Abstract

Porosity defect may be propagated by the failure of riser to compensate shrinkage rates. This research is to investigate the influence of the riser shape against porosity defect. The section of riser to be compared is between rectangular and circle shape. The casting process is used sand casting. The research result shows that section of riser significantly influence the porosity defect. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Cacat porositas dapat disebabkan akibat kegagalan fungsi riser untuk mengkompensasi penyusutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh bentuk riser terhadap cacat porositas. Bentuk penampang riser yang akan dibandingkan adalah segi empat dan bulat. Pengecoran yang digunakan adalah pengecoran cetakan pasir Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk penampang riser mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan bagi timbulnya cacat porositas. Kata kunci: riser, porositas, pengecoran cetakan pasir.
