Abstract

This study discusses the literacy activity of Travelling and Teaching (TNT) # 18 carried out by teaching volunteers of the 1000 Guru Bandung Community. The purpose of this study is to find out ho literacy activity is carried out by volunteers 1000 Guru Bandung Community. This research used qualitative method with case study approach. Data in this study were obtained through participatory observation, interviews, documentation and literature review. The results of this study indicate that the instructional communication process carried out by the teaching volunteers of 1000 Guru Bandung community during TNT #18 program includes: 1) Content specifications and instructional communication objectives regarding learning materials and activities contained or listed in the TNT # 18 booklet; 2) Initial Behavior Assessment in technical meeting to inform about the ability of students (target); 3) Determination of Instructional Strategies which are dichotomized into: Expository Strategies (searching for teaching materials through textbooks as well as the internet) and inquiry strategies (selection of fun teaching methods and instructional communication media); 4) Organization of Instructional units (distribution of material, techniques for using instructional media and flow of material presentation, simulation); 5) Feedback: learning review; and 6) Evaluation. There were no significant obstacles that occurred during TNT # 18 program since learning objectives had been so carefully planned from the start that any potential obstacles could be anticipated. The conclusion of this research is that an additional component or process in the instructional communication process at the end after conducting a review is an evaluation of the instructional communication process as a whole and also barriers. But these obstacles can be eliminated or can be avoided because this instructional communication process has been planned in such a way in advance. For further research, it is advisable to conduct more in-depth research on teaching volunteers of the 1000 Guru Bandung Community. It is expected that innovation can be created in the various volunteer teaching activities of the 1000 Guru Bandung Community in order to create a better learning system.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted the collection development activities in the Regional Public Library of Sumenep Regency. The pandemic has allowed libraries to improve their collection development activities, which were not previously a priority. This study aims to describe the existing activities of the stages of developing the collection in the Sumenep Regional Public Library during the pandemic. The research method used was descriptive qualitative, with the research subject being a librarian of the Sumenep Regional Public Library. Data collection was obtained through observation, interviews, and a literature review. Study results found that firstly, community analysis was conducted by distributing questionnaires links through Instagram accounts and the official website. Second, the collection development policy needed to be formally and officially formulated. Third, collection selection was carried out with a conformarian understanding, which is a balance between quality and interest in books. At this stage, the selection was carried out based on the data results from the step previously. Fourth, the procurement of library materials was hampered during the pandemic due to budget cuts for procurement allocations and the provision of digital libraries. Fifth, weeding was carried out more efficiently and focused during the pandemic. The final stage was collection evaluation, and it was found that the Sumenep Public Library itself did not carry out routine evaluations of collection development. It found several obstacles, namely budget cuts due to being diverted to Covid-19 funds, lacking human resources in the IT field, and lacking a collection development policy formulation. In conclusion, the Sumenep Public Library still needs more collection development during the pandemic.

Abstract

This research discusses about literacy distance learning at Arafah Islamic Kindergarten Jakarta based on lesson plans; learning methods; learning activities; and post-learning activities. This study aims to describe information literacy through distance learning activities at Arafah Islamic Kindergarten in Jakarta. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data is collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. The researcher selected informants with purposive sampling method which sellect the principal, teachers, and parents of students of Arafah Islamic Kindergarten Jakarta. The results of this study explain that distance learning or online learning began to emerge during the Covid-19 pandemic as suggested by the Ministry of Education and Culture, including in terms of learning literacy in children. Arafah Islamic Kindergarten Jakarta itself has created a special curriculum for distance learning activities based on philosophical, sociological, and psycho-pedagogical aspects. At Arafah Islamic Kindergarten Jakarta, literacy learning and basic numeracy literacy are taught remotely using the resource-based learning method and scientific approach. The school has tried to teach children literacy effectively and efficiently by innovating learning activities through children's worksheets, home-visit activities, and video learning. After the learning activities, the school provides assessments through weekly report cards. To optimize distance learning activities, the school collaborates with parents or guardians in every distance learning activity.
