Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini membahas tentang kesantunan berbahasa dalam dialog komunikasi terapeutik antara bidan dengan ibuhamil di klinik praktek kebidanan di daerah Depok. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penaatan danpelanggaran prinsip kesantunan Leech dalam komunikasi terapeutik antara bidan dan ibu hamil di klinik praktekkebidanan pada Klinik Bidan Emmy, yang terletak di Jalan Kemakmuran, Mekarjaya, Kecamatan Sukmajaya, Depok.Sumber data dari penelitian ini adalah dialog komunikasi terapeutik antara bidan dan ibu hamil yang dikumpulkanmelalui teknik rekam catat. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif denganmenggunakan metode deskriptif. Kesantunan berbahasa yang diteliti dalam penelitian ini adalah yang mengandungprinsip sopan santun teori Leech, prinsip sopan santun itu meliputi enam maksim yaitu (1) maksim kebijaksanaan (2)maksim kedermawanan, (3) maksim penghargaan, (4) maksim kesederhanaan, (5) maksim pemukatan, dan yangterakhir maksim simpati. Hasil penelitian ini, yakni terdapat tuturan, baik yang memenuhi maupun yang melanggarprinsip kesantunan Leech. Tuturan yang memenuhi prinsip Leech lebih banyak bila dibandingkan dengan tuturan yangmelanggar prinsip kesantunan Leech.Kata Kunci: kesantunan, komunikasi terapeutik, bidan, ibu hamilABSTRACTThis study discusses language politeness in therapeutic communication dialogue between midwives and pregnant women in midwifery practice clinics in Depok area. The purpose of this study was to determine the compliance andviolation of the Leech politeness principle in therapeutic communication between midwives and pregnant women atthe midwifery practice clinic at the Emmy Midwife Clinic, which is located on Jalan Kemakmuran, Mekarjaya,Sukmajaya District, Depok. The data source of this study is a dialogue of therapeutic communication between midwives and pregnant women which is collected through a record technique. The method used in this research is qualitative research using descriptive methods. Language politeness studied in this study contained the principles ofthe Leech theory of courtesy, the principles of courtesy include six maxims, namely (1) maxim of wisdom (2) maximof generosity, (3) maxim of appreciation, (4) maxim of simplicity, (5) maxim of trawling, and the last maxim ofsympathy. The result of this research is that there are utterances, both those that fulfill and those that violate theprinciples of Leech politeness. There are more speeches that fulfill the Leech principles than those that violate theLeech's principle of politeness.Keywords: politeness, therapeutic communication, midwives, pregnant women

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui problem dan  kesalahan penulisan apa yang dihadapi oleh para santri/siswa dalam menulis teks naratif berbahasa Inggris. Metode yag digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif. Sampel penelitian adalah 25 siswa/santri di Pondok Pesantren Daar El Nayl Cilebut, Kabupaten Bogor. Penelitian ini dimulai dari bulan Maret sampai dengan bulan Agustus 2021. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: aspek penggunaan bahasa dan kurangnya penguasaan kota kata menjadi problem tersulit; terdapat 7 kesalahan yang dilakukan para santri/siswa, yakni 1) Tenses, 2) Susunan kata, 3) Bentuk kata, 4) Ejaan, 5) Perjanjian subjek-kata kerja, 6) Artikel, dan 7) Preposision. Kata kunci: menulis naratif, bahasa Inggris, pondok pesantren Daar  El Nayl   ABSTRACT         This research aims to find out what problems and writing errors faced by the students in writing narrative texts in English. The method used in this research is a qualitative method. The research sample is 25 students at the Pesantren  Daar El Nayl  Cilebut, Bogor, from March to August 2021. The results showed that: aspects of language use and lack vocabularies become the most difficult problems; there are 7 mistakes made by the students, namely: 1) Tenses, 2) Word order, 3) Word forms, 4) Spelling, 5) Subject-verb agreement, 6) Articles, and 7) Prepositions. Keywords: writing narrative, english, pondok pesantren Daarr El Nayl

Abstract

Vocabulary is a tool for clarification of thinking, clearing, and satisfying expression of ideas. Hence, the research aims at investigating Vocabulary-learning strategy by EFL students. The data were collected by using questionnaires and interviews. This research employed a descriptive method by examining O’Malley and Chamot’s strategies (2004). The results show that the common strategies used by learners in vocabulary learning namely Reading short stories, Reading loudly, Repeating after the lecturers, Using English social media, Making list of memorized vocabulary, Skipping new word which likely does not need to study, Watching movie, Listening the song, Applying new words in the sentences, Making conversation with friends in and outside the classroom, Writing the word repeatedly, Asking the lecturers or classmates who understand more than them, and Asking the lecturers to translate the meaning of a word. Meanwhile, the strategies to develop their English vocabulary such as Writing the repeated word, Discovering the meanings of new words by using the dictionary, Memorizing new vocabulary, Saying the word loudly in front of the mirror, and Using English social media.

