Abstract

Lutung Jawa (Trachypithecus auratus) adalah satwa endemik Jawa dan Bali. Populasi lutung Jawa semakin mengalami penurunan dan masuk kategori satwa yang dilindungi. Penurunan populasi lutung jawa dapat disebabkan oleh berbagai macam penyakit yang diperparah dengan tingginya tingkat stres pada satwa. Javan Langur Center yang berlokasi di Cangar, Batu merupakan salah satu tempat untuk merehabilitasi lutung Jawa sebelum dilepasliarkan ke alam. Javan Langur Center terdiri dari tiga kandang yaitu kandang perawatan, kandang karantina dan kandang sosialisasi. Respon stress pada primata dapat dievaluasi dengan menggunakan indikator pengukuran hormon kortisol dan rasio neutrofil per limfosit. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kadar kortisol dan rasio neutrofil per limfosit sebagai indikator stres pada lutung Jawa di kandang perawatan dengan kandang karantina. Lutung Jawa dengan umur 2-7,5 tahun dan berjenis kelamin jantan dan betina. Pengukuran kadar kortisol dengan metode ELISA Indirect gelombang pada 450 nm dan diferensial leukosit diukur dengan hematology analizer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sampel pada kandang perawatan memiliki rata-rata kadar kortisol yang lebih tinggi (116,1 ng/mL) daripada kandang karantina (87,5 ng/mL), dan pengukuran rasio N/L pada kandang perawatan lebih tinggi (11,3) daripada kandang karantina (1,2).

Abstract

Fibrosis hati merupakan akumulasi berlebih matriks ekstraseluler. Prevalensi fibrosis hati hewan kecil dilaporkan mencapai 10% dari keseluruhan penyakit sistemik hewan kecil di Amerika Serikat. Salah satu bahan toksik yang menimbulkan fibrosis hati adalah carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh preventif ekstrak etanol daun jambu mete (Anacardium occidentale) terhadap produksi Interleukin-6 (IL-6) dan kadar superoxide dismutase (SOD). Daun jambu mete mengandung bahan aktif flavonoid yang memiliki efek antiinflamasi dan antioksidan. Penelitian ini merupakan studi eksperimental, post-test control only design dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap. Hewan coba mencit (Mus musculus) dibagi dalam 5 kelompok perlakuan, yaitu kelompok kontrol negatif, kontrol positif, kelompok preventif dengan dosis 500 mg/kg BB, 1000 mg/kg BB, dan 1500 mg/kg BB. Produksi sitokin IL-6 dihitung menggunakan metode flowcytometry, sedangkan kadar SOD diukur menggunakan spektofotometri. Data hasil uji dianalisa secara statistik ­one way ANOVA (α=0,05) dengan uji lanjutan Post Hoc Tukey. Simpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu preventif menggunakan ekstrak etanol daun jambu mete mencegah peningkatan produksi IL-6 dan meningkatkan kadar SOD pada mencit model fibrosis hati. Persentase produksi IL-6 pada kelompok perlakuan dosis 1500 mg/kg BB sebesar 2,58%. Kadar SOD pada kelompok perlakuan dosis 1500 mg/kg BB sebesar 4,23%.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine levels of LDL and liver damage in rats (Rattus norvegicus) models of type 1 diabetes mellitus inducted by streptozotocin (STZ) with etanol extract of turmeric (Curcuma Longa L) therapy. Animals used rat (Rattus norvegicus) 3-month-old males who were divided into 5 groups, each group consisting of four mice. The group was divided according to treatment: negative control (not induced by STZ), the positive control group (STZ induced), groups of rats DM 1 with etanol turmeric extract therapy a dose of 1.2 g / kg, groups of rats DM 1 with etanol turmeric extract therapy a dose of 1.8 g / kg, and groups of rats DM 1 with etanol turmeric extract therapy a dose of 2.7 g / kg. LDL levels measured by direct method and the severity of liver damage was observed through histopatology picture. The results showed that the etanol extract of turmeric dose of 2.7 g / kg in a rats model of type 1 diabetes mellitus can lower LDL levels up to 59.55%, and reduced the severity of fatty liver with reduced fat vacuoles. The conclusion from this study that the etanol extract of turmeric contains antioxidants that can lower LDL levels and reduced the severity of fatty liver in type 1 diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving turmeric juice (Curcuma domestic Val.) In drinking water on the number of Ascaridia galli worm eggs in broiler chickens. Chicken feces are collected every week, starting from the second week of 14 days until the fifth week or 35 days of age. The results of this study indicate that the effect of giving turmeric extract (Curcuma domestica Val.) In drinking water on the number of Ascaridia galli worm eggs in broiler chickens can be seen through the fecal collection at the age of 35 days. The data of variance analysis showed that the feces collection was carried out at the age of 14 days, the F count was smaller than the F table 5% (F hit <F tab 5%). The comparison between all treatments given to broilers and controls was not significant. Analysis of variance in fecal collection carried out at 21 days of age until feces collection was carried out at 35 days of age obtained the same results, namely between control (T0) and broiler chickens treated with certain levels of turmeric extract there were very significant differences (P <0.01 ), F table 1% smaller than F count (F tab 1% <F hit). Based on the research, it was concluded that giving turmeric juice in drinking water had a very significant effect on the number of Ascaridia galli worm eggs in broiler chickens. Turmeric juice can reduce the number of Ascaridia galli worm eggs in broiler chickens. Giving turmeric juice at the level of 30 grams / 500 ml (T3) has the same effect as giving turmeric juice at the level of 10 grams / 500 ml (T1). For this reason, giving turmeric juice is recommended at the level of 10 gr / 500 ml because besides being able to save costs, giving at that level has been able to reduce the number of Ascaridia galli worm eggs.
