Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakter ilmiah yang dapat berkembang pada diri mahasiswa setelah terlibat dalam kegiatan Problem Based Learning (PBL); dan keterkaitan antara Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS) dengan karakter ilmiah mahasiswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif yang tergolong studi perkembangan di bidang pendidikan yang berkaitan dengan tingkah laku. Subyek penelitian adalah mahasiswa jurusan pendidikan biologi FMIPA UNY peserta perkuliahan Kesehatan Lingkungan semester genap 2014/2015. Fenomena yang digali adalah PHBS dan karakter ilmiah mahasiswa serta kognitif mahasiswa tentang PHBS. Instrumen pengukuran PHBS diadopsi dari instrumen PHBS Depkes RI, serta pengukuran karakter ilmiah dengan instrumen yang dikembangkan dari deskriptor pengukuran karakter Depdiknas 2010. Pengukuran kognitif mahasiswa tentang PHBS dilakukan dengan memberikan pre test dan post test. Kegiatan PBL dilaksanakan dengan implementasi RPP model. Analisis data dengan statistik deskriptif dan tabulasi silang. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa belum semua mahasiswa dapat mencapai Mulai Konsisten pada karakter ilmiah Kreatif dan Rasa Ingin Tahu; tidak ada keterkaitan antara PHBS mahasiswa dengan karakter ilmiah mereka. Mahasiswa dengan PHBS yang tergolong Sangat Baik masih memiliki karakter ilmiah yang belum mencapai kategori Mulai Konsisten.Kata Kunci: Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS), Integrasi, Pendidikan KarakterDevelopment Clean and Health Living Behavior Through The Integration of Character Education in Environmental Health EducationAbstractThis study aims is to determine the scientific characters that can develop in students after participating in the activities of Problem Based Learning (PBL); and the linkage between Clean and Healthy Behavior (PHBS) with students' scientific character. The type of this study is descriptive that classified as a study of development in education that related with behavior. The subjects of the study were students of biology education department of mathematics and natural science in Yogyakarta State University, especially the participants of Environmental Health lectures on 2014/2015. The phenomenon being excavated is PHBS and students' scientific character as well as cognitive students about PHBS. PHBS measurement instrument was adopted from PHBS instrument in health department of RI, and measurement of scientific character with instrument developed from descriptor of Indonesian Ministry of Education 2010 character measurement. Student cognitive measurement about PHBS was done by giving pre test and post test. PBL activities are implemented with the implementation of RPP models. Data analysis with descriptive statistics and cross tabulation. The results of this study indicate that not all students can achieve a Consistent Start on the scientific character of Creative and Want to Know; there is no correlation between PHBS students with their scientific character. Students with PHBS who are classified as Very Good still have a scientific character that has not reached the Consistent Start category.Keywords: Clean and Healthy Lifestyle, Integration, Character Education
