Abstract

Termites are pests that can cause the damage to buildings and can make a big economic losses.The Junior High school building is one of the object that target by termites which haven’t been studied and investigated. This study intend to get the value of economic losses caused by termites attack toward the Junior High School buildings in Pekanbaru. The dis- tribution of termites mapped using Geographic Information System (GIS). The method used was direct observation, in- terviews using questionnaires and analyze the damage to buildings using a tally sheet. The result showed that 75% of The Junior High School building were attacked by the termites and 25% of The Junior High School building weren’t at- tacked by the termites.48% of the The Junior High School building have medium damage and 27 % have small dam- age.Termite species found are Cryptotermes cynocephalus Light for dry wood termites and Microtermes inspiratus Kemmer for subterranean termites  Keywords: Termites, The Junior High School buildings, Economic losses, Geographic information system (GIS)

Abstract

Japan and Indonesia has own criteria in determinating the applicable standards for fiberboard in accordance with the development of industry in each country. JIS and SNI have differences and similarities that are only applicable in their respective countries so that the necessary information to evaluate these standards in order to be valid not only in each country. The purpose of this research is to compare SNI 01-4449-2006 with JIS A 5905-2003. Data analysis was done  by using descriptive comparative technic that is compare standards specified in SNI 01-4449-2006 with JIS A 5905-2003 so that known differences and similarities of each standard. Result of the comparition between the parameter of JIS A 5905-2003 and SNI 01-4449-2006 show that the overall standard is different. The difference between these two standardsis available on the parameters of normative parameters of mold thickness, length and width, provided that te testing and measurement of test samples. JIS A 5905-2003has testing standards for fire resistance test and resistance for weather and  SNI 01-4449-2006 doesn’t have that testing standards. Based of the comparition of the parameters between JIS A 5905-2003 and SNI 01-4449-2006, it can be concluded that JIS A 5905-2003is more complete than SNI 01-4449-2006.Keywords: Indonesia National Standard, Japanese Industrial Standar, Compare.

Abstract

Lignin is a polymer which has heterogen and complex structure and composed of alcohol coniferil, alcohol sinaphil, and alcohol kumaril so that hard to change. This research aimed to get white rot fungi isolat at eucalyptus wood and measure the ability of Lignin Peroksidase Enzim (LiP) of white rot fungi from eucalyptus wood as degrading lignin. Sample was get from Kesatuan Pengelolaan Hutan Lindung Tobasa area, North Sumatera. Type of white rot fungi originated from Eucalyptus grandis was Phanerochaete sp.1, Phanerochaete sp.2, and Exidia sp. Based on mend of LiP activity result, Exidia sp was the most potential for biopulping because it has highest activity point about 0,037 (U/MI). Abstract

Termites were one of the most important wood destroying organisms because of the damage caused by it was the largest compared with other wood destroying organism. One of the targets of termites attacks that were rarely investigated were school buildings. The purpose of this research was to get the amount of damage and economic losses caused by termites attacks on public elementary school buildings in the Pekanbaru city. The mapping of the distribution of termite attack by using a Geographic Information System (GIS). The method used in this research is purposive sampling which means directly choose the samples that were going to be selected as the subject of the research. From the result of the research, it was found that 100% of public elementary school buildings sampled attacked by termites with the percentage of 43,33% suffered moderate damage and 56,67% suffered minor damage. Abstract

Lignin is a heterogeneous polymer and complex structure consisting of koniferil alcohol, sinaphil alcohol, and kumaril alcohol making it difficult to overhauled. The complex structure of lignin with high molecular weight and insoluble in water makes lignin difficult to degrade. The purpose of this research is to get white rot fungi in biopulping process by measuring the activity of Lignin Peroxidase Enzime (LiP) at white rot fungi which is obtained. The sample of rotten eucalyptus wood taken from Taman Hutan Raya (Tahura) Berastagi. Bavendamm test have found three genus of fungi which are Phanerochaete sp. 1, Phanerochaete sp. 2, Trametes sp. The highest activity of lignin peroxidase enzyme was produced by Phanerochaete sp. 2. Key words: Eucalyptus wood, White rot fungi, Bavendamm test, lignin peroxidase enzyme
