Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop Papan Roda Baca Pintar media, to reveal the feasibility of Papan Roda Baca Pintar Media and the students’ response after using Papan Roda Baca Pintar Media in learning early reading. The research method used was research and development adapting and modifying Borg and Gall research model which consisted of 6 stages of research; they were problem analysis, data collection, product design, design validation/expert testing, design revision, and product testing/limites trials. The product was tested to students door to door, with the permission of the teacher. The product feasibility was based on the assessment results from material experts, linguists, media experts, and students’ response questionnaires. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentations. The results of research and development showed that after a series of trials, questionnaires, amd experts’ validations, Papan Roda Baca Pintar media was very feasible. Based on the assessment from material experts, the percentage was 94% with a very feasible category while the percentage from the linguists’ assessment was 71% with a feasible category. After that, the result from the media experts was 85% in the very feasible category, and the last, the result from limited trials (response questionnaires) was 95% which was also in the very good category on the Likert Scale. This result was interpreted by the feasible test and the result was very feasible.

Abstract

Speaking skill refers to the ability of student to convey ideas they have. This research was conducted by using a questionnaire method in R&D research by collecting data through observation and interviews. The purpose of this study was to produce feasible (valid)  finger puppet media based on local wisdom for the students’ speaking skills at grade IV SDN Cikande Permai. This study utilized R&D model proposed by Sugiyono (2010:409) consisting of six steps, namely: (1) Analysis of Problems, (2) Data Collection, (3) Product Design, (4) Design Validation, (5) Design Revision, (6) Product Testing. The products were tested on the teacher and students at grade IV by taking a sample of 10 students. The validation result from material experts was 87% while the validation result from the linguists was 84%; and the validation result from media experts was 83%, with the criteria of very feasible, so that the product could be used as the learning media. Moreover, the field trial was conducted by distributing students’ response questionnaire. The results of the questionnaire obtained a percentage of 9.37% with a very good category. Thus, it could be concluded that local wisdom – based finger puppet media was declared feasible to be used in learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop trilingual smartbook media, to determine the feasibility of the trilingual smartbook, and to determine students' responses to trilingual smartbook. This research was conducted on 10 students at grade III of elementary school in a limited trial. This research utilized the Borg and Gall model which consisted of six stages, namely problem analysis, data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, and limited product trial. The instruments were a questionnaire sheet for product validation by expert lecturers and a questionnaire sheet for students' responses. Based on the analysis, the quality of the trilingual smartbook was categorized as very feasible with a percentage of 91% by two media experts, very feasible with a percentage of 92% by two material experts, and a feasible category with a percentage of 80% by two linguists. Moreover, the students' response to the trilingual smartbook was 96% with a very good category. Based on this, it can be said that the trilingual smartbook is appropriate to be used as a media of literacy facility for third grade elementary school students.
