Abstract

Abstract Overweight and obesity in school-age children have become public health problems. 75% of children who are obese at school age will be obese in adulthood. The first aim to monitor nutritional status, mentoring eating behavior, and physical activity for SDN students who have overweight and obese. The second goal is to increase the capacity of food keepers about good, healthy and safe food so that it can maintain the health of school children and control obesity. This community service was carried out at SDN Menteng Dalam 07 Pagi, targeting elementary school students in grades 4, 5, 6 who have over nutritional status and obesity and previously participated in the healthy class program held by the South Jakarta Health Office and local Puskesmas and canteen peddlers. Assistance was carried out for 1 month with monitoring of body weight, height, intake, and physical activity. After mentoring, it was found that the prevalence of nutrition decreased by more than 1.2%, decreased energy intake (8.9%), fat (2.2%), carbohydrates (8.9%), and increased physical activity by 11.1% in the category moderate. Beside that there was an increase in knowledge about healthy food and large portion of children’s meals according to their needs, and how to maintain good sanitation hygiene so as to maintain clean and safe food. The school’s commitment as a pilot school to control obesity was approved by policy makers and curriculum  reforms will be carried out, especially to review physical activity curricula in schools.  Keywords: School aged obesity, intake, physical activity, coaching

Abstract

Background: The impact of stunting children is an enhancement in the incidence of morbidity and mortality, development cognitive, motoric, nonoptimal children verbal, enhancement of health costs, nonoptimal as an adult, enhancement risk of obesity, decreased health of reproduction, low capacity of learning, productivity and also work capacity which is not optimal.Purpose: The objective of this research is to find out overview of nutritional intake, infection and sanitation against stunting children under aged tree years.Method: The research design was cross section with the population of a household that have a children aged 6-35 months. A sample of 368 children aged 6-35 months were taken in a cluster.Results: There was no dependence on stunting with the length of birth (p0.05), and there was no dependance on stunting with the weight of birth (p 0.05). There is no relation between maternal education level with stunting (p 0.05). There is no relation between maternal energy intake with stunting (p 0.05).  There was a significant difference (p = 0.025) on stunting based on giving feed or ekslusif breastmilk.Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the time of complementary feeding with exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting children under aged three years.Suggestion: Education is required for prospective mothers or mothers who have babies for giving breastmilk (ASI) until the baby is six months old or exclusively breastfed.

Abstract

This study discusses the fitness level of male students based on smoking habits , nutrient intake , physical activity and nutritional status as measured by cardiorespiratory endurance using YMCA-3 minutes step test.The design is descriptive analytic with cross-sectional study. The data were collected from 67 male students at SMAN 108 Jakarta. Study results showed that 58,2 % student is not fit, 41,8 % student is light smoker, 89,6 % deficiency energy intake, 80,6 % deficiency protein intake, 71,6 % deficiency vitamin B1, 56,7 % deficiency vitamin C, 52,2 % deficiency Fe intake, 73,1 % having weight physical activity and 28,4% malnutrition status. Chi-Square Test shows that fitness level of students depends on smoking habits (p=0,039), energy intake (p=0,001), vitamin B1 intake (p=0,012), and Fe intake (p=0,039). In order to increase the fitness status , it is advisable for students to organize a healthy lifestyle by quitting smoking , exercising regularly and increasing daily nutrient intake

Abstract

Nutritional status is a meansure of success in fulfilling nutrition for children as indicated by weight and height, the nutritional problems that most often occur inadolescents are lack of nutritional intake and excess nutritional intake that can lead to obesity. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of fast food intake, phsycal activity and screen time on nutritional status of students at Hang Tuah 2 Junior High School, South Jakarta. This research was conducted at Hang Tuah 2 Junior High School, South Jakarta for 2 weeks in a row. This research is descriptive with a cross sectional approach. Sampling was done by using a simple random sampling method and the number of samples was 70 people. The results of this study showed that stundents with obese nutritional status (22.8%) and overweigth nutritional (57.2%) were found to be more than students with normal nutritional status (20%). Based on the intake of fast food, students have more frequent consumption of fast food, which is 74.3% of students. Based on phsycal activity, most of the students did physical activity which was classified into the light activity category (85.7%). Based on the duration of screen time, students who have overweight and obese nutritional status are more likely to have screen time duration always compared to students who have normal nutritional status.

Abstract

Nutrition is one of the factors that play a role in the rate of growth and development of infants as a superior generation in the future. Family mentoring activities are a form of community empowerment by studying existing problems and efforts to overcome them so that families can be free from nutritional problems. This mentoring program aims to help families improve knowledge, feeding practices, and nutritional status before and after family mentoring for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children under two years old. This activity was carried out using lecture and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) methods, then continued with assistance in feeding practices. Eight respondents comprised three pregnant women, three breastfeeding mothers, and two children under two years old. The implementation began with strengthening cadres regarding child and maternal feeding practices and how to conduct monitoring and evaluation. The mentoring was carried out for two months with weekly monitoring and evaluation. Based on the mentoring results, there was an increase in knowledge among mothers of toddlers, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. In addition, feeding practices also improved, and the weight of children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers also increased. It can be concluded that mentoring focused on feeding practices can improve the nutritional conditions of children and pregnant/breastfeeding mothers who are malnourished.
