Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of tomato paste on blood cholesterol in mice. It was an experimental study using a complete randomized study design consisting of four treatments P0, P1, P2, and P3 by giving tomato paste solution in a concentration of 0%, 20%, 40% and 80% and 6 replications. Data were analyzed using Anova one path and continued with BNT with a confidence level of 95%. The results showed that the tomato paste solution affected the blood cholesterol of mice due to Fhit (3.27) F tab (3.10) and the treatment that gave the greatest effect was on giving the concentration of tomato paste solution by 80%.

Abstract

Online learning is extremely common during the Covid-19 pandemic. That sudden alteration, from offline to online learning affect the learning process including the perception of students and teachers using online learning platform. The aims of this study are to determine the students’ perceptions of class XI MIA on online biology learning by using Madrasah E-Learning at MAN Penajam Paser Utara. The data was collected by conducting the observations, interviews and questionnaires. The questionnaire was in Likert scale form that has been valid and reliable (ralpha= 0, 836) with a very strong category. The indicators that were studied include the indicators of student activity, indicators of student perceptions of Madrasah E-Learning and the indicators of factors that affect learning in network (online). Descriptive statistical techniques were the data analysis technique that was used in the form of descriptive, frequency distribution and percentage. The results showed that the activity based on the attendance and collection of student assignments during online biology learning was in the good category. Students' perceptions of Madrasah E-Learning are in very positive category with 63.89%. However, the use of Madrasah E-Learning is still not effective due to network constraints and the lack of teacher skills and knowledge regarding the use of Madrasah E-Learning features. The factors that influence learning in the network include learning support facilities such as cellphones and laptops, network factors and internet quotas, motivational factors, learning interest factors, family factors, home atmosphere factors, environmental factors, and economic factors

Abstract

The low understanding of concepts can be caused because the learning process is not maximized which makes students inactive, unable to think independently, more practical to find answers on the internet, and unable to express what they have learned. Digital School Books as a medium and learning model Survey, Question, Read, Reflection and Review (SQ4R) is an alternative that can activate students and make it easier to remember concepts so that learning is more meaningful. The purpose of this study was to describe the effect of the SQ4R learning model with digital school books on students' understanding of biology concepts in class VII at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah Nurussa'adah Sangkulirang Islamic Boarding School. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. The study population was students of class VII, using cluster random sampling technique which produced class VII.B as the experimental class and class VII.A as the control class. The results of the data analysis showed that there was an influence of the SQ4R learning model with digital school books on the understanding of biology concepts for class VII students at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah Nurussa'adah Sangkulirang Islamic Boarding School.

Abstract

Salmonella typhi causes typhus, which continues to be a health challenge in various countries. One alternative to inhibit bacterial growth is to use antibacterial compounds from plants. Leaves of moringa (Moringa oleifera L.) and kirinyuh (Chromolaena odorata L.) have secondary metabolites that are known to have antibacterial properties. Determining the secondary metabolite composition of the two leaf types and evaluating the impact of extract combination on Salmonella typhi inhibition are the goals of this study. An experimental approach employing This investigation was carried out utilizing a completely randomized design (CRD), which included five different extract concentrations that were examined using the well diffusion method, a negative control, and a positive control (chloramphenicol). The outcome of phytochemical analysis show that both leaves contain alkaloids, phenolics, tannins flavonoids, steroids and saponins. However, the inhibition test showed that neither the single extract nor the combination of Moringa and kirinyuh leaves formed a clear inhibition zone, whereas the chloramphenicol used as a control was 28.9 mm. Thus, moringa and kirinyuh leaf extracts did not show antibacterial activity against Salmonella typhi. However, chloramphenicol proved successful in preventing these germs from growing.

Abstract

Analysis of Student Learning Difficulties in Learning Biology on Virus Material for Class XI SMAN 5 Samarinda in the 2023/2024 Academic Year. This research aims to describe and analyze learning difficulties and the factors that cause students' learning difficulties in viral material. This research uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The technique used in sampling in this research was purposive sampling with classes XI-2 and XI-3. The data analysis method in this research is descriptive statistics for analysis. The results of this research show that the factors causing students' learning difficulties come from internal factors amounting to 69% and external factors amounting to 65% belonging to the high influential criteria. The factor that causes the highest learning difficulties from internal factors is the talent indicator at 79%, while the factor that causes the highest learning difficulties from external factors is the teacher-student relationship indicator at 77%.

Abstract

The Effect of Combination of White Ginger (Zingiber officinale var Amarum) and Bay Leaf (Syzygium polyantum) Botanical Pesticides on the Intensity of Insect Pest Attacks on Tomato Plants (Solanum lycopersicum L.). This study aims to determine the effect of the combination and to determine the most effective concentration for reducing insect pest attacks on tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum). The type of research used is an experiment using a randomized block design (RAK) consisting of 5 treatments, namely, T0 (Control), T1 (15%), T2 (30%), T3 (45%), and T4 (60%) with 5 repetitions. Then analyzed using 1-way Anova. Based on the results of the calculation of 28 HST, where Fcount (123.28) > (4.77), at 42 HST Fcount (93.66) > (4.77), at 56 HST Fcount (59.52) > (4.77), at 70 HST Fcount (30.85) > (4.77), and at 84 HST Fcount (33.93) > (4.77). So the most effective concentration in suppressing insect pests is the concentration of T4 (60%). Based on data analysis, there is a very real effect of administering the plant pesticides White Ginger (Zingiber officinale var Amarum) and Bay Leaves (Syzygium polyantum) on the intensity of insect pest attacks on tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum L.).
