Abstract

Paper engineering or often referred to pop-up has been growing and gaining popularity among people. Yet, until todaythere have been no well-structured mapping made in the study of paper engineering as done in other studies in art anddesign. This research, therefore, aims to map the concept, principle, mechanisms, and elements of paper engineering forcreators and people who are interested in exploring the art of paper engineering to learn. The research is done throughliterature study, either from books or the internet; it was taken from interviews with professional paper engineers inIndonesia. Based on the results of this research, the principle of paper engineering consists of five principles: interactivity, compact, consistency, flexibility, and surprise. The mechanism of paper engineering can be classified into two categories:the movement and the form of the mechanism. The study also reveals that the whole mechanism of paper engineeringconsists of four types of elements: the base page, the object being moved, the moving object, and the builder element. The results of this research can be used as a study reference about the art of paper engineering for students, teachers, practitioners, and fans of paper engineering art.

Abstract

Abstract

An adaptive e-learning system is a system that caters to the needs of learners such as their learning style and knowledge. The adaptive e-learning system has been proven to improve the outcomes of learners and increase their motivation to learn. Several techniques could be used to create an adaptive e-learning system, one of them is adjusting the materials according to learners’ learning style. VARK Learning style is one of the learning styles that is fitted to be applied to adaptive e-learning systems and help learners understand how they learn better. To make an adaptive e-learning system based on VARK learning styles, there are several things to be noted. An adaptive e-learning system has three main components consisting of learner model, domain model, and adaptation model. Since the VARK learning style is flexible, it could be adjusted according to the study materials when needed by combining one style with another to create a combined style suited to the study materials. A multimodal mode is also needed to fully cater to the needs of learners who have more than one learning style. This can be done by providing them with features representing each of the main four VARK learning styles and letting the learners choose the needed features. This paper emphasizes the main foundation of an adaptive e-learning system and the needs of multimodal features in it, including a design framework to help get a better understanding of designing an adaptive e-learning system for learning applications.

Abstract

In the last two decades, museums have experienced rapid changes in the application of technology. Some museums use digital technology to stimulate visitor curiosity and present collections interestingly. Technological developments can be enjoyed by various age groups and become an opportunity to attract visitors, especially young people. The mini museum Atsiri Sarinah Jakarta presents the experience of plants with the application of digital technology, one of which is video mapping. Applying elements that visitors really like because they have aesthetic qualities that have a positive effect, namely plants. This is intended to make visitors more enthusiastic about exploring the museum space. The purpose of this research is to validate the extent to which visitors can learn information through experience, regarding the role of the museum space in educating essential oil products as Indonesian cultural heritage. The research was conducted using a mixed method exploratory sequential approach, qualitatively conducting interviews with Atsiri and quantitatively providing questionnaires to validate the learning experience of visitors. The results show the learning experience through digital installations such as video mapping makes visitors learn new and interesting things, understand all the information during the visit, and learn more about essential oil products.
