Abstract

Abstract One way to improve the quality of the pavement is to use polymer modified asphalt. Natural rubber is a polymer type of elastomer with a relatively cheap price. As a producer of natural rubber, Indonesia needs to look for alternative uses of natural rubber, including use as a material modification of asphalt. This study was conducted by making 4 types of modified asphalt with Natural Latex KKK 60, each with a proportion of latex added of 0 %, 1 %, 3 %, and 5 %. Furthermore, the rheological properties of modified bitumen were tested using the tool Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) on fresh asphalt conditions, after short-term aging, and after long-term aging. The results showed that the addition of Natural Latex KKK 60 can improve the rheological properties of asphalt so that the asphalt becomes more elastic, more rigid, more resistant to rutting, and more resistant to cracking. However, the increase in rheological properties after short-term aging relatively is less due to the breakdown of the natural latex polymer molecule chains. Keywords: asphalt, modified asphalt, natural latex, rheology  Abstrak Salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan kualitas perkerasan jalan adalah dengan menggunakan aspal modifikasi polimer. Karet alam merupakan polimer jenis elastomer dengan harga yang relatif murah. Sebagai produsen karet alam, Indonesia perlu mencari alternatif pemanfaatan karet alam tersebut, termasuk memanfaatkannya sebagai bahan modifikasi aspal. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan membuat 4 jenis aspal yang dimodifikasi Lateks Alam KKK 60, yang masing-masing dengan proporsi lateks yang ditambahkan 0 %, 1 %, 3 %, dan 5 %. Selanjutnya, sifat reologi aspal yang dimodifikasi tersebut diuji dengan menggunakan alat Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) pada kondisi aspal fresh, setelah penuaan jangka pendek, dan setelah penuaan jangka panjang. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penambahan Lateks Alam KKK 60 dapat meningkatkan reologi aspal sehingga lebih elastis, lebih kaku, lebih tahan terhadap rutting, dan lebih tahan terhadap retak. Namun peningkatan sifat reologi setelah mengalami penuaan jangka pendek relatif lebih sedikit karena kemungkinan terjadi pemecahan rantai molekul polimer lateks alam. Kata-kata kunci: aspal, aspal modifikasi, lateks alam, reologi

Abstract

The biggest deposit of Asbuton (natural asphalt from Buton island) located in Lawele Region, it is called As buton Lawele, which has deposit about 100.000.000 tons. Compared to Asbuton Kabungka (the raw material of Granular Asbuton BGA which has met Special Specification of Hot Mix Asbuton). Asbuton Lawele relatively has higher bitumen content, higher light oil content, and higher bitumen penetration value. It has 30% bitumen content, 7% light oil content, and bitumen penetration value of 180 dmm. As Asbuton Lawele has special characteristic, there could be a special specification in order to use it for hot mix asphalt pavement. For that reason, based on the result of laboratory study, in this paper the Specification of Hot Mix Asbuton Lawele is proposed and with the reasons. Based on laboratory study, it is found that Hot Mix Asbuton Lawele hasrelatively similar characteristic with Hot Mix Asphalt Oil Pen 60/70, except the higher value of its Marshall Stability and Dynamic Stability. Hot Mix Asbuton Lawele has Marshal Stability value of 1030 kg, and Dynamic Stability of 3500 passing/mm. Whereas, Hot Mix Asphalt Pen 60/70 has Marshall Stability value of 930 kg, and Dynamic Stability of 1432 passing/mm. Keyword: Road pavement, Hot mix asphalt, Asbuton Lawele

Abstract

One of Asbuton technology utilization is to use Granular Asbuton as additive for hot mix asphalt pavement. By adding Granular Asbuton, the hot mix asphalt pavement will be more resistant to traffic load and deformation. To understand how the characteristic changes of hot mix asphalt pavement, in this research, Granular Asbuton was added around 0%, 4%, 7% and 10% to hot mix asphalt then these characteristic were tested. The result showed that the addition of Granular Asbuton can affect hot mix asphalt characteristic such as binder characteristic, density, voids (VMA, VIM, VFB), Marshall stability, flow, Marshall Quotient, and dynamic stability. Based on the partial correlation analysis, each characteristic has significant correlation. The result also showed that the optimum addition of Granular Asbuton is 7%.

