Abstract

This study aims to determine adequacy of thick protective lead aprons as radiation in Radiology Services Unit in Semarang. This research is quantitative with observational approach radiation measurements. The samples were hospitals in Kota Semarang. The independent variable is the thickness of the lead apron and the dependent variable in this study is the radiation behind the lead apron. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics to take a conclusion. The results showed Adequacy lead apron at the Semarang Hospital, HVL values between 4 to 7 HVL or dose rate are forwarded after passing through the apron of 6.25% to 0, 781%. Value adequacy thick lead apron 0.5 mmPb that used had a value below the threshold set by Bapeten that dose forwarded after passing the lead apron is less than or 0,02 μSv which means lead apron can be used for radiation safety assurance in hospital and radiology departement units in the Semarang.

Transmission of TB in HIV patients causes HIV-TB patients in Indonesia have increased. Respiratory disorder in patients with HIV/ AIDS is one of the causes of morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of thorax radiography in patients with HIV-AIDS and the relationships between their thorax radiographs and CD4 counts. Research had been carried out by the method of qualitative descriptive approach, the study sample was thorax radiographs of adult patients with HIV/ AIDS aged 20-60 years old in Radiology BKPM Semarang. The thorax radiographs performed in 43 patients. The independent variable was the patient's thorax radiographs and the dependent variables were pulmonary abnormalities. The analysis was done by means of descriptive. Thorax radiographs of 43 respondents with HIV-AIDS indicated that 26 people suffered from bronchitis and 17 people had bronco pneumonia. Specific process or pulmonary Tuberculosis experienced by 30 respondents, whereas one suffered emphysema and 12 did not have tuberculosis. The findings of relationships between HIV-AIDS respondents' thorax radiographs and their CD4 counts indicated that pulmonary bronchitis was found in one of those with CD4 count of 401-500 cells/mL (2.33%), three of those with 301-400 CD4 cells/ mL (6, 98%), and seven of those who had CD4 between 201-300 cells/ mL (16, 28%). A picture of bronco pneumonia showed in five of those with CD4 between 101-200 cells/ mL (11.63%) and four of those with CD4 between 0-100 cells/ mL (9.30%). In respondents who did not have data on their CD4, 15 of them (34.88%) had a picture of thorax bronchitis and eight (18.60%) had a picture of bronco pneumonia.

Abstract

This study is a survey research, with a sample Hospital in Semarang with the number of samples apron as much as 49 pieces. Methods of research done by observation, measurement and documentation. Measurements were made using flouroskopi to identify defect lead apron. The data analysis is done by analyzing the percentage of damaged apron on the entire sample, categorizedĀ  reject level of disability if the leakage obtained apron greater than 670 mm2. Care Lead Apron in Radiology Installation varies by hanging up and placed horizontally. Situation and Function Lead aprons as protective of radiation exposure in the City Semarang apron 44 of 49 samples within safe limits (less disability 670 mm2) and 5 aprons in the experience of disability (more than 670 mm2) and must rejected. Lead apron owned Radiology Installation in Semarang has a thickness of 0.25 mmPb to the lowest voltage tubes up to 100 kV, and 0.35 mmPb - 0,5 mmPb for tube voltages above 100 kV.
