Abstract

An accident in the working place can be avoided by knowing and recognizing the various potential hazards that exist in the working environment. The most popular and most commonly used analysis method of the potential hazards in the working place is Job Safety Analysis (JSA). Job Safety Analysis (JSA) is a method of analysis towards potential hazards in working place by analizing working system and working procedure as well as human as the workers. This research is a descriptive survey that illustrated the safety analysis process using the Job Safety Analisys (JSA) with the aim to figure out the process that has the highest potential hazards. The object in this study is the coal chain process which consists of coal getting, coal crushing, coal hauling, and coal barging at PT Mifa Bersaudara mining in 2014. The research shows that coal barging is the most hazardous process of coal chain process. High level potential hazards exist as falling from altitude when climbing the ship body, stinged by high voltage electricity when turning on crusher machine, sabotage by villagers who block hauling road and the falling of bucket excavator to the hoper crusher. Researcher suggests to the management of PT Mifa Bersaudara mining to keep increasing the work safety and healthy by controlling various potential hazard in each process especially the coal chain. Abstract

Promoting Occupational Health and Safety among workers, employers, and the community is essential for the company. This is considered important because. Health and Safety Promotion with the main goal pursued labor to fix the safe behavior while working. The purpose of this study is to find out what the relationship between the promotion of Health and Safety with safe behavior on the production employees of palm oil processing PTPN IV Kebun Dolok Ilir. This study is a cross sectional analytic design, the samples are 44 people (random sampling). Analysis of the data used univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test. The results showed most workers ≥ 48 years were 26 persons (59.1%), high school education last at most 30 people (68.2%), the most widely tenure ≥ 17 years for a total of 35 persons (79.5 %), and the majority of employees working in the unit boiler station 7 people (15.9%). Univariate test results obtained by the application of Health and Safety Promotion, namely training and the Health and Safety months activities the majority of respondents said it was bad to the percentage of training as many as 28 people (63.6%) and health and safety months activities as many as 41 people (93.2%) while health and safety signs, monitoring, and health and safety communication majority of respondents expressed either by the percentage of each, health and safety month activities as many as 43 people (97.7%), supervision of as many as 43 people (97.7%), health and safety communication as many as 40 people (90.9%). The results of the chi square test showed there is significant relationship between of health and safety promotion (training and health and safety month activities) with safe behavior with each of p value of 0.007 and 0.034. Suggestions for companies to increase Health and Safety Promotion particularly thorough training specifically to the processing of production employees and involve them in every health and safety months activities to create safe behavior at work. Abstract

ABSTRACT The high rate of crime causes demand for security services increased especially at public places, such as shopping centers. Demand for 24-hour safety requires the security workers have to make a work shift that can cause them feel exhausted. Therefore, the study was done, about “The correlation of Work Shift to fatigue occurrence of SUN Plaza Medan Security Workers in 2015”. The study method is analytical survey with cross sectional design. The sample which is taken are 56 of 113 populations with purposive sampling, types of shift are 2 days for the morning shift, 2 days for the night shift, and 2 days off. The fatigue is measured in every shift by using fatigue questionnaire subjectively with the scale of Industrial Fatigue Research Committee (IFRC) and categorized into low, medium, high and very high level. The study result which is found is the fatigue level for the morning shift, the most is at medium level which is 36 people (64.5%), low level which are 19 people (33.9%) and the high level is only 1 person (1.8%). On the night shift, the most is at medium leve which are 45 people (80.4%) while the rest is at a higher level which are 11 people (19.6%). In chi square test results got that there is a correlation between the work shift and the fatigue occurence cause (p=0.002). It is advisable to security workers who work for the night shift, in order to realize that the responsibility which is given to them is not the workload of job but as an obligation which has to be done. In addition, utilize day time for sleeping and take a rest well. The company also suggested conduct socialization about the workload especially psychological burden and the way to overcome it as well as arranging the time of working and resting to security workers in order not to cause the fatigue on night shift.
