Abstract

The Research  was conducted to study the effect of green tea  addition in diet to egg weight, egg number, egg yolk colour , fat level and cholesterol level of egg yolk on laying hens. The materials used were 72 laying hens of 28 weeks old. The method of  the research was experiment arranged in Completely Randomized Design. The treatment were green tea  addition levels were 0 %, 1 %, 2 %, and 3 %. The variables observed were  egg weight,  egg number,  egg yolk colour, fat level and cholesterol level of  egg yolk. The result showed that green tea  had no significant effect  (P> 0.05) on egg weight, egg number and  egg yolk colour, but significant effect  (P<0.05) on fat level and cholesterol level of egg yolk. The conclusion was  green tea  addition  3 % in diets,  had not decreased on egg weight, egg number and not effect on egg yolk colour,  but had decreased fat level and cholesterol level of egg yolk on laying hens. The suggested were on management of laying hen, so addition  2 %  green tea on diets for reducing   fat level and cholesterol level  of egg yolk,  with optimal egg production.   Keywords : Laying hen, Green tea, Egg yolk colour, Fat, Cholesterol

Abstract

The research objective was to study the effect of box position and transportation distance  on body weight loss and the percentage of body weight loss on broiler finisher. The materials were 150 male chickens and 150 female chickens of broiler finisher. The research applied experimentally method was arranged in Randomyzed Block Design, with transportation distance as replication group and box position as treatment. Variable  observed were  body weight loss and percentage body weight loss. The datas analysis by ANOVA.  If there were a different between treatments, were be continued by Least Significant Difference Test. The results of experiment indicated that the higher the placement position of the front box gave body weight loss and percentage of body weight loss on both male and female broiler chickens was higher. The farther distance of transportation both in male and female broiler chickens gave body weight loss and percentage of body weight loss higher. The suggestion was in the transportation broiler placement should placed in the position of front and back of the box, should not be too high to avoid greater body weight loss. In the long-distance transport needs to be given a transit point (rest) as well as feeding and drinking to minimal effect on   body weight loss.   Keyword :  Broiler finisher, Box Position, Transportation distance, Body weight loss

Abstract

The aim of the research was to study the effect of cage floor type (wire and litter) and sex ratio on fertility, hatchability and dead embryo of quail. The materials used were 24 male and 84 female quails aged 60 days old. The method of research was experiment which was arranged factorially (2x4) with Randomized Block Design (RBD). The first factor was the type of cage floor which was wire and litter. The second factor was the sex ratio which was 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, and 1:5. The variables were fertility, hatchability, and dead embryo. Data were analyzed with ANOVA and if there were significant differences among the treatments it would be continued with Duncan Multiple Range Test. The results showed that cage floor type had no effect (P>0.05) on fertility with the average of 80±8,78 to 81±5,37%, hatchability with the average of 82,6±2,46 to 82,93±2,74%, and dead embryo with the average of 17,06±2,74 to 17,37±2,46%. Sex ratio had highly significant effect (P<0.01) on fertility (72,00 to 88,67%) and had no effect (P>0,05) on hatchability (79,78 to 85,79%) and dead embryo (14,21 to 20,21%). There was no interaction effect (P>0.05) between the cage floor type and sex ratio. The conclusion on breeding quail can be used two type of cage floor i.e. litter or wire floor . The sex ratio influenced egg fertility, a higher sex ratio produced lower fertility. It was suggested that in quail‘s breeding practices could be used both floor type of cage which were wire or litter floor, with sex ratio 1 male and 4 female quails.
