Abstract

There are abundant Javanese manuscripts in Indonesia. One of the interesting Javanese manuscripts which was reviewed in this paper is Serat Wasitawala. This serat was written in a genre of piwulang. It contains character values that are expected to be the source of the curriculum enrichment for the 2013 national curriculum (Kurtilas) that puts the values of the characters as a priority. Using philology methods and hermeneutical approach, this article reveals content of the text and educational values in Serat Wasitawala, along with the context of writing and its relevance to nowadays education. Serat Wasitawala contains educational values that could represent the concept of Islamic education of Java in the past was written by Mas Demang Warsapradongga. Serat Wasitawala in general was a form of life doctrines both related to God as well as to human beings. The values of character education reflected in it are as follows; wondering, love science, thinking logically, critical, creative, and innovative; religious; honest; responsible; disciplined, hard working, confident boundaries; polite; nationalist; and appreciating diversity. The issues of education that are integral and related with nowadays context include character education/morals, professional teachers, and educational philosophy aimed at seeking perfection of life.

Abstract

This is qualitative research that aims to describe the suitability of teaching Arabic books (class I and IV) in MI using KTSP curriculum with Content and Competency Standards set government policy, and a description of the book to teach Arabic MI is needed to cope with the new curriculum in 2013. The method used is a qualitative method, using content analysis of BSNP (National Education Standards Agency) and needs analysis. Suitability of the Arabic book by SK KD government set on average for class I applied sufficiently and still need to be further improved. As for class IV, SK KD can be applied with good and balanced, but to listening competencies, especially in the identification of letters hijaiyah not get enough servings. There are two possible models that can be created for teach book in the coming school year, the first is a thematic integrative book of PAI MI according to the new curriculum in 2013, or second is a Arabic books MI generally for the new school year.

Abstract

This research is included in naturalistic research which is intendedto explore the wedding ritual in Pekalongan, a town in the north part ofCentral Java which has a special characteristic. The ritual consists of severalsteps such as nakokke, sangsangan, nentokke dino, pasrahan tukon,malem midodaren, walimah, aqad nikah, resepsi, and balik kloso.Thespeciallity of Pekalongan wedding ritual arev (1) dating after engagement;(2) the brief series of ceremony; (3) the word walimah translated asreading maulid al-barzanji before akad nikah; (4) the couple do not sittogether in the ceremony; (5) a special term bedhol gelung; (6) an activityof balik kloso sisan tilik; (7) a special term nunggak seme; (8) thereare some models of invitation.
