Abstract

This study aimed to improve students' critical thinking skills by using problem solving methods. The method used in this research was the Classroom Action Research. Data collection was done by using a test to determine the level of students' critical thinking skills. Results of the study at the end of the third cycle, which the value of the critical thinking skills completed by 39 students or 93%, seen in indicators of critical thinking involved the ability to analyze was obtained percentage of 97%, the ability to synthesize obtained a percentage of 97%, the percentage of problem-solving skills acquired by 95%, the ability to conclude obtained a percentage of 97%, the ability to evaluate the percentage of 95% was obtained, and the ability to take a decision obtained by a percentage of 88%. Conclusions of this study were, the use of problems solving methods can effectively improve critical thinking skills optimally in the first semester students of the Economic Studies.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa dengan menggunakan metode pemecahan masalah. Metode yang dipergunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik tes untuk mengetahui tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian di akhir siklus III, menunjukkan nilai hasil kemampuan berpikir kritis yang tuntas sebesar 39 mahasiswa atau 93%, terlihat pada indikator berpikir kritis meliputi kemampuan menganalisis diperoleh presentase sebesar 97%, kemampuan mensintesis diperoleh presentase sebesar 97%, kemampuan memecahkan masalah diperoleh presentase sebesar 95%, kemampuan menyimpulkan diperoleh presentase sebesar 97%, kemampuan mengevaluasi diperoleh presentase sebesar 95%, dan kemampuan mengambil keputusan diperoleh presentase sebesar 88%. Simpulan penelitian ini adalah penggunaan metode pemecahan masalah efektif dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis secara optimal pada mahasiswa Semester I Program Studi Pendidikan Ekonomi.Kata kunci: akuntansi, berpikir kritis, metode pemecahan masalah
