Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different levels dietary asatxanthin supplementation on growth performance of Snakehead. This research was used completely randomized design and be repeated three times. The fish used are natural source with average body weight of 2,90±0,17 g. Fish were reared for 30 days in sized nets 100x100x50 cm3. The experimental obeserved were different levels astaxanthin supplementation, namely; 0, 100 and 200 mg/kg diet. The result showed that, fed on the diet supplemented with astaxanthin 200 mg/kg diet produced the best final weight, daily growth rate and feed efficiency (8.24 g, 4.14% and 85.31%). The supplementation astaxanthin 100 and 200 mg/kg diet did not affect on survival rate of snakehead

Abstract

Komering River is a river that flows in Serdang Menang Village, Sirah Pulau Padang sub district, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. Most of the community activities around the Komering River are utilizing river water for household activities, agriculture, sand mining and fish farming. With the increasing variety of activities contained in the Komering River, it can have an effect on the quality of the waters. Changes in water quality can be knoen from physical, chemical and biological indicators. For biological indicators, monitoring can be done through the presence of aquatic biota. One of the aquatic biota that is very susceptible to changes in the aquatic environment is plankton. The purpose of this study was to determine the abundance of plankton as a bioindicator of the tropic status of waters in the Komering River.  The study was conducted from March to April 2018 at the Komering River in Serdang Menang Village, Sirah Pulau Padang Sub District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. The method used is a field survey by determining the sampling station based on purposive random sampling. Sampling was carried out at 3 stations, namely the sand mining area (station 1), the KJA system fis cultivation area (station 2) and the densely populated residential area (station 3). Based on the result of study, the composition of plankton found in the Komering River consisted of phytoplankton (Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Cyanophyceae) and zooplankton (Mastigophora, Monogononta, Crustaceans). The highest abundance index of phytoplankton and zooplankton is found in station 2 (dense area of floating net cages) which iis 3.140 individuals/liter and 100 individuals/liter.  Trophic status of Komering River waters in Serdang Menang Village based on phytoplankton abudance including oligotrophic waters, while based on zooplankton abudance including mesotrophic waters.

Abstract

 AbstrakAdanya penurunan populasi ikan tambakan betina saat ini diperlukan upaya untuk mendukung keberlangsungan hidup ikan tambakan melalui teknik feminisasi. Feminisasi dapat dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan ekstrak daun kemangi (Ocimum sanctum L) karena mengandung fitoestrogen alami. Penelitian dilakukan selama 3 bulan di Workshop Pembenihan Ikan Fakultas Perikanan dan Kelautan Universitas PGRI Palembang dan Laboratorium Biologi Fakultas Sains dan Teknologi Universitas PGRI Palembang. Penelitian menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 6 taraf perlakuan dan 3 ulangan dengan perlakuan 0,5, 10, 20, 40, dan 80 mg/L. Penelitian ini diperoleh hasil perendaman ikan tambakan pada ekstrak kemangi menghasilkan persentase betina tertinggi pada perlakuan P4 (40mg/L) sebesar 85%. Pertambahan bobot ikan tambakan yang optimal diperoleh pada perlakuan P4 sebesar 0,66 g, pertambahan panjang yang optimal diperoleh pada perlakuan P4 sebesar 2,37 cm, sedangkan kelangsungan hidup ikan tambakan tertinggi yang dipelihara selama 30 hari pada perlakuan P4 sebesar 96,66%, dapat disimpulkan perlakuan P4 memberikan efek yang signifikan dalam setiap parameter pengamatan.AbstractThe decline in the population of female kissing gouramy is currently needed efforts to support pursued to support the survival kissing gouramy fish through feminization techniques. Feminization can be done by utilizing extracts from basil leaves (Ocimum sanctum L) because they contain natural phytoestogens. The research was conducted for 3 months at the Fish Hatchery Workshop of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, PGRI Palembang University and the Biology Laboratory of the Faculty of Science and Technology, PGRI Palembang University. The study used the Complete Random Design method with 6 treatment levels and 3 repeats with treatments of 0.5, 10, 20, 40, and 80 mg/L. From this study obtained the results of soaking kissing gouramy fish in basil extract result in the highest percentage of females at P4 treatment (40mg/L) which is 85%. The optimal weight gain of kissing gouramy fish is obtained at the P4 treatment of 0.66 g, the optimal length gain is obtained at the P4 treatment of 2.37 cm, while the survival of the highest kissing gouramy maintained for 30 days at P4 treatment was 96.66%, it can be concluded that the P4 treatment gives a significant effect in each observation parameter.
