Abstract

Measles is an acute highly contagious disease caused by Paramyxovirus. Measles is considered as a dangerous disease because it cause complications, brain and other organs damage, lifelong disability, paralysis and even death. In the previous studies, it was known that the spread of measles highly dependent on number of infected individuals so it is necessary to control measles through treatment. In this paper, we study about the application of the optimal control theory on the system of differential equations of the SIR endemic model. Determination of the optimal control is obtained through the application of the Pontryagin minimum principle. The main target in this paper is to find a unique optimal control where the optimal control can be described as an efficiency rate of treatment in individuals infected with measles to decrease the number of infected individuals.

Abstract

Tertiary education is a level of education after secondary education; it includes associate program, bachelor program, master program, specialist program, and doctorate program held by a higher educational institution. Through this higher educational institution, the students are taught to be professionals and experts in a certain area of discipline. Universitas Udayana, the oldest university in Bali, is one of the top universities in Indonesia that provides people with a high-quality education. One of the faculties in it is the faculty of mathematics and natural sciences which has six bachelor’s degree study programs, for example, mathematics program. This study program has three competencies, namely computational mathematics, financial mathematics, and statistics. Each competence has its respective applicant and the students have a certain consideration before choosing a certain competence. This study aimed to know the factors affecting the selection of a certain competence in the mathematics program in Universitas Udayana. The data analysis technique used here was the multiple regression analysis by modeling the dependent variables and independent variables. This study found that that the prospect of a certain competence had the most dominant effect on the students’ decision in choosing the competence in the Mathematics program in Universitas Udayana.

Abstract

Inequality in income distribution is one of the problems that are often experienced by some countries in the world. Income inequality in Indonesia is measured by an indicator named Gini Ratio. BPS Indonesia noted that in March 2021, the Gini Ratio in Indonesia was 0,384. This figure shows that Indonesia belongs to the category of moderate income inequality, which means that income in Indonesia is not well distributed or there is an inequality in income distribution. For this reason, the inequality that occurs needs to be decreased by recognizing the factors that affect it. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that significantly affect the Indonesia’s Gini Ratio in 2016-2020 by applying panel data regression. The results show that the model chosen to represent the Indonesia’s Gini Ratio in 2016-2020 is a fixed time effect model with of 40,282%, which is significantly be affected by the human development index, population, open unemployment rate, percentage of poor people, and average hourly wage for worker.

Abstract

Transportation problem is one of the problems that can be solved by using linear programming. Transportation method allow businessmen to minimize distribution costs, increase profits, and also fulfill the consumer needs at the same times. The transportation method has two stages of completion, namely the initial basic solution and the optimum solution. The initial basic solution has many developments, two of which are the Total Opportunity Cost Matrix Sum (TOCM-SUM) Approach and the Karagun Sahin Approximation Method (KSAM). Moreover, the optimal solution has two methods of completion, namely modified distribution and stepping stone. This study will compare two method between TOCM-SUM Approach and KSAM which then optimized by using stepping stone method.On other case, the result of using this two method might produce a different number, where as in this study by using TOCM-SUM Approach method will produce 9 alocation routes, meanwhile using KSAM will produce 10 alocation routes. The results from this study shows that KSAM produced a minimum distribution cost with a difference of Rp114.770,00 from the TOCM-SUM Approach.

Abstract

Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) is one of the disease outbreaks that has spread throughout the world since the end of 2019. This disease causes infected individuals to experience infections in the respiratory tract with a fairly high risk. One branch of mathematics that can help overcome this case is the formation of mathematical models. The model formed is the SIR model basically describes the spread of disease in the Susceptible (S), Infected (I), Recovered (R) classes, but in this study the Infected (I) class was classified into two and added parameters to decrease vaccine effectiveness. The former model is then used to find a solution in the form of a disease-free equilibrium point, where the point will be used to form a basic reproduction number. To prove that the equilibrium point found to be stable, a stability analysis will be carried out and in the model that has been formed it is found that the disease-free equilibrium point is locally asymptotic stable with the condition that. After analysis, it was found that the rate of decline in vaccine effectiveness was quite influential on the class of infection .