Abstract

Many Indonesian’s students face the difficulties in translating English noun phrase into Indonesian. English and Indonesia have different structure. Meanwhile, one of the important elements in building a sentence is noun phrase. English noun phrases have some possibilities of translation result from the source language (SL) into the target lagnuage, Indonesian (TL). Hence, the researcher does the research which is entitled The Translation of English Noun Phrase Into Idonesian. The aims of this research are to find out the translations of English noun phrases into Indonesian. This research uses qualitative method. The source of data is “Sidney Sheldon's Memory of Midnight” and its translated version, “Padang Bayang Kelabu”, by Budijanto T. Pramono. The result of this research shows that there are four categories of translating English noun phrases into Indonesian, namely English noun phrases translated using the word yang, Plural English noun phrases translated into singular, English noun phrases translated using the word, and Elnglish noun phrases which are not translated literally. The conclusion of this research also shows that the change in the form and orders of the nouns phrases which is a noun as the head and also the sequence of modifiers, meanwhile without changing its meanings.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to analyze grammatical error made by  the third semester students of unindra PGRI University in their writing. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method in order to investigate errors in writing made by the three learners.  The researcher used the descriptive analysis technique with the percentage of the data. The researcher limited the research of grammatical errors only for three categories namely omission, misinformation, and addition. The result shows that the total grammatical errors made by the three learners are 39 errors. The highest number of learner error was done in tenses, which is 19 errors or  48,7%, preposition errors 12 errors or 30,8%, and singular/plural noun 8 errors or 20,5%.  The most categories of errors made by the three learners were in omission 14 errors or 35,9% and misinformation categories 14 errors or 35,9%, meanwhile for the rest category, addition category 11 errors or 28,2%. None participant made grammatical error on singular/plural noun of misinformation category. This research is very important because the teachers/lecturers could find out the appropriate strategy to teach and finally, it can improve the learners’ skill of writing.Key words: Error Analysis, Gramatical, Students’ writing.  ABSTRAK Tujuan peneletian ini untuk menganalisa kesalahan tatabahasa  yang dibuat oleh mahasiswa semester tiga universitas Indraprasta PGRI dalam penulisan karangan mereka. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif guna menginvestigasi kesalahan dalam menulis yang dibuat oleh tiga mahasiswa/i. Menyajikan data dalam bentuk presentase. Peneliti membatasi penelitian kesalahan tatabahasa ini hanya tiga kategori, yaitu penghilangan, kesalahan informasi, dan penambahan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa jumlah kesalahan tatabahasa yang dibuat oleh ketiga mahasiswa/i tersebut adalah 39 kesalahan. Kesalahan terbanyak adalah kesalahan dalam tensis, yaitu 19 kesalahan atau 48,7%, kata depan 12 kesalahan atau 30,8%, dan kata benda tunggal/jamak 8 kesalahan atau 20,5%. Sementara itu kesalahan terbanyak dalam hal kategoti ialah penghilangan 14 kesalahan atau 35,9%, kesalahan informasi yaitu 14 kesalahan atau 35,9%, sementara itu kesalahan kategori dalam hal penambahan sebanyak 11 kesalahan atau 28,2%. Tak satupun dari mahasiswa/i membuat kesalahan tatabahasa  kata benda tunggal/jamak untuk kategori kesalahan informasi. Penelitian ini sangat berfaedah karena para guru/dosen dapat menemukan strategi mengajar yang tepat. Pada akhirnya, dapat menambah  keahlian mahasiswa/i dalam penulisan mereka.Key Words: Analisis kesalahan, Tata bahasa, Penulisan mahasiswa/i.

Abstract

English and Indonesian have different grammatical patterns and cultural values. That is why, many problems that students studying translation subject have to face. One of them is how to translate English Passive Voice into Indonesian. That is the reason the writer aims to do the research. The research is to describe the translation of English passive voice into Indonesian by analyzing two novels, which are Kristan Higgins’ Waiting on You and its translation Nina Andiana’s Penantian Terpanjang. This research uses qualitative method. The writer collected, identified, the data concerning with the translation of English passive voice. The results of the research shows that there are two categories of translating English passive voice into Indonesian, namely English passive voice can be translated both into Indonesian passive voice and English passive voice can be translated into Indonesian active voice. English passive voice is translated into Indonesian passive voice by using prefixes di- and ter-, meanwhile English passive voice is translated into Indonesian active voice by using prefixes me-, men-, and ber-. From forty one data which are identified there are 32 data (78.04%) of English passive voices translated into Indonesian passive voices and 9 data (21.96%) of English passive voices translated into Indonesian active voices.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the students' of CIE fourth level achievement in reading skill by scanning and skimming strategies, as well as the effectiveness of scanning and skimming strategies at Institute of Technology Indonesia. The pre-experimental research technique was employed by using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population of this research was a fourth level CIE class of 60 students, and the sample was a class of IV-A pupils of 20 students. The instrument was a 25-question of multiple-choice survey. The findings prior to utilizing the scanning and skimming method, pretest; the maximum score was 80, the lowest score was 56, the mean score was 70.6, the median score was 72; and the mode score was 72, the standard deviation was 8.13, and the variance was 66.15. The posttest findings of the scanning and skimming approach were as follows: the highest score was 100, the lowest score was 72, the mean score was 92, the median score was 96, the mode score was 96, the variance was 80.84, and the standard deviation was 8,99. Based on the findings of the research, the tcount was 4.352 with a significant threshold of 0.05 and the ttable was 2,086, and the scores were compared. As a result, tcount exceeds ttable (4.352 > 2,086).  It signifies that the research hypothesis (H1) has been accepted. In conclusion, utilizing scanning and skimming strategies has a considerable influence on reading comprehension at the fourth level students of Institute of Technology Indonesia.
