Abstract

The play grounds and green parks in Malang was developed until nowadays in the effort of enhancement the environment in Malang. With improving of the quality of services of that public area, it will increase the achievement of visitor satisfaction and their perception about its function.  The research was conducted to evaluate the existing condition in Malang City Park, to analyze the  perception of the visitors to the utilization play grounds in the city and to formulate the recommendations in improving the play ground for the conservation of natural enemies. For these purposes, questionnaires were developed and it was interviewed to the visitors of the play ground as respondents. Data collected were analyzed using Gap Analysis compared to the ideal of green park as play ground according to the governance criteria. Based on research results, most of the visitors were satisfy with the play ground, but their perception to its function were no so clear. By implementing some suggestion of the stakeholders (University and Non-Governmental Organization) almost all of the criteria of ideal green open space were already similar with its from the government. The improvement in the educational characters of the play ground and be considered for the ideal multifunction play ground in Malang City.Keywords: multi function, play ground, visitor perception

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the diversity, composition, and community structure of odonata in the highland and lowland ecosystems and the type of lotic and lentic waters and analyze the description of land use and its relationship with diversity odonata. There are 8 research locations namely Sumber Maron, Sumber Sirah, Sumber Taman, Bureng River, Umbul Gemulo, Arboretum, Coban Rais River, Coban Talun River. Measurement of biotic and abiotic factors in odonata habitat and land use analysis using GPS and ArcGIS program ver 10.5, data analysis using the Shannon Wiener diversity index (H'), evenness index (E), Important Value Index (IVI), and similarity index Bray-curtis. The results showed that the total number of Anisoptera in lotic aquatic ecosystems was 619 individuals divided into 13 species from 3 families, in the lenticular aquatic ecosystem was 533 individuals divided into 15 species from 3 families. This study concludes that the diversity of species in the highlands is higher than in the lowlands, and the diversity in the lentic ecosystem is higher than that of the lotik ecosystem and odonata has its own tolerance to land use as their habitat especially with minimal human disturbances.

Abstract

As a famous tourism destination in Indonesia, Malang Raya has many interesting places for visiting, like river. River becomes an important part in tourism spatial planning of a region, because almost all the waste from human activities dumped into the river, thus it will affect the quality of the river water. Malang Raya passed by 12 sub-watersheds whereas 4 of them passed 3 districts/cities, namely Metro, Bango, Amprong and Manten sub-watershed. Therefore, it needs an integrated spatial planning between the three regions, especially to support tourism destination. The purpose of this research is to formulate water carrying capacity assessment and its recommendation in spatial planning in Malang area. This is a quantitative-descriptive study using regular monitoring of water quality in 20 rivers surrounding Malang Raya by Malang Department of Environment. The results of this study show that the sub-watershed area of Metro, Bango, Amprong and Manten are classified into mild contaminated. This condition, one of them, is caused by land use changing in upstream areas. A bit more pollution in the river will affect the number of tourist visits to Malang Raya area.Keywords: Amprong, Bango, Manten, Metro, sub-watershed, water pollution index.

Abstract

Lead become a frequent problem in the environment, especially in the soil. However, there are plenty of plant species that can be used to overcome that problem. This study was aimed to analyze the effectiveness of Vetiver grass to reduce hyper-accumulate heavy metal such as lead (Pb) in the soil. Moreover, this study focused on the determination of heavy metals in the soil before plantation and after plantation of Vetiver. The method used was by planting the Vetiver grass in soil that was already treated by lead nitrate, lead chloride, and lead sulfate. Samples were collected from these treated soil every two weeks and samples of the vetiver grass were taken after one week for ten weeks. The result shows that Vetiver grasses are able to remove hyper-accumulate lead from the treated soil.Key words: Heavy metals, hyper accumulator, Vetiver grass.