Abstract

Asphalt durability level has to be known early or before the asphalt is decided to be used for pavement. In principle, asphalt durability level can be known base on chemical composition. The asphalt that has more reactive component has lower durability level than the asphalt that has more unreactive component. To know asphalt durability level, the reactive component compare with the unreactive component and it is called durability index. On the other hand, SUPERPAVE has developed TFOT (Thin Film Oven Testing) and PAV (Pressure Agging Vessel) testing to simulate field condition of asphalt in pavement. By this test, asphalt durability can be predicted. This paper explains the relation of asphalt durability index base on asphalt chemical composition with asphalt durability base on TFOT and PAV testing. The results, there isn’t correlation between asphalt durability index with asphalt durability based on TOFT and PAV. Because of that, to predict durability of asphalt, it is better if use conditioning by TFOT and PAV as SHRP recommendation.

Abstract

There are some problem in applying cold mix cutback asphalt, among others is the low evaporating rate or unpropper evaporating of the solvent. This case makes the initiate mixture has a long curing time and a low stability. In order to ever come that problem, we would like a perform the effect of natural rubber latex on characteristic of cold mix cutback asphalt and applying it in patching. The use of a few percent of natural rubber latex in cold mix could increase the viscosity, because of polymerization process in low temperature, of asphalt cut back binder rapidly, even the solvent has low evaporating rate or unpropper evaporated. Hence, the cold mix has a short curing time and a high stability. Beside that the rubber could increase the quality of residual binder in mixture such as elasticity.

Abstract

Zat elektrolit terlarut merupakan salah satu faktor penyebab terjadinya korosi plat baja dalam lingkungan air. Di a/am terdapat berbagaijenis zat elektrolit terlarut diantaranya NaF, NaCl, NaBr, Na/ dan Na'2S04 denganjumlah yang bervariasi. Dalam penelitian ini diteliti mengenai pengaruh berbagai jenis zat e/ektrolit terlarut dengan berbagai konsentrasi dan berbagai daya hantar listrik terhadap /aju korosi plat baja. Ternyata hasi/ penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi hanya memperlihatkan pengaruh jumlah zat elektro/it yang bersangkutan saja sedangkan daya hantar listrik dapat lebih umum yaitu memperlihatkan pengaruh jumlah beberapa zat elektrolit terlarut terhadap /aju korosi plat baja

Abstract

As the second largest natural rubber producer in the world, each year Indonesia produces 3.5 million tons natural rubber which most of it (85%) is sold (exported) to the international market. Currently its price in international markets is fall, of course Indonesia was greatly affected. In response to this condition, the government encourages the use of local natural rubber, including as an additive of asphalt to produce rubberized asphalt as an asphalt pavement binder. However rubberized asphalt products, produced using current technologies, are still inferior in terms of quality and price when compared to polymer modified asphalt which used imported synthetic polymer (SBS). In response to this, a new technology local natural rubber as a binder of hot mix asphalt was developed. The technology latex (which cheapest natural rubber) to modify petroleum asphalt in hot mix asphalt mixture when mixed in pug mill in AMP (Asphalt Mixing Plan). This study was carried out in the laboratory by testing the properties of asphalt and asphalt mixtures based on SKh-1.6.26 (Ditjen Bina Marga, 2018), then compared with current technologies rubberized asphalt and synthetic polymer modified asphalt. In this way, at a dry rubber content of 4.2% to asphalt, in addition to a cheaper price of 22%-25%, the quality of the rubberized asphalt in the mixture and the quality of its hot mix asphalt produced are also higher.
