Abstract

This paper objectives are to; (i) identification of risky slopes (within 4 Provinces in Sumatra including Provinces of Riau, West Sumatra, Jambi and South Sumatra encompassing 840 kms of the “Jalan Lintas Sumatra” highway) based on Rockfall Hazard Rating Systems (RHRS) method; (ii) developing alternatives to stabilize slope hazards, and (iii) selecting appropriate slopes stabilization techniques based on both proactive approach and value engineering one. Based on the Rockfall Hazard Rating Systems (RHRS) method, it was identified 109 steep slopes prone to failure within this highway section. Approximately, 15 slopes were identified as potential high-risk slopes (RHRS scores were calculated >200 points). Based on the proactive approach, seven riskiest slopes ware identified. The preferred stabilization alternatives to remedy most of these slopes are suggested as follow; either (i) a combination of retaining wall and drainage, or (ii) gabion structure and drainage. However, different approaches may yield different results, there are at least 2 main consideration in prioritizing slope stabilization; (i) based on the riskiest slopes, and(ii) the least expensive stabilization alternatives.

Abstract

Rockfalls are a natural and dynamic geologic process and is common in mountainous areas near cliffs of broken, faulted, or jointed bedrock, on steep slopes of rocky soils, or where cliffy bedrock ledges are undercut by erosion or human activity. Simulation of rock falls, along with analyzing kinetic energy and bounce height, can result in providing protection measures in the right places with the least costs. In this study, slopes that were analyzed is a manmade slope in quarry at Kloch, Austria.   Three different construction alternatives or barrier were then proposed:(i) constructing of a catchfences with a capacity to restrain the rockfall energy about 100 - 5000 kJ, (ii) construction of concrete barrier with the capacity up to 100 kJ, and (iii) construction of a wooden retaining wall with the capacity up to 30 kJ. Keywords: Simulation, Rockfall, barriers, slope

Abstract

Jalan Tol Binjai – Pangkalan Brandan merupakan bagian dari Jalan Tol Trans Sumatera berdasarkan Peraturan Presiden Nomor 117 tahun 2015. Dimana berdasarkan informasi dari Pihak Penyedia Jasa dan Pengguna Jasa mengalami keterlambatan dalam penyelesaiannya. Tujuan dari studi kasus ini adalah mengidentifikasi faktor penyebab keterlambatan, menganalisis risiko dengan pendekatan probabilistik. Studi kasus pada penelitian ini mengkombinasikan 2 metode analisis diharapkan dapat memberi masukan baru bagi para peneliti selanjutnya. Metode RII (Relative Importance Index) diperoleh 5 faktor dominan yang paling berpengaruh terhadap keterlambatan proyek ini adalah pembebasan lahan, investigasi lahan tidak memadai sebelum pekerjaan desain, data survey tidak akurat (pra desain), perubahan desain, perijinan terkait dengan pemerintah.
