Abstract

Eggplant (Solanum melongena L) is a plant that is well known in the wider community. The demand for eggplant is currently increasing. In 2017-2018, eggplant production increased, although it did not meet market demand. One of the causes of eggplant yields not sufficient to market demands is not appropiate of cultivation technique. One of the efforts that can be made to increase the productivity of eggplant is the use of liquid organic fertilizer and the right concentration. The purpose of the research was to find out the effect of liquid organic fertilizer and concentration on the growth and yield of eggplant. The research was conducted on the field of Kenanten village, Puri district, Mojokerto in March 2020 – June 2020. The research is arranged using a Completely Randomized Factorial Design with two factors, firstly the type of liquid organic fertilizer (P) consisting of P0 = Control; P1 = Commercial Liquid Organic Fertilizer; P2 = Kelanalagi Liquid Organic Fertilizer; P3 = Compost tea and concentration (K) consisting of K1 = 4 ml/l water; K2 = 6 ml/l water; K3 = 8 ml/l water. The result showed that there was no interaction between the type of liquid organic fertilizer and the concentration of all observation parameters

Abstract

Tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum, mill.) is one of the horticultural commodities with high economic value. The demand is increasing from time to time. One of the factors that decrease productivity in tomato cultivation is due to high flower loss. This study aims to determine the effect of the best dose and time application of coconut water on the growth and yield of tomato plants. The research was conducted in March-June 2020 at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur. The research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) two factors which is dose and time application of coconut water that repeated three times for each treatment combination. The first factor was the dosage of coconut water with 4 levels, 0 ml/p; 500 ml/p; 1000 ml/p, and 1500 ml/p. The second factor was the time application of coconut water with 3 levels, 30 DAP, 45 DAP, and 60 DAP. The results showed that the combination treatment with a dosage of 500 ml with a time of application of 45 DAP showed the highest yields on the total number of harvested fruit, total harvested fruit weight, and fruitset.

Abstract

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) is a horticultural commodity that has high economic value in Indonesia. Efforts to increase the productivity and quality of shallots will continue to be carried out through plant breeding programs. One of the efforts is through mutation breeding with the aim of improving the Bauji variety so that it has high yields, good quality and is resistant to major pests and diseases. One of the factors that play a role in increasing shallot production is superior varieties. For the assembly of superior varieties, it is necessary to expand genetic diversity, one of which can be done by radiation mutation. With radiation mutations, new genetic diversity is created so that it provides more opportunities for selection. This research was carried out using the single plant method and using the T-test, with the yield of shallots with radiation doses without radiation doses or 0 Gy, 1 Gy, 2 Gy, 3 Gy, 4 Gy, 5 Gy, 6 Gy. Observation parameters included plant length, number of leaves, number of tillers, tuber diameter, and tuber weight. This study aims to obtain the value of genetic diversity and heritability on the agronomic characters of shallots of bauji variety with 60Co gamma-ray radiation treatment. Gamma-ray irradiation of 60Co affects the growth and yield characteristics of the fourth generation Bauji variety of shallots. Irradiation treatment with a dose of 4 Gy (B4) had better results on the parameters of plant length, number of leaves, tuber diameter, and number of tillers than control plants or without irradiation.
