Abstract

Raja Ali Haji meyebutkan bahwa penguasa dan pembesar kejaraan harus menjaga tiga unsur kedirian manusia, yaitu unsur al- jism (jasmani, raga atau fisik), al-nafs (nafsani, jiwa atau psikis), al-rūḥ (rohani, sukma atau spirit). Ketiga unsur ini merupakan satu susunan kesatuan yang tidak dapat dipisah (integral) dan utuh (totalitas) dalam membentukan kedirian manusia. Pertama, dalam pemeliharan rohani Raja Ali Haji menyebutkan penyebab awal terjangkitnya “penyakit” rohani bagi manusia (baca: penguasa dan pembesar kerajaan) dikarenakan “kedatangan beberapa bala’ dan susah atau anwū’ul balā’. Hebatnya lagi, setelah mengidentifikasi secara detail peneyebabnya, Raja Ali Haji juga memberikan solusi dalam mengeleminir, menanggulangi atau dalam mengobati penyakit rohani tersbut.Kedua, Pemeliharan jiwa manusia sedemikian penting, sehingga Raja Ali Haji mengungkap jiwa/hati sebagai “raja” bagi raga manusia. Artinya, kalau hati itu baik pula raganya, sebagaimana kalau raja itu baik akan di rasakan kebaikannya itu oleh masyarakat. Untuk itu, manusia harus senantiasa memelihara dirinya dengan cara menyucikan hatinya (tazkiyah al-Nafs). Dan pada gilirannya manusia yang sudah dan akan selalu menyucian diri akan melahirkan akhlak baik. Pemeliharan diri dikaitakan dengan akhlak yang baik disamakan dengan memeliharan/menjaga nama baik. Ketiga, dalam pemeliharan jasmani/indera-indera ragawi manusia: lidah, mata, telinga, tangan, alat kelamin, kaki dan hati, Raja Ali Haji melakukan dua pendekatan: (i) pendekatan  “indra batini” dan (ii) “indera zahiri”. Untuk pemeliharaan indra batini ia menekankan pendekatan sufistik, misilanya memelihara ketujuh anggota badan itu dari larangan-larangan agama. Untuk pemeliharaan indra zahiri adalah lewat olah raga, menjaga pola makan, waktu tidur yang cukup serta mengatur waktu dalam melakukan hubungan seksual.

Abstract

Tulisan ini menjelaskan peran Raja Ali Haji dalam hal bahasa dan budaya. Dengan lidah fasih yang resonansif, kalam tajam yang produktif; akal cerdas yang mengajari, hati suci yang menghilhami, Raja Ali Haji telah mampu menuntun masyarakatnya, Melayu menuju jalan yang “lurus” selaras dengan ajaran agama dan adat/budaya Melayu yang luhur. Jalan lurus yang telah ditapaki dan ditunjuki Raja Ali Haji ini tidak saja berlaku untuk genarasi pada masanya, tetapi tetap relevan hingga kini, bahkan memiliki resonansi mondial di masa sekarang dan mendatang.

Abstract

The image of a good ruler is always to meet the needs of his people and think about the life (fate) of his people. With this kind of leadership behavior, the people will be prosperous and peaceful and people always obey it because in the hearts of the people terpatri fame the wisdom of its leader leaders. In addition, a good ruler is not indulging his lust, avoiding disgraceful nature and attitude and avoiding unfavorable world life. Furthermore, Raja Ali Haji mentioned that the good ruler will build facilities and infrastructure in support of the achievement of the welfare of the community, reducing the occurrence of slander in society, religion maintained and custom preserved, education is noticed, law is enforced and the community is finally close to God. In the section of Raja Ali Haji detailing the characteristics of a ruling ruler, which reigns with "whip" (iron hand), has a rough temperament and has no shame. In addition, the ugly ruler does not pay attention to the welfare and tranquility of his people, especially for the common people and the poor. The image of the ugly ruler is like indulging his lust, pursuing a less than decent world life. Furthermore, the sign of the ruler is not good is to ignore the construction of facilities and infrastructure of community life, religious life abandoned and customs and culture is not maintained and society is far from God.The image of the ruler is bad and is reflected in his attitude towards upholding the main principles of power. Principles of power referred to, as there is a small treatise Raja Ali Haji, Muqaddimah fī al-Intiẓām, consists of the principles of justice, the principle of deliberation, and the principle of equality. A good ruler will uphold justice, deliberation and equality among the people. On the contrary, bad rulers are unjust, authoritarian and discriminatory.

Abstract

Al-Imam is the first magazine in Persada Alam Melayu-Nusantara that promotes the renewal of Islamic thought and voices the awakening of the backwardness and stagnation of Muslims in this region in the first decade of the 20th century. The managers of Al-Imam magazine claim to be students of Sheikh al-Imam Muhammad Abduh and Rashid Ridha. Thus, in terms of spirit, material, and publishing format, Al-Imam magazine is a "duplication" and "extension" of Al-Manar magazine, which was published by Muhammad Abduh and Rashid Ridha in Cairo, Egypt, from 1898 to 1935. On this basis, the genealogy and typology of the renewal of thought voiced by Al-Imam magazine in the Malay-Nusantara region are based on and get a strong influence from the rational-progressive renewal of Islamic thought by Muhammad Abduh and Rashid Ridha, especially as stated in Al-Manar. Although Al-Imam magazine was only published for two years (19061908), its role and influence were large and wide in this region. The most obvious influence of Al-Imam Magazine is seen in the publication of Al-Munir magazine by Abdullah Ahmad in Padang in 19111915.Keywords:Al-Imam Magazine;Renewal of Islamic Thought;Malay-Nusantara
