Abstract

Background: Surgery will cause anxiety. One way to reduce anxiety in preoperative patients is through health education using leaflet media. Leaflets are pieces of paper that contain writing and images to convey a message and are easy to carry.Purpose: This study was to analyze the effect of health education using leaflet media on anxiety levels in preoperative patients at Ungaran Hospital. Methods: This study used Quasi-Experiment with the design of two group pre-post. Bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test. The sample amounted to 30 respondents consisting of 15 respondents in the intervention group and 15 respondents in the control group using the Consecutive Sampling approach that met the inclusion criteria. Anxiety level assessment was given twice before and after treatment and anxiety levels were measured using the HARS (Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale) questionnaire. Results: The results showed that there was an effect of health education using leaflet media on anxiety levels (p=0,001) and there was an effect of health education without leaflets on anxiety levels (p=0,001). The post-test scores of the intervention group 9,13 and the control group 15,27.Conclusion: Health education using leaflet media can be applied as an alternative to delivering information before surgery to reduce anxiety.

Abstract

Background: The blood glucose levels in patients Type II diabetes mellitus If are not controlled it will worse condition. One attempt to reduce blood glucose levels is by walking exercise and hydrotherapy.Purpose: To understand the influence of a combination of walking exercise and hydrotherapy to decrease blood glucose levels in patients with type II diabetes mellitus. Methods: This research method is Quasy Experiment with the pre and post test with control group design. The number of samples are 48 people were divided into 2 groups that is intervention combination of walking exercise and hydrotherapy and control groups. The sampling technique was simple random sampling. The data analysis uses Dependent t-test and Independent t-test.Results: The results dependent t-test showed that there were a significant difference in the pre and post of blood sugar levels of the intervention group with p value 0,000 ( 0,05) and the control group with p value 0,008 ( 0,05). Independent t-test obtained results p value 0.000 (≤ 0.05) showed that there is the influence of a combination of walking exercise and hydrotherapy to blood glucose levels. Conclusion: In this study showed that there is the influence of a combination of walking exercise and hydrotherapy to blood glucose levels in patients type II diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

The adolescent is at risk of having unhealthy behaviors such as premarital sex, which will result in the occurrence of pregnancies, abortions, and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). One of these technological advances is information technology (IT) which has applied in various aspects of human life. Technology information is important for the millennial generation, one of which is inseparable from the use of smartphones.  The objectives of this review are identifying and develop an android-based educational application so that teenagers can use the technologies to knowledge especially about the reproductive health of girls in an attractive manner with existing features. The literature review refers to 5 articles obtained from e Pubmed, Undip E-journal, and Google Scholar databases over the past 5 years. Keywords in article search are mobile application, education, reproductive health, adolescent knowledge, health, and smartphone applications. Data analysis techniques that have been done are compare, contrast, criticize, syntesize and summarize. Inclusion criteria for articles are scientific articles with the last 5 years publication period, reliable and accredited articles, types of original research articles, and case studies. The exclusion criteria are undergraduate student research articles. From the literature study shows that those applications are much helpful in reducing problems that often occur in adolescents, for example: The Girl Talk application significantly increases the knowledge of adolescent girls (35.3% vs. 94.1%; p <0.001) respectively. Each application has a positive impact on improving adolescent health.

Abstract

Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer experienced by women. In Indonesia, there are 68,858 cases of breast cancer with 30.9% of them in Central Java. The impact on the bio-psychosocio-spiritual aspects of breast cancer patients is anxiety. One effort to reduce anxiety levels in patients is to provide social support. Objective: To determine the relationship between social support and the anxiety level of breast cancer patients. Methods: The research design used is descriptive quantitative with correlational methods and cross-sectional approaches. A total of 60 respondents were selected using the consecutive sampling technique. The Medical Outcomes Study Questionnaire: Social Support Survey (MOS: SSS) was used to measure social support and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) to measure anxiety levels. Data analysis used Spearman's rank test. Results: There are 54 respondents of 60 respondents who have received social support in the high category, while the level of anxiety they experience tends to be in the low category (65.3%). The results of Spearman's Rank analysis showed a social relationship with anxiety (p-value = 0.021, rcount = 0.298) which means that the higher social support received, the lower the level of anxiety experienced by breast cancer patients. Conclusion: There is a negative correlation between social support and anxiety levels in breast cancer patients. The higher the social support the patient gets, the lower the level of anxiety in breast cancer patients.

Abstract

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a condition in which the prostate gland is enlarged. The disease is only experienced by men and leads to inadequate flow of urine even those who have difficulty urinating and feel not full. Surgery or prostate surgery is a measure that can deal with BPH. However, it is not uncommon for patients to experience post-operative urinary incontinence due to the instability of the bladder muscles due to chronic BPH suffering. The sufferers need to be trained to restore the normal movement pattern through bladder training. The study aims to analyze the influence of early bladder training on the incidence of urinary incontinence in patients with post operation BPH. The method used in this study is quasi experiment post test only design with the control group. The total number of respondents 30 men post BPH surgery without complications was selected through purposive sampling and divided into two groups namely the treatment and control groups. The results of the study were analyzed using the non-parametric Mann Withney test p=0,001 (p<0,05) which means that there is a significant influence between implementation of bladder training on the incidence of urinary incontinence in patients after BPH surgery. Based on these results, bladder education is recommended to be applied early in the treatment of patients post BPH to reduce the incidence of urine inkontinence
