Abstract

This study aims to determaine the profile of the representation ability of juniorhigh school students in terms of learning styles. This type of research wasdescriptive qualitative research. The subjects taken were three junior highschool students of eight grade, each of whom had a visual learning style, andauditory learning style, and kinesthetic learning style. The data was collectedusing a learning style scale, written tests, interviews and documentation. Thedata analysis technique was carried out in 3 stages, reduction, datapresentation, and drawing conclucions or verification. The validity of the dataused time triangulation, comparaing the results of the representation abilitytest with the results of interviews in the first and second stages. The analysiswas developed based on indicators of representational ability by taking inroaccount student learning styles. Based on the results of the analysis, it isknown that subjects with visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles havelow verbal representation abilities.

Abstract

Students' problems in understanding mathematical concepts to solve word problems of the hots type became the background of this study. The purpose of this research is to determine the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students with a cognitive style in solving hot type word problems. The population used in this study were students of SMP Negeri 2 Karangawen. While for the withdrawal of samples using purposive sampling technique the sample was taken from 26 student namely 2. This study used qualitative research methods which in its implementation used observation, tests, and interviews. Data analysis is carried out interactively and takes place continuously and through 3 stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results revealed that subjects who have a reflective cognitive style have a better concept understanding ability in problem solving HOTS model questions, compared to students with impulsive cognitive style. Therefore, it is important for students to practice HOTS model problems in order to improve good concept understanding.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate and analyze the creative thinking abilities of Generation Alpha junior high school students in solving systems of linear equations in two variables (SPLDV) word problems, viewed from their learning styles. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach supported by NVivo software for automatic coding (autocode) and thematic visualization. The subjects consisted of 24 eighth-grade students from a school in Tegal regency, with results showing that 45.8% were visual learners, 29.1% auditory learners, and 25% kinesthetic learners. Furthermore, three students were purposively selected since it adequately represents the variety within the category to represent each learning style category for in-depth analysis. The instruments used included a learning style questionnaire, SPLDV word problem tests, and interview guidelines. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, while validity was ensured through methodological triangulation. The findings reveal that: (1) visual learners demonstrated all four indicators of creative thinking, with a notable strength in flexibility; (2) auditory learners achieved three indicators, particularly excelling in fluency; and (3) kinesthetic learners fulfilled four indicators, with a strong emphasis on elaboration. The prevalence of short-form visual content on social media influences Generation Alpha’s learning preferences, which are faster-paced and more visually oriented.

Abstract

Permasalahan utama Dalam penelitian ini adalah beberapa siswa menganggap Matematika adalah pelajaran yang sulit untuk dipelajari dan dipahami sehingga berdampak pada kurangnya minat siswa belajar matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelesaikan masalah yang timbul dalam pembelajaran matematika melalui metode desain thinking menurut David Kalley yang terdiri dari 5 tahapan yaitu empathize, define, ideate, prototype dan test. Dalam analisis masalah ini menggunakan tiga tahap yaitu empathize, define, ideate untuk menciptakan ide-ide solusi dari beberapa ide-ide solusi yang mungkin. Populasi penelitian yaitu siswa dan guru matematika di MA Darussalam Subah, MA NU Banyuputih dan MA NU Limpung, dengan sampel penelitian terdiri dari responden siswa sebanyak 50 siswa dan guru sebanyak 3 guru. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner berupa Google form dan wawancara. Kemudian hasil data yang sudah didapatkan selanjutnya dianalisis dari tahap impetes sampai Devine. Hasil dari pengertian ini ditemukan bahwa kebutuhan siswa dan guru dalam pembelajaran matematika yaitu perlu adanya pembelajaran yang asyik dan menyenangkan dengan menggunakan Video pembelajaran berbasis media AI dengan pendekatan STEAM untuk meningkatkan pemecahan masalah siswa MA sehingga peneliti berharap siswa dapat percaya diri serta membantu minat siswa untuk menyelesaikan pemecahan masalah matematika
