Abstract

This study aimed to get the genetic diversity some varieties of black soybeans due to the influence of gamma rays. Research was conducted at Balai Benih Induk Tanaman Palawija, Deli Serdang (+ 25 m above sea level)  from April - August 2012 used randomized block design. The first factor is the radiation doses with 4 level are 0, 10, 15, and 20 krad  and the second factor is three varieties are Detam-1, Detam-2, and Cikuray. The treatment was repeated three times. The results showed that radiation significant of percentage of germination,  plant height at 4-5 week after plant and harvest time. Varieties significant of plant height at 2-5 week after plant, flowering time, harvest time, number of empty pods, seed weight per sample, weight of 100 seeds, but not significant of the number of productive branch and number of pod contain. Whereas, interaction between radiation and varieties only significant of plant height at 4 week after plant. Coefficient variability genotipe values ranged between 0,39 – 17,85 and coefficient variability fenotipe values ranged between 1,21 – 18,76. Heritability values ranged between 0,10 - 0,96. Research should be continued so know production of varieties which are higher.   Keyword: black soybeans, radiation, varieties

Abstract

Paclobutrazol Application Study on Balance the Growth of Three Varieties of Peanuts(Arachis hypogaea L.). This study aimed to learn effect of paclobutrazol application ongrowth of three varieties of peanuts. The research was conducted at Tanjung Sari, Medan (±25 m above sea level) from June – October 2012 used randomized block design. The firstfactor was the paclobutrazol concentration with 4 level were 0, 100, 200 and 300 ppm and thesecond factor was three varieties were Gajah, Bima and Domba with 3 replication. Parameterwere plant length, number of productive branch, flowering time, harvest time, ginofornumber formed per sample, number of pod contains, seed weight per sample and weight of100 seeds. The results showed that paclobutrazol significant of plant length 7-9 week afterplant. Variety significant of plant length 2-9 weeks after plant, number of productive branchat 5-9 weeks after plant, flowering time, harvest time, ginofor number formed per sample, weight of 100 seeds, but not significant to number of pod contain and seed weight persample. Whereas, interaction between paclobutrazol and varieties only significant to reducenumber of empty pods. Keywords: peanuts, paclobutrazol, varieties

Abstract

Using of Central Composite Rotatable Design (CCRD) to determine the surface response producewas not researched yet, so the research have been conducted in UPT BBI Tanjung Selamat, Regencyof Deli Serdang, Province of North Sumatra with the land height ± 25 m above sea level, at May2012 - August 2012 using randomized block design with two factors : two varieties (Bisma and SHS-4) and Fertilizer (P and K with the dose determined from CCRD). Parameters measured were plantheight, number of leaf, time of flower initiation, harvesting age, cob length, number of leaf abovecob, cob diameter, weight of 100 seeds, seed filling rate and dry seeds production. The resultsshowed that the varieties were significantly diffrent to plant height, number of leafs, harvesting age,cob diameter, weight of 100 seeds, the seed filling rate, and dry seeds production. Fertilizer weresigificantly effects to plant height, number of leafs, and dry seeds production. Interaction betweenvarieties and fertilizer were significantly effects to plant height, cob diameter, and dry seedsproduction. Keywords : maize, P fertilizer, K fertilizer, varieties, CCRD

Abstract

Strain Selection of Soybean (Glycine max (L)Merril) of F4 Generation on Saline Soil. This researchaims to select the soybeans that can grow well and good production on saline soil of F4 generation. This research was conducted at Tanjung Rejo village, subdistrict of Percut Sei Tuan, Regenecy ofDeli Serdang, the elevation is 1.5m on above sea level, since November 2012 up to January 2013.The analysis used in this research is fingerprint analysis of cross that consist of 1 variety, themethod applied is a F4 generation pedigree selection, the population is sample, number of live plantis 43 of 690. The selected plant is based on the grain production per plant for 30 plants.Based on theresults of research that based on the highest weight of seed per plant is 1.4g on the plant number514.1.8.6 and the lowest production is 0.1g on the plant number 88.5.10.2, 1298.5.3.1, 1298.5.3.30,1298.5.3.40, 1298.5.7.16 and 1298.5.7.25. The components of production that has a direct influenceto the grain production per plant are the number of branch, age of flowering, number of pod andnumber of pods contain. Component of production that giving the highest direct influence is thenumber of pod contain for 8.809.Keyword : Species, Soybean, Selection, Salinity.

Abstract

Pak choi (Brassica rapa L. ssp. chinensis (L.)) is a leaf vegetable which has a high commercialvalue. Pak choi generally grown in highlands with low temperatures. Lately, many farmers inlowland who interestedcultivate pak choi.Lowlands generally a densely populated area. Hydroponicis an appropriate technology that can be used in a confined area. This research aimed to look at somevarieties of pak choi performance in two kinds of nutrient solution with floating hydroponictechnology. The levels of varieties wereWhite Tropical, Green, and Green Tropica Corina andnutrient solutionswere Peckenpaugh and Resh. The treatments were arranged in split plotdesign(SPD) and each treatment was made in four repetition. The results showed that Peckenpaughnutrient gives better effect on number of leaves at 3 (6,40 strands)and 5 (6,83 strands) weeks afterplanted, and on fresh weight per sample (11,97 g). White Tropical variety gives better effect onfresh weight per sample (13,12 g)and chlorophyll content (19,88 unit/3.8-1”).Keyword: Pak choi, Varieties, Nutrients, Hydroponic
