Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is one of the common symptoms experienced by some of the world community. Acupuncture as a method of healing a disease offers a solution for LBP symptom. This study aimed to determine the effect of acupuncture with local and Yamamoto New Scalp Acupuncture (YNSA) points with biochemical analysis related to total protein, albumin, and globulin, and analysis of blood serum protein profiles using the SDS-PAGE method. This research was conducted using sterile acupuncture needles that inserted in patients with several local points, namely BL22 (Sanjiaoshu), BL23 (Shenshu), BL24 (Qihaishu), BL25C (Dachangshu), and BL26C (Guanyuanshu) and combined with the YNSA points through somatotope D points and extra lumbar points H and I. Blood serum was collected for total protein, albumin, and globulin analysis. That blood serum was also used for protein profile analysis using Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) method. The results showed that six times of acupuncture treatments gave positive correlation in total protein, albumin, and globulin. Analysis of blood serum protein profiles using SDS-PAGE showed a protein band of about 12 KDa and it might be a interleukin-13 protein. The results were expected can be useful as scientific information especially related to acupuncture for LBP treatment and this of about 12 KDa protein band can be used as biomarker candidates for the symptoms.

Abstract

Drought, acidity, and P deficiency are problem in rice production in Ultisol soil in Indonesia. Pup1 locus in rice plant, besides has a role in uptaking P nutrient, was suspected to improve resistant to biotic and abiotic stresses, including drought. BC2F6 lines derived from Situ Bagendit cross containing Pup1 locus had been developed through Marker-assisted Backcrossing method, and had been tested for P fertilizers and resistance to blast. This research was aimed to evaluate the effect of Pup1 locus to drought stress condition. The study was divided into two experiments, namely test of polyethylene glycol (PEG) 8000 and test of root penetration ability test (DTA). The experiment was conducted at the Greenhouse of Indonesian Center for Agricultural Biotechnology and Genetic Resources Research and Development, from November 2012 until May 2013. The number of lines used in this study was 52 lines, consisted of 24 lines of BC2F6 Situ Bagendit × Kasalath (= SK), 22 lines of Situ Bagendit × NIL-C433 (= SN), three parents namely Situ Bagendit (recurrent parent), Kasalath, and NIL-C433, two tolerant controls for drought namely Cabacu and Gajah Mungkur, and one sensitive control for drought IR20. The research used a completely randomized design for test PEG 8000 and a split-split plot design for test of root penetration ability.  Results showed that maximum PEG 800 concentrations for drought stress study on rice was 20%. Pup1 locus was more tolerant to drought stress in PEG 8000 experiment through its longer roots and plumules. Pup1 locus gave a positive effect on root penetration ability, with longer roots and more penetrating wax layer. Pup1 locus also showed tolerant to drought on Ultisols soil, as indicated by an increasing dry weight of root and shoot than those of parent without Pup1 locus.

Abstract

Background: Low Back Pain is a common disorder involving the muscles, nerves and spine. The use of combination acupuncture, namely the local point and Yamamoto News Scalp Acupuncture (YNSA) is expected to accelerate the decrease in pain in patients with Low Back Pain. Methods: This study is used 45 respondents divided into 3 treatment groups, namely 1) Local point acupuncture therapy group, 2) Yamamoto News Scalp Acupuncture acupuncture therapy group, and 3) Local point combination with Yamamoto News Scalp Acupuncture therapy group. This research was conducted in the working area of the Ngemplak Community Health Center, Boyolali from January 2017 to September 2017. Measurement of pain using Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Results: The evaluation results showed that the respondent's data is normally distributed and homogeneous. ANOVA test showed there was a significant relationship between the local point acupuncture therapy group, Yamamoto News Scalp Acupuncture (YNSA) and Combination. The F value in this study is smaller than α (0.05). The T test showed that local acupuncture therapy is more effective than Yamamoto acupuncture therapy. News Scalp Acupuncture, and point combination acupuncture therapy are more effective than local points. Conclusion: Therfore it is the first report that proved the better method of combination (Local Point and YNSA) for reducing LBP quickly.

Abstract

Acidity, phosphorus deficiency, and droughtstress are major problems in Indonesia’s Ultisol rice farming.Development of rice lines tolerant to those stresses isexpected to be able to reduce the consumption of Pfertilizer. The objectives of the research were to evaluategenetic constitutive of rice lines (BC2F6 population) derivedfrom Situ Bagendit x Kasalath and Situ Bagendit x NIL-C433crossings, and to evaluate responses of those lines toYoshida nutrient solution under P deficiency and Al stresscondition. The research was conducted at Molecular BiologyLaboratory and Greenhouse of ICABIOGRAD, fromNovember 2011 to May 2013. The result of foregroundanalysis showed that Pup1 locus has been integrated intothe genome of BC2F6 rice lines, eventhough some lines (SK5,SK6, SK7, SK8, SK9, SK10, SK19, and SK20) showedincomplete integration. Background analysis indicated thatmajority (95.7%) of the Situ Bagendit background has beenrecovered in BC2F6 rice lines. Al stress evaluation showed SNlines were more tolerant to P deficiency and Al stress thanthat of SK lines. Pup1 locus showed good expression underlow P and no Al stress. Based on genome proportion andYoshida nutrient solution experiments, a total of three lines,namely SK13, SN2, and SN9, have potential goodcharacteristics. Molecular analysis within a marker-assistedbackcrossing (MAB) experiment should be carried out ateach generation of lines for gaining fully gene segment inadvanced generations.

Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is one of the diseases suffered by people over the world due to musculoskeletal disorders. Blood serum was analyzed for total cholesterol, LDL-C, HDL-C, and triglyceride levels. Cholesterol surface ultrastructure analysis was performed using a SEM microscope. The results showed that total cholesterol and LDL-C levels decreased in the blood serum of LBP patients who had undergone acupuncture therapy by 10 times. Morphology of the surface ultrastructure of cholesterol in the blood serum of LBP patients also showed a reduction in the amount of cholesterol after acupuncture therapy by 10 times. These two results might be useful to improve scientific information for reducing LBP pain, especially through acupuncture therapy.

Abstract

Penyakit merupakan salah satu sinyal bagi tubuh dalam keadaan tidak normal. Salah satu penyakit yang banyak dialami oleh orang lanjut usia adalah nyeri, khususnyanya muskoloskeletal. Nyeri jenis ini banyak menyerang orang lanjut usia (lansia) dan salah satu akternatif pengobatannya adalah melalui akupunktur. Tim Abdimas dari jurusan Akupunktur Poltekkes Kemenkes Surakarta menemukan masalah pada lansia di Tegal Mulyo RT 3 RW4 Kelurahan Mojosongo Kecamatan Jebres Kota Surakarta yaitu banyaknya lansia yang mengalami gangguan muskuloskeletal dan berencana membantu dalam pengurangan tingkat kesakitan yang dialami masyarakat mitra tersebut. Titik akupunktur yang digunakan pada terapi di kegiatan Abdimas ini di antaranya Zusanli (ST.36), Hegu (LI 4), Neiguan (PC 6), dan Sanyinjiao (SP 6). Hasil Abdimas dapat dikatakan berhasil karena masyarakat mitra merasakan penurunan tingkat kesakitan muskuloskeletal setelah program Abdimas selesai.

Abstract

Permasalahan kesehatan pada kelompok lansia yang sering terjadi diantaranya penyakit hipertensi. Prevalensi penyakit ini dari tahun ke tahun sering mengalami peningkatan. Salah satu cara untuk menangani penyakit ini dengan terapi akupunktur. Tim Pengabdian Masyarakat (Abdimas) Jurusan Akupunktur Poltekkes Kemenkes Surakarta menemukan masalah kesehatan pada kelompok lansia di Posyandi Lansia Yasadharma Lansia RW 18 Perumnas Rinjani Kelurahan Mojosongo Kecamatan Kota Surakarta berupa banyaknya keluhan yang mengarah ke kasus hipertensi. Kegiatan Abdimas ke mitra tersebut adalah pemberian modul hipertensi dan penyuluhan kesehatan tentang hipertensi serta pemberian terapi akupunktur. Terapi akupunktur diberikan sebanyak tiga kali kegiatan (kunjungan). Pemilihan titik akupunktur, yaitu GB20 Fengchi, DU20 Baihui, LR3 Taichong, EX-HN3 Taiyang, dan LI4 Hequ. Penyuluhan kesehatan dan pemberian modul hipertensi dilakukan sekali kegiatan. Hasil Abdimas ini dikatakan berhasil karena masyarakat mitra merasakan adanya penurunan keluhan penyakit hipertensi yang berkurang sekali, dan merasa puas dengan penyuluhan kesehatan tentang hipertensi dan modul hipertensi.Katakunci: Akupunktur, hipertensi. penyuluhan kesehatan

Abstract

Balsam plant is widely known as plants with a myriad of benefits. This plant includes plants that are easily propagated and cared for. However, plant maintenance will be important to ensure the continued growth and development of these plants. One of the environmentally friendly liquid organic fertilizers is ecoenzyme. Ecoenzyme is widely recognized as a multipurpose solution made from fermented sugar with vegetable and or fruit residue. This study aims to determine the effect of ecoenzyme solutions on the growth of Impatiens balsamina L. plants. This study followed a completely randomized design (CRD) with one factor. The data obtained were then analyzed by means of analysis of variance (ANOVA) in a one-factor completely randomized design and followed by the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) with a 95% confidence level. The results showed that on the parameters of leaf and stem length, watering with the addition of ecoenzyme had a significant effect on the growth of balsam plants starting at 30-day after culturing (DAC) and 51-DAC. Anatomical analysis of the root, stem and leaf of balsam plant treated with watering using the addition of ecoenzyme solution showed that there were significant differences with the control. The results of this study are expected to increase knowledge related to the propagation of balsam plants and the use of ecoenzyme as liquid organic fertilizer.

Abstract

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is one of the neurodevelopmental disorder. ADHD characterized by signs and symptoms such as inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsive. The purpose of this research was to determine the effectiveness of ear acupuncture therapy and behavioral therapy in children with ADHD. This research used Quasy Experimental Design with pretest and posttest design. This research was conducted in February-April 2023 at SLB Autis Alamanda and SLB Harmony Surakarta. The sample is children with ADHD who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sample was divided into two groups, 15 children each group. Ear acupuncture therapy using earseeds at point zero, shenmen point, and liver point. Behavioral therapy using ABA method (Applied Behavioral Analysis). Data were analyzed using Independent Sample T-test. The result of this test showed that significance value is 0.849 (p > 0.05). The conclusion of this research is ear acupuncture therapy and behavioral therapy were not effective to decrease ADHD behavior in children at SLB Autis Alamanda and SLB Harmony Surakarta.
