Abstract

The research aims to improve the quality of student’s content writing in biology through implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The research is a Classroom Action Researc carried out for 3 cycles. Subjects of this research were students of class XI MIPA 4 SMA N 7 Surakarta with the number of 31 learners. The research data was collected through writing documentation, observation and interviews. The validity of the data is performed using the technique of triangulation method. The research using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results of the analysis of quality students content writing in the pre-cycle is 0; cycle 1 identified a score of 2, 3 and 4; 2 cycles identified a score of 2, 3, 4 and 5; score 3 identified a score of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. All quality content writing cycle 1 to cycle 3 are at level 1 in the category of writing skills. Keywords: PBL, quality of content writing, level writing skills, content writing score

Abstract

The research objective was to improve student’s Intergated Science Process Skill (SPS) on biology by guided inquiry learning combined with brainstorming activities of XI MIA 2 SMA N 1 Karanganyar. The research was Classroom Action Research with 2 cycles which consisted of 4 phases namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. Intergated Science Process Skill was assessed in this research were constructing hypothesis, designing investigation, investigation, collecting and processing data was assessed by observation and integrated SPS cognitive test. The subject of the research was 36 students of XI MIA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar academic year 2014/2015. The data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive technique. The result in cycles I and II showed that Intergated SPS on biology significantly increased by the guided inquiry learning model combined with brainstorming activities. The improvement based on observation results in constructing hyphothesis was about 62,8%, designing investigation was about 72,69%, investigation was about 79,63%, and collecting and processing data was about 68,98%. The improvement based on Integrated SPS cognitive test results in constructing hyphothesis was about 91,67%, designing investigation was about 82,41%, collecting and processing data was about 65,97%. The research concluded Integrated SPS was significantly increased guided inquiry model combined with brainstorming activities at grade XI MIA 2 in SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar Keywords: guided inquiry learning model, integrated science process skill, brainstorming activities

Abstract

The research aimed to enhance student’s curiosity by implementation of inquiry learning model on reproductive system at  grade XI MIA 8 SMAN 1 Karanganyar academic year 2014/2015.This research was a Classroom Action Research that performed within 3 cycles. Each cycle consisted of 4 steps, there are planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subject is 31 students of grade XI MIA 8 SMAN 1 Karanganyar academic year 2014/2015. Data were obtained by observation, test, interview, and documentation. The data were analyzed by qualitative descriptive technique. To measure student’s curiosity student’s activity had been observed and questionaire had been distributed as well. Precycle showed that student’s curiosity of grade XI MIA 8 SMAN 1 Karanganyar were low in each aspect, 1) Curiosity to get information and intellectual fact was 30,64%, 2) Curiosity to accommodate the experiences with sense was 38,71%, 3) Desire to knowing more about the part of science which exist was 32,26%, 4) Curiosity to explore existing knowledge was 48,39%.               keywords: inquiry learning model, curiosity

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to increase the analytical thinking of X-6 students of SMA Negeri Kebakkramat by using guided inquiry learning model combined with concept map. This research is classroom action research  execute in 3 cycles. Each cycles consist of 4 stages, the 4 stages is scheming, implementation, observation and  reflection. The procedure of this research use Kemmis and Mc Taggart method. The subject of this research is X-6 students of SMA Negeri Kebakkramat school year 20014/2015 which amounts to 34 students consist 8 boys students and 26 girls students. This data of this research be obtained by using analytical thinking observation method, analytical thinking test, interview and documentation.This results of this research by using guided inquiry learning combined with concept map shows increase analytical thinking X-6 students of SMA Negeri Kebakramat from pra cycle, cycle I, cycle II and cycle III. The overall score the analytical thinking increase from 4,88 (40,69%) become 7,31 (60,91%). Differentiating aspect increase from 1,32 (47,79%) become 2,28 (56,99%), organizing aspect increase from 1,91 (47,79%) become 2,87 (71,69%) and attributing aspect increase from 1,65 (41,18%) become 2,16 (54,04%). Based on result of this research by using guided inquiry learning combined with concept map can increase the analytical thinking of X-6 students SMA Negeri Kebakkramat. Keywords: guided inquiry learning, concept map, analytical thinking ability

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the effect of brainstorming actvity in Learning Cycle 5E learning model towards sciencetific literacy ability aspect of scientific nomenclature, rules of scientific evidence, postulate of science, scientific disposition, major misconception about science and, intellectual process skills. The research method is experimental research with Randomized Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The research population is all students of class XI IPA SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar. The sample of research choosed with simple ramdom sampling technique and obtained two classes namely class XI IPA 4 as experiment class and XI IPA 1 as control class. Data collection techniques use tests and observations. Normality and homogeneity test are performed as a requirement of hypothesis test. The data analysis technique used Manova test and advanced testing using Tukey test.The research procedure includes planning, implementation and data analysis.Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded thatthere is effect of brainstorming actvity in Learning Cycle 5E learning model towards sciencetific literacy ability on aspect of scientific nomenclature, rules of scientific evidence, postulate of science, scientific disposition, major misconception about science and, intellectual process skills. The effect of brainstorming actvity in Learning Cycle 5E learning model on aspects of sciencetific literacy ability from highest to lowest is scientific disposition more than postulate of science, scientific nomenclatur equal to postulate of science, then major misconception about science and intellectual process skills.
