Abstract

The earthquake that occurred in the West Halmahera region was very detrimental, even though the human casualties were not very significant. But it will affect the stability and capacity of a region in terms of regional development. The mapping of earthquake-prone areas is carried out by a probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) method to analyze soil movement parameters, namely Peak Ground Acceleration so that it can determine earthquake-prone areas in West Halmahera. The results of seismic hazard analysis show that the West Halmahera area is an area that is relatively prone to earthquake hazards because it is still strongly influenced by subduction (megathrust) earthquakes from the Philippine plate, Maluku sea and Sangihe. This is indicated by the value of earthquake acceleration on the Peak Ground Acceleration for the 500 year return period of around 0.38 - 3.69 g and 0.30 - 3.69 g for the 2500 year return period.

Abstract

The geological condition of Morotai Island is influenced by small faults and tectonic activity from several major and minor plates that form the subduction zone, are the Pacific plate, the Philippine plate, the Sangihe plate, and the Moluccas Sea plate. This causes Morotai Island to have a high potential for earthquake hazards. South Morotai is the center of government, services, trade and economy on Morotai Island, and has a high potential for earthquakes. Therefore, an analysis of the distribution of seismic vulnerability values in South Morotai was carried out based on mapping as a disaster mitigation effort in South Morotai. The microtremor method uses the H/V spectral ratio analysis technique to analyze the level of earthquake hazard based on the value of the seismic vulnerability index by considering local soil conditions. The ground frequency value (f0) obtained when measuring microtremor is between 0.6 Hz to 0.7 Hz. The amplitude value (A0) in the South Morotai area is around 1.9 – 5.2 times strengthening. The value of the seismic susceptibility index (Kg) in the study area is calculated based on the value of the basic frequency and amplitude with between 5.9 to 44.8. It was concluded that the distribution of a high Kg index and an earthquake prone area was in Darame Village, Muhajirin Village, and Wawama Village with a Kg value > 20. This area is composed of alluvium consisting of gravel, potential mud, and boulders, so it is classified into soft soil type. Less vulnerable areas are in Gotalamo Village, Daruba Pantai Village, and Darame Village

Abstract

The village, which is located in the Coastal District of Jailolo, West Halmahera, had a considerable impact from the earthquake. This is because the earthquakes that occur are influenced by tectonic earthquakes due to the movement and collision of tectonic plates on land and the seabed. If the collision causes a fault in the seabed, a tsunami can occur. The purpose of this study was to analyze the risk of earthquake disasters in supporting development planning and to produce an earthquake risk map for the coastal area of Jailolo District, West Halmahera. The analytical method used is descriptive quantitative, and the data collection model is a questionnaire with random sampling. The results obtained are in the form of a hazard value using the PGA value and produce the same PGA value, namely > 0.70 gal with a high category for Bobanehena Village, Saria Village, Payo Village, Bobo Village, and Idamdehe Village. The value of vulnerability (physical, social, and economic vulnerability) shows that Bobanehena Village has a high vulnerability index value with a score of 1.9. The capacity index value for the five villages has the same score of 3 and is included in the high class. So that the value of the earthquake risk level with a high class is obtained, namely in Bobanehena Village and Bobo Village. The high level of risk in the two villages is influenced by the frequency of occurrence of earthquakes with high intensity in the area, the impact of losses due to earthquakes is quite high. Earthquake risk reduction efforts will be maximized if a comprehensive earthquake risk assessment analysis is carried out and a commitment from the Government is carried out.

Abstract

Morotai Island has a wealth of iron sand which is a natural resource in Morotai Jaya District, Pangeo Village. The utilization of iron sand is still for local community building materials. The purpose of this study was to determine the structure and magnetic susceptibility of iron sand as a basic material for cathode materials in the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries (LIB). The research sample was taken randomly, then it was prepared in the laboratory to obtain dry-phase iron sand. After being tested using an XRD tool, namely samples A, E, and I, it was found that there was a lot of Fe3O4 contained in iron sand. The diffraction peaks indicate Fe3O4 material with an inverse spinel structure. Sample A is the most crystalline compared to sample I. Sample E has the lowest diffraction peak pattern due to the dominant mineral hematite (Fe2O3) 70.31%. The value of the BSM test obtained the greatest magnetic susceptibility of 82867.54x10-8m3 /kg. The smallest is in sample J with a value of 13186.98 54x10-8m3 /kg because during synthesis it is slightly attracted by magnets and the color is not too black which mixes a lot with other materials. In addition, this relationship is directly proportional to sample E which contains the magnetic material Fe2O3 of the characterization of 70.31. The range of magnetic susceptibility values in samples A to L is in the interval (46 – 80,000) x 10-8m3/kg, and (20,000 - 110,000) x 10-8m3/kg. Based on this interval, both magnetic and mass susceptibility of each iron sand sample contained ilmenite (FeTiO3) particles in the antiferromagnetic group and magnetite (Fe3O4) in the ferromagnetic group.

Abstract

ABSTRACT − Waya Makawa hot spring is the only hot spring in Ploly Village, Makian Island, North Maluku. Hot water utilization is still in the form of hot spring tourism and has not been explored further. The surface temperature of the Waya Makawa hot spring is quite high, so it is interesting to research because the temperature is the dominant parameter of geothermal areas. This study aimed to determine the mineral content of sintered silica and its relationship to surface temperature, as well as to determine the type of fluid (hot water) of Waya Makawa. The research method used is a quantitative method with mud samples to determine the content of sintered silica tested using the XRF method. A thermocouple temperature sensor measures The hot water sample for its surface temperature. Water samples were taken using a random sampling method to determine the content of chemical elements from hot springs and then analyzed using trilinear diagrams. The mineral content test results obtained in the Waya Makawa mud sample have a fairly high silica mineral content. Point 1 has a silica mineral content of 54.49%, while at point 2 it is 57.84%. At the location of point 1, the average surface temperature obtained is around 37.6 o C, while at point 2 it is around 40.6 o C. The relationship between surface temperature and mineral content in Waya Makawa hot water is very significant, the higher the temperature, the greater the silica mineral content at that point. The results of the chemical analysis show that the Waya Makawa hot spring is an alkaline chloride fluid type and is immature water, as well as an indication of a high permeable zone (fault). This hot water domination system is located in low relief, has been altered with silica characteristics, has silica sinter reserves, and occurs in many tectonic fault systems.
