Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of bay leaf extract mouthwashes on plaque formation. This type of research was experimental with pretest and posttest control group design. The number of samples was 30 students of class V SDN Meteseh, Tembalang, Semarang. The samples were divided into two groups, group I were rinsed with salam leaf extract and group II distilled water rinse. Plaque was measured using the plaque index by PHP before and after rinsing leaves extract. Analysis of the data used is the Independent Sample t - Test. The test results showed that the value of p = 0,000 which means a decrease in plaque index occurs significantly in the control and treatment groups. Independent Sample t - Test showed that the value of p = 0,005 so there was a significant difference between the control group  rinsed with distilled water rinse treatment group to the salam leaf extract (Eugenia polyantha Wight). It can be concluded that gargling salam leaf extract could reduce the formation of dental plaque.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that affect the practice of sterilization of dental instruments to prevent cross infection in Semarang Health Center. This is a quantitative research done with survey method and cross sectional study. The population and the sample were 37 dental nurses who work in the Semarang Health Center. Whereas, the data were collected by using a structured questionnaire. Result shows that 54.1 % of the respondents in both practice sterilization. The first influencing variable is knowledge of the dental nurses ( p = 0.014 ) with 10,529 points odds ratio, which means that dental nurses with good knowledge of sterilization have possibility to execute the patients 10 times better than those with less good knowledge. The second is the attitude of dental nurses (p = 0.037) with 7.104 points odds ratio, which means that dental nurses with good attitude have the possibility to sterilize 7 times better than those who show a less good attitude. Variables that do not affect the practice of sterilization is the level of education, availability of sterilization, age, gender, years of service, rules relating to sterilization.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know what types of activities and targets of achievement in Care services and UKGS programs at the elementary schools in Banyumanik Semarang. Qualitative methods are used to explore about activities that are already implemented in the UKGS program and care services and look at the factors that inhibit the activity. The result shows that UKGS program has been conducted in accordance with the curriculum materials that incorporate oral health, the program managers also conduct sessions of information on oral health but is not optimal yet. Common disease prevention is still implemented, curative measures were undertaken for students who require care service. They still lack of medical officer, facilities, infrastructures, closest health center. Almost all activities except gargle with fluorine have been carried out. Thus, some efforts are made on the activities of care services. Supporting Factors like the officer always must be be in place ready if needed, so that existing activities within care services can all be resolved. It also helps health centers in health care in the elementary school. Barrier that exists is the school is not allowed to collect fees from parents.

Abstract

Transmission of infection can be occured  from the use of instruments that are not sterile, to break the chain of transmission of the infection, it is necessary to carry out the sterilization of medical devices with the correct procedures such as sterilization by dry heat or infrared can also with other methods. The purpose of this study to know the number of microorganisms and decrease the effectiveness of both the sterilization sterilize dental instruments.The reacherd was conducted in the laboratory using the method of experimental research, design research is one group pretest-posttest. The data have been acquired and processed statistically tested by Paired T-Test and Independent Test.Based on the results, the data is a decline in the number of bacteria in the infrared sterilization, but still found breeding of bacteria in sterilized tools. Decline in the number of bacteria in dry heat sterilization and no breeding of bacteria in all the tools are sterilized. The results of statistical tests Paired T-Test were both obtained p value = 0.000, so it can be said that the infrared sterilization and dry heat sterilization is effective in reducing the number of bacteria on equipment in dentistry. The statistical result obtained Independent T-Test p value: 0.626, which means there are no significant differences between the infrared sterilization and dry heat sterilization in killing microorganisms.

Abstract

The purpose to design expert system software to facilitate users in getting the diagnosis and treatment advice in accordance with the symptoms of caries. Disease diagnosis expert system software dental caries forward chaining method has been designed and is necessary to do a feasibility study. The purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility study software in diagnosing dental caries. This research is a quantitative description of the cross-sectional approach. The feasibility study aims to determine whether the software software is acceptable or not as the media detection of dental caries disease. The feasibility study using 20 patients software dental caries, five IT specialists and 10 dentists in Semarang. Data from the feasibility study displayed a frequency distribution. In the aspect of feasibility software technology gives patients by 95% In the operational aspects of IT specialists, dentists and patients give the feasibility on top of ≥ 75%. By feasibility law gives patients the feasibility of 90%, results showed the expert system software forward chaining method 100% deserved by all three groups of respondents, dentists, IT and software users. This expert system software are suggested for the validation test to be used in detecting correctly between diagnosis dentist with the results of diagnostic software.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the implementation of programs in health centers SDHP working area of Semarang City Health Office. This type of research is a qualitative research method of observation and in-depth interviews. Key informants are seven dental nurses, eight and seven informant informant triangulation supporting parents. Results showed in general for most public workers has only two executive power SDHP program. Availability of funds for the program in the clinic SDHP Jamkesmas sourced from funds, operating funds have not been allocated to the program UKS / SDHP. Strategies that do not SDHP focused on promotive and preventive efforts but networking and referral. SDHP program targets the majority of class I crawl. Criteria SDHP held that SDHP Integration and selective. Implementation was carried out together with the BIAS program.
