Abstract

Sorgum (Sorgum bicolor L.) is a serelia plant which is potential to becultivated and grown in marginal areas. The advantages of sorghum lie in its extensive agroecological adaptability and resistance to drought. This commodity has a high nutrient content, so it is very good to be used as a source of food and alternative animal feed. Rhizoctonia sp. The cause of root rot is one of the important pathogens in sorghum plants. These pathogens can survive in the soil and can also survive in seeds. Microorganism that developed symbiosis with Zorgum is useful for growth stimulation and biocontrol. The objectives of the researcha re toidentify endofit mushroom that developed symbiosis on some varieties of zorgum and to make an antagonis test on Rhizoctonia sp, the cause of spoiled root disease. This research is conducted in several streas: firstly, take the sample of same varieties of zorgum lokal merah, lokal putih, and numbu in Naiola in Kecamatan Bikomi Selatan while the isolation and identification are held in Faculty of Agrociture of University of Timor and secendly, do antagonist test on Rhizoctonia sp. The study on lokal merah variety has found 7 izolats: Aspergilus sp 1, Aspergilus sp 2, Aspergilus sp 3, Fusarium sp 1, Fusarium sp 2, Trichoderma sp 2. Mushroom endofits found in lokal putih variety are Aspergilus sp.2, Aspergilus sp.3, Fusarium sp.1, dan Trichoderma sp.2. Mushrooms on numbu variety are Fusarium sp. 2, Aspergilus sp.2 dan Trichoderma sp.1. Endofit Mushroom from theroot ofzorgum has 3 genus Aspergilus sp, Fusarium sp dan Trichoderma sp. Trichoderma sp 1 has 20,1 % antagonist character.

Abstract

Community service has been carried out in the Nek'amnaut farmer group Kiusili village, Timor Tengah Utara district. The dedication was the use of eco-friendly herbicides made from salt, vinegar, water, and liquid soap. The dedication method was socialization and demonstration of making and spraying of the solution on weeds. Pre-service and post-service questionnaires were filled to find out farmer group knowledge of herbicides in general and the ability made environmentally friendly herbicides. The results showed that an eco-friendly herbicide solution has succeeded in killing weeds. Public knowledge changed from the category of not knowing to be well-informed, marked by an increased in the knowledge score (SP) from 24 to 76. The percentage of the number of farmer group members who well-informed changed from 0 to 83%. The ability category was change from unable to be very capable of making the herbicide, marked by the ability score (SK) increased from 0 to 83. The number of farmer group members who can make the herbicide increased from 0 to 89%. The intensity of the use of synthetic herbicides was decreased in the last three years. Five liters of an environmentally friendly herbicide solution killed weed in 48 m2 area.

Abstract

Sorghum variety Suri 4 is an alternative food crop known for its adaptability to dryland conditions. However, its productivity is often constrained by pest and disease infestations. Lemongrass (Cymbopogon nardus) contains natural active compounds with potential as an environmentally friendly botanical pesticide. This study aims to examine the effects of various concentrations and application frequencies of lemongrass leaf extract on the growth, yield, and levels of pest and disease incidence in Suri 4 sorghum. The research was conducted in Lapeom Village, Insana Barat Subdistrict, North Central Timor Regency, using a two-factor Randomized Block Design (RBD). The first factor was extract concentration (0, 50, 75, and 100 g/l), and the second was spraying frequency (3, 5, and 7 times), resulting in 36 experimental units. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a 5% significance level. The results indicated that the application of 100 g/l lemongrass extract combined with seven sprayings yielded the best performance in enhancing plant growth and sorghum yield, while effectively reducing aphid infestation and leaf spot disease incidence. Thus, lemongrass extract is recommended as a biological control strategy in sorghum cultivation under dryland conditions.
