Abstract

Knowledge is always used as the beginning of a person's actions and consciousness. So with the knowledge capacity is expected to be the basis of a person's actions. Media puzzle earthquake and tsunami is a medium that can be used as a reference for teachers as a variation in the learning process. Disaster risk reduction knowledge necessary for children to be able to respond quickly and proactively to catastrophic events. Application of the puzzle in disaster risk reduction can be done by providing a range of different cognitive knowledge to children living in disaster-prone areas. For this study, researchers used experimental study. The research location was the State Primary School No. 15 Banda Aceh, conducted in March 2016. The population in this study was all students who were in year of 24 students. The test used is the right hand, then "testing criteria applicable is accept Ho if counting table and distribution is (n1 + n2 - 2) with α = 0.05". Based on the significant level α = 0.05 and degrees of freedom 22 from distribution table obtained t0, 05 t (22) = 1.7171, so t t1-α ie 25.37 1.7171, then in accordance with the test criteria H0 rejected. Thus we can conclude that the results of students of year V State Primary School No. 15 Banda Aceh which was taught by applying Puzzle Earthquake and tsunami on the material of the earthquake and tsunami is better than learning results without applying puzzle earthquake and tsunami on the similar material. This findings would useful insights as well as pilot project for other schools that living in disaster areas. Keywords: disaster risk reduction knowledge, puzzle earthquake and tsunami
