Abstract

Penciptaan cermin hias kriya ukir kayu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses dan hasil penciptaan cermin hias kriya ukir kayu berbasis motif Melayu. Penciptaan cermin hias kriya kayu ini menerapkan motif-motif Melayu dikarenakan banyaknya masyarakat yang tidak mengenal motif Melayu. Penciptaan cermin hias kriya ukir kayu berbasis motif Melayu ini menggunakan metode penciptaan karya seni menurut Gustami yang terdapat tiga tahap penciptaan yaitu tahap eksplorasi, perancangan dan perwujudan. tahap eksplorasi adalah penjelajahan menggali sumber ide, perancangan adalah memvisualisasikan hasil dari penjelajahan atau analisa data kedalam berbagai alternatif desain, dan perwujudan adalah mewujudkan rancangan terpilih. Karya cermin hias kriya ukir kayu berbasis motif Melayu ini diciptakan sebanyak 10 karya. Motif-motif Melayu yang diterapkan pada karya cermin hias ukir kayu ini adalah bunga melati, bintang-bintang, pelana kuda kencana, bunga kiambang, bunga cengkih, kaluk pakis dan bunga hutan. teknik yang digunakan dalam penciptaan cermin hias kriya ukir kayu ini adalah teknik ukir tembus/krawang, teknik ukir datar dan teknik ukir tinggi/dalam. Kata kunci : Penciptaan, Ukir Kayu, Motif Melayu

Abstract

The creation of this work was motivated by the author's interest in making wall decoration wooden craft artworks inspired by the Malangan Mask dance characters. The author found unique and interesting things about the Malangan Mask dance characters such as facial expressions, eye expressions and different mask characteristics. This research aims to realize cultural, ethnic, artistic, social and philosophical visualization. The Creation Method used in the creation of wooden crafts for wall decoration of Malangan Mask dance characters by Nirwana and Andito (2017), namely starting from the internalization of ideas, the formulation of the concept of creation and the execution of the creation of works of art. The creation of this wall decoration is embodied in 12 works. The 12 wall decoration works have the same size of 25 cm x 52.8 cm. In this case, the author will create a wooden craft work hanging the wall of the Malangan Mask dance character using carving techniques. The characters of the Malangan Mask dance that will be applied include: (1) Panji Asmorobangun (Side 1), (2) Panji Asmorobagun (Side 2), (3) Dewi Sekartaji (Side 1), (4) Dewi Sekartaji (Side 2), (5) Raden Gunung Sari (side 1), (6) Raden Gunung Sari (side 2), (7) Dewi Ragil Kuning (Side 1), (8) Dewi Ragil Kuning (Side 2), (9) Klana Sewandana (Side 1), (10) Sewandana Clan (Side 2), (11) Bapang Joyo Pangangun Angun (Side 1), (12) Bapang Joyo Pangangun Angun (Side 2).

Abstract

Wood Craft is the art or skill in making an item that has a decorative function, Wood carving is an art that requires technical skills, also involves creativity in design and execution in its creation using wood as the main medium, in its creation the author made this work for wall decorations based on Traditional Karo Ornaments. The choice of Karo Ornaments in this work is because the author sees many types and uniqueness in their forms and in an effort to preserve Karo culture, especially in traditional ornaments. In the process the author uses carving techniques including recapan, buledan, krawinga, and krawengan. These techniques help the author in creating varied works. The stages of creation in this work the author uses the method proposed by S.P Gustami. The stages of the process of creating a work of art from this method are: 1. Exploration Stage 2. Design Stage 3. Realization Stage. The process of creating this work begins with making a design, transferring the design to wood media, carving wood according to the design pattern, sanding/smoothing the wood, and finishing with a layer of varnish. The result of this creation is 12 different sized craft works made of wood media for wall decorations based on Karo ornaments with carving techniques
