Abstract

Backgroud: Limitations in a radiographic projection of the Left lateral decubitus (LLD) ussually challanges most of the Radiografers who intent to apply the technique toward patients with acute abdoment clinical cases. Related problems that occasionally come up with the LLD projection are the fixed patient positioning and the waiting time it takes to keep patient in the same position. The poor quality of  the LLD radiograph and less imaged optimalisation of the free-air below the right diapragm lead to a dificult radiological interpretation. The study aims to design an aided patient fixation tool with its controlling timer used for the LLD projection; and to examine the the functional performance of the tool. Methods: the research is qualitative approached with an experimental study. Several steps following the reseach are creation of the master plan designs and selection of materials that  should be used to develop an appropriate aided patient fixation tool with controlling timer for LLD projection; evaluation of the 5 designed tool system components (seated patient, cassette holder, safety belt, electronic sensored movement, andthe timer); and qualitative testing of the tool function and veryfication. The 6 aspects of tool performances have been decided to be complianced indicators whereas 5 observers (expert Radiographers) blended in the evaluation of the aided tool, and the tool has firmed to meet its requirement if the total observer’s score is greater and equal to 2,00Results: In general, the resulted tool perfomance testing fulfilled the requirements of the tool functions as it used for some radiographic procedures of the acute abdoment-LLD projection. The tool performance scores of convenince and reliability equipment showed at 2,25 and 2,75 which meant that a general radiographic quality was looking good without any presense of the artifacts. Morover, the scores for timer and censored devices were 2,70 and 2,65 recpectively, by this clearly described  a proper function of timer control and indicator components. The total score for radiation safety evaluation contributed to the higest score amongst all aspects being assessed that was 2,80.Conclusion: The design of the aided patient fixation tool with controlling timer for LLD projection has not only met functional requirements but it has also proven to subtitute some limitations about maintaning good image quality when applied the LLD projection. Radiologic expertation on the LLD-radiograph of the acute abdoment obviously contributed to optimal clinical information

Abstract

Background: Brain Magnetic Resonance Venography (MRV) is a MRI examination of veins without contrast media. Phase Contrast (PC) MRV sequences uses phase shift protons that flow along the magnetic gradient into needed area (Field Of View).  PC MRV sequences use bipolar gradient to compensate the proton spin speed by adjusting the amplitude. The study aims to determine the Velocity encoding Value (VENC) to MRV image information on brain tumor patient and to determine the best image information through a technic to visualize the veins in brain tumor patient. Methods: This study was a quantitative study with quasi experimental approach. Data were collected in Radiology Department of Dr. Moewardi Surakarta Hospital on May to June 2016. Data was collected using questionnaire filled by three respondents. Data were analyzed statiscally using Friedman test and Wilcoxon test to determine the difference of value of Velocity Encoding (VENC) between 10 cm/sec, 15 cm/sec, 20 cm/sec, as well the mean rank test used to find out the best image information. Results: The statistical test showed that there were significant differences in image information of MRV, between VENC 10 cm/sec, 15 cm/sec and 20 cm/sec with p value was 0.032 (p˂0,05). The best result of MRV image information was when VENC value of 20 cm/sec used, indicated by the mean rank which was 2.83.Conclusion: There were significant differences of MRV image information between VENC 10 cm/sec, 15 cm/sec and 20 cm/sec. The best result of MRV image information was when VENC value of 20 cm/sec used, to visualize better anatomy of the veins, so that the presence of tumor thrombus in the veins can be ensured.

Abstract

Blood Transfusion Service Standards aim to ensure the safety high quality and sufficient blood services sufficient blood reserve. The standard for blood requirements for each country according to WHO is at least 2% of the total population. The population in Indonesia has increased every year so the need for blood is also increasing causing demands for causing the quality of blood services to be better. One of the demands for the quality of blood services by knowing is to know the quality control of the blood produced. One of the blood products produced is PRC. PRC Packed Red Cells quality control checks must be carried out to determine the quality of the PRCs produced.  This study aims to determine the overall quality control of PRC and the results of PRC quality control based on (volume, hemoglobin, hematocrit, hemolysis, and bacterial contamination) in the Blood Donation Unit of Banyumas Regency in 2020. This type of research is descriptive. Sampling technique with a sample quota as much as the total sample quality control packed red cell test obtained 1% of the total production of PRC components every month in the Blood Donation Unit of Banyumas. The QC research results were obtained from 430 PRC samples that met the passing standards: 426 samples (99%) volume, 426 samples (99%) hemoglobin, 380 samples (88%) hematocrit, 429 samples (99.7%) hemolysis, and 426 samples (99%) passed from bacterial contamination. The number of QCs who qualified was 373 samples (87%). These results indicate that the 2020 PRC QC obtained good and satisfying results.
