Abstract

Research on red Pidada leaves (Sonneratia caseolaris L.) which is a mangrove plant with antioxidant potential has been carried out. This study aims to determine the simplicia characterization and activity of red Pidada leaf extracts and fractions as antioxidants. The results of the simplicia characterization were: water-soluble extract content of 11%, ethanol-soluble extract content of 16%, water content of 9%, ash content of 8.17%, and acid insoluble ash content of 0.48%. The antioxidant activity test was carried out using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method. The antioxidant activity was determined by the IC50 (Inhibition Concentration) value. The results showed that the ethanol extract had an IC50 value of 24.22 ppm (very strong), n-hexane fraction 88.18 ppm (strong), ethyl acetate fraction 15.39 ppm (very strong), and ethanol fraction 38.41 ppm (very strong) Keywords: Sonneratia caseolaris L., antioxidants, DPPH, IC50

Abstract

The wound healing process should be short so as not to interfere with productivity and reduce costs. SFFS (spray film forming system) is a combination of transdermal preparations in which a polymer solution is sprayed onto the skin and will form an almost transparent film by evaporation of the solvent. Film-forming solutions are particularly advantageous for transporting the active substance to the site of action by the shortest route in cases of dermal or lower tissue infections. Chloramphenicol is a lipophilic drug so it penetrates the skin well because the stratum corneum matrix is ​​also lipophilic. The purpose of this study was to make a formulation of a sprayed chloramphenicol film-forming solution in order to obtain the best formula and increase effectiveness. The research was carried out on an experimental basis and three formulas were prepared with different polymer concentrations. The results of the study obtained a film-forming spray for each formula with a film formed that was flexible and adhered well to the skin, with a pH of 6. The time needed to make the film layer in skin is 0.87-1.19 minutes with an average dose weight of spray is 61.33-85.33 mg.

Abstract

Self-medication is an approach widely used by the public to treat mild pain symptom by using over-the-counter medications without a prescription from physician. One of the medications that can be used for self-medication is Ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is a drug that can be used for self-medication; however, its use should be under the supervision and guidance of healthcare professionals. This study aims to determine the level of public knowledge regarding the self-medication use of ibuprofen in Marang Kayu District. This research uses a quantitative design with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 369 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The questionnaire included questions about knowledge aspects regarding ibuprofen and self-medication patterns. The study results showed that the level of public knowledge in Marang Kayu District about Ibuprofen for self-medication was 14.5% (49 respondents) with a high level of knowledge, 31.3% (106 respondents) with a moderate level of knowledge, and the majority, 54.3% (184 respondents), with a low level of knowledge. The results underscore the urgent need for targeted health education programs to improve public awareness and promote safe self-medication practices. Enhancing community knowledge is essential to minimize the risks associated with improper ibuprofen use and to encourage responsible drug consumption
