Abstract

Preharvest Technology of Information systems in Deli Serdang regency was done manually, resulting in ineffective and inefficient information storage and processing systems. More than that, the information seekers-and decision-makers also have difficult in obtaining the data they need. Therefore it is necessary for  futher develope the information system. Web-based information system is considered to be a solution in order to acces information faster, systematic cally and easy to use. For that a designed based on information system in the management of Preharvest Technology in Deli Serdang regency was developed. Preharvest Technology Information System was designed using PHP programming language, MySQL database and the system development Lifecycle (SDLC) method. Abstract

Changing the form of rice, white sticky rice and black sticky rice into flour is one way to increase the sale value or economic value of the material, in which rice flour, white sticky rice flour and black sticky rice flour are widely used as a raw material in the manufacture of foodstuffs. This study was a test of flat burr mill grinder on the commodity of rice, white sticky rice and black sticky rice. The study was conducted with literature study, experiment, observation and testing of equipment and experiment using a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD). Parameters measured were the effective capacity of the equipment, the percentage of lost material and moisture content. The results showed that the effective capacity on rice was 11.29 kg/hour, white sticky rice was 11.81 kg/hr and black sticky rice was 12.29 kg/hour. The percentage of material lost was 0.50% for rice, 0.72% for white sticky rice and 0.45% for black sticky rice. The water content of rice before milled was 14.4%, 14.4% white sticky rice and black sticky rice by 13.8%. The water content of rice after milling was 14.2%, 13.8% for white sticky rice, and black sticky rice was 13.3%. Keywords: flat burr mill, grinder, rice, white sticky rice, black sticky rice

Abstract

Drip irrigation is needed in the efficient use of water for the plant and also attention is needed for its performance. The study was aimed to determine the performance of drip irrigation on Latosol soil with and without Caisim plants (Brassica juncea L.). Parameters measured were soil physical properties, evapotranspiration, field capacity, emission uniformity, drip irrigation efficiency, and Caisim (Brassica juncea L.) dry weight.  The results showed that Latosol soil had clayey loam texture with a bulk density value of 1,05 g/cm3, particle density of 2,5 g/cm, porosity of 58,07% and a water content of 36,67% field capacity, evapotranspiration in the early phase was  1,11 mm/day, in the middle phase was 1,91 mm/day, and in the final phase was 1,18 mm/day, the average emission uniformity was 91,86%, the efficiency of use of irrigation in the final phase of plant growth was 100% on the ground with or without plants. Irrigation storage efficiency value at the end of the growth phase on soil with plants was 49,28% and was 15,42% on soil without plants, Caisim had an average dry weight of 1,65 grams and a water content of 87,66%. Abstract

Identification of passion fruit maturity is still done manually by the farmers . Fruit was seen visually and responded by the brain to differentiate maturity levels . In large amounts it would be difficult to maintain their performance. This study was a non-conventional method of measurement that used digital image processing to produce data that would be processed by  artificial neural network and then processed using computer software that could be used to determine passion fruit maturity level. Passion fruit was identified based on the histrogram input image color ( RGB ) that was obtained from the results of the capture program built using Visual Basic. Some sample of the passion fruit learning pattern data had different weight values as input to the neural network using backpropagation method to distinguish raw, ripe and half ripe fruits. This identification system was capable to identify the entire category of fruit which was 94,4 % correct identification. From the identification results that had been done, the identification of the three outputs were 100 % ripe, half ripe  83,3 % , and 100 % raw passion fruit . Results of the identifications were affected by the fruit  shooting process. Key words : Artificial Neural Network, Back Propagation, Identification, Image Processing, Passion Fruit

Abstract

The increase of production and quality of palm oil and palm kernel oil is strongly influenced by the production of fresh fruit bunches. Therefore, efforts are needed to increase the production of fresh fruit bunches. Pabatu estate is one of business unit of PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV that has head office in Medan, North Sumatera and engaged in the business of oil palm plantation and processing. The Study was aimed to analyze factors that influence the cost application in achieving production target, such as maintenance, premi harvest, security, and transportation. The factors were analized by Analythical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The results showed that maintenance cost was in first priority with the quality value of 0,4255. Security cost wast in the second priority with quality value of 0,2739. Harvest premi cost was in the third priority with quality value of 0,1613, and transportation cost was in the fourth priority with quality value of 0,1391, so that PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV Unit Pabatu should pay attention to maintenance cost in achieving production target Keywords: Analythical Hierarchy Process, Crude palm oil, Palm kernel oil, Fresh fruit bunch, Production system.

Abstract

In general, soybean epidermis peeler bring out soybean seeds along with the epidermis so it must be separated manually. Improvement is necessary to solve the problem. One of the alternatives is to modify the peeler by adding blower. With the addition of the blower, the soybean seeds and the epidermis brought out separately so that the peeler work capacity can be improved. Soybean epidermis peeler with blower was designed to peel the epidermis in the dry state. Blower in this peeler was centrifugal blower with 150 Watts of power, 3000 rpms of speed, and 2 inches diameter of the output hole. Effective capacity of the modified soybean epidermis peeler with blower in this study was divided into three different rate was blower with maximum rate was 54,64 kg/h; blower with medium rate was 43,48 kg/h; and blower with minimum rate was 52,63 kg/h. Keywords : blower, Soybean peeler, work capacity

Abstract

Briquette is one of the biomass fuel. Briquette is used as an alternative energy sources which is very simple and inexpensive. Biomass used in this research were rice husk and tea waste. The aim of this research was to find composition of  Bio-Carbon Briquette processing of rice husk and tea waste and to determine the best Bio one. Testing was conducted using a non-factorial completely randomized design with parameters of water content, density, firmness press, calorific value, and ash content. The results of this research showed that the composition of the briquette materials was unaffected the water content and had highly significant effect on density, firmness press, calorific value, and ash content. The best water content in this research was 5.80%, that met Japanese, America, England and Indonesia standards. The Density value was 0.75 g / cm3 which dit not met briquettes of Japanese, America, England and Indonesia standards. The best of fumness press in this research was 2.37kg/cm2did not met the standards of briquette of Japanese, America, England and Indonesia. The best of calofic value in this research was 5661.41 kal/gr that met the standards of briquette of Indonesia, but did not met standards of briquette of Japanese, England, and America. The best of ash content valuein the research was 5.876% that met the standards of briquette of Indonesia, Japanese, England and America. Keywords : briquette, biomass, rice husk and tea waste.
