Abstract

This article is a summary of the important points in the subject of philosophy of science, especially, Metaphysics idea or in Islamic sense. It calls as “Tasawwuf” (Islamic metaphysics). From several works, for instance, Immanuel Kant’s Prolegomena to Any Future Metaphysics, S.M.N al-Attas’s Islam and the Philosophy of Science, and Nūr al-Dīn al-Rānirī’s Latā’if al-Asrār li Ahli Allah al-Aṭyār. From these three books, here is the highlight in order to understand their views on Metaphysics and Tasawwuf. The survey aims to analyze and compare their views, particularly on pertaining on Metaphysics. The study was found that Metaphysics, deals in general with questions about the nature of reality. The Sufis took the same position as the philosophers and the theologians in affirming the reality of thing that constitute the world, and hence also the reality of the world, as established, in contradiction to the Sophists. But the Sufis attested further, in significant contrast to the philosophers and the theologians, that in addition to existence in the above sense, that is, as a pure concept, and based upon clear mystical revelation and true intuition founded upon the authority of the Holy Qur’an and the tradition as well as upon reason and experience.  Keywords: Epistemology, Metaphysics, Philosophy of Science, Reality, Sufism (Tasawwuf), Truth.

Abstract

Makalah ini ditulis dengan maksud untuk memberikan sumbangan pemikiran dan pendapat kepada fihak – fihak yang mempunyai ketertarikan dengan manuskrip atau sedang mengkaji dan meneliti karya – karya ulama yang berwibawa dalam kajian ilmu - ilmu dan budaya Islam. Warisan keilmuan Islam (Turáth Islam) yang begitu banyak menuntut seseorang peneliti dan pakar khusus untuk memahami kunci – kunci pembuka yang dapat mengantarkannya kepada informasi yang dibutuhkan secara cekap, baik dari segi masa yang tersedia, fikiran yang tajam dalam beranalisis maupun tenaga kuat. Bagi pemula, tulisan ini diharapkan dapat memberi jawaban “dari mana harus memulai?”serta manfaat dan bermakna bagi masyarakat secara umum, ketika ingin merujuk kepada Turáth Islam.

Abstract

Abstract: Minangkabau culture is one of Indonesia’s proud cultures. One of the Minangkabau cultures, namely “sumbang duo baleh” can provide lessons about the mistakes that must be avoided so that students’ behavior is in accordance with the values and norms of the Minangkabau community. The objectives of this study were to determine the values and methods, as well as obstacles and support in the implementation of sumbang duo baleh in local Minangkabau content activities at Public Junior High School 3 Padang. This study was a qualitative approach by a case study design, the researcher was as key instrument. The method of collecting data was by interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results of the present study that the values of the Minangkabau tradition of sumbang duo baleh related to ethics and behavior are still relevant and need to be taught to students, the method of implementing sumbang duo baleh at Public Junior High School 3 Padang uses an integrative approach, cultural values are included in various subjects and extracurricular activities, and support from the school and community is very important to the success of the implementation of sumbang duo baleh. Keywords: ethics, minangkabau, local content, norms, sumbang duo baleh Abstrak: Kebudayaan Minangkabau merupakan salah satu budaya Indonesia yang membanggakan. Salah satu budaya Minangkabau yakni “sumbang duo baleh” dapat memberikan pelajaran tentang bentuk-bentuk kesalahan yang harus dihindari sehingga perilaku peserta didik sesuai dengan nilai dan norma masyarakat Minangkabau. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui nilai-nilai dan metode, serta kendala maupun dukungan dalam implementasi sumbang duo baleh pada kegiatan muatan lokal keminangkabauan di SMPN 3 Padang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus, peneliti menjadi instrumen kunci. Metode mengumpulkan data adalah berupa wawancara, observasi partisipatif, dan analisis dokumen. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa nilai-nilai tradisi Minangkabau sumbang duo baleh yang berkaitan dengan etika dan perilaku masih relevan dan perlu diajarkan kepada siswa, metode implementasi sumbang duo baleh di SMPN 3 Padang menggunakan pendekatan integratif, dimana nilai-nilai budaya dimasukkan dalam berbagai mata pelajaran dan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler, serta dukungan dari pihak sekolah dan masyarakat sangat penting dalam keberhasilan implementasi sumbang duo baleh. Abstract

It is important to note that the modern Qur’an studies has been under the influence of western thoughts. There have been a number of approaches to the Qur’an which treated the Islamic traditions unfair and to some extent skeptically. This paper, tries to analyze Abu Zayd’s thought on interpreting the al-Qur’an that was solely to apply a methodology of literary criticism and attempts to refute his thought in the light of hermeneutics and modern approaches to the Qur’an. A Qur’an texts accordingly were regarded as the cultural product so that in his view the Qur’an like other literary texts which are undergoing socio-politico-historical courses; it is inclusive to literary criticism. He was believing in the validity of Wilhem Dilthey’s methodology on textual analysis, his discourse on Qur’an studies was the product of Western hermeneutics that is certainly irrelevant when it comes to be applied to analyze the Qur’an since it does not undergo any distortion all the time. Therefore, the conclusion of this paper was Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd’s hermeneutics approach was appropriate for the Bible instead of the Qur’an.

Abstract

Artikel ini merupakan pembahasan tentang gagasan Waḥdat al-Wujūd dari Sunan Bonang, yang merupakan salah satu ulama terkemuka yang dikenal sebagai Wali Songo. Terdapat perbedaan kesimpulan dalam kajian sarjana Orientalis dan sarjana Indonesia terdahulu tentang sejarah Sunan Bonang dan ajarannya, dikarenakan sumber rujukan disisipi mitos, legenda, yang kebenaran ceritanya senantiasa samar. Pemikiran dan ajarannya tentang tasawuf disajikan melalui simbol-simbol budaya, seperti karakter, sangkar, burung, topeng, wayang, cermin, dan bayangan yang dapat menimbulkan berbagai penafsiran yang rancu. Oleh karena itu, gagasan Sunan Bonang dan Wali Songo masih disalahpahami oleh kebanyakan para sarjana sebagai “Manunggaling Kawula Gusti”, sebuah konsep yang erat kaitannya dengan gagasan pantheisme dan monisme. Dalam kajian ini jelas, bahwa pemikiran tasawuf Sunan Bonang adalah yang paling otoritatif dari Sunan Bonang tentang Wahdat al-Wujud benar-benar mencerminkan ajaran tasawuf Wali Songo di Jawa. Wahdat al-Wujud yang dipahami dan diajarkan oleh Sunan Bonang adalah berbeda dengan ajaran Manunggaling Kawula Gusti, yakni bersatunya hamba dengan Tuhan (al-Ittihad wa al-Hulul) yang menjadi pemahaman ajaran tasawuf yang keliru. Kajian ini menggunakan metode kajian kepustakaan yang merangkumi metode pengumpulan data dan analisa semantik (Semantic content Analysis). Diharapkan kajian ini dapat menggambarkan ajaran yang benar dari Sunan Bonang pada khususnya dan Wali Songo pada umumnya, dengan maksud untuk melindunginya dari miskonsepsi para esoteris (ahli Kebatinan).

Abstract

Some aspects of humanities and modern science that oppose to religion are deeply rooted in a particular metaphysical worldview. The problem is not just in the outcomes produced by modern science, but in the underlying metaphysical assumptions that form the basis of modern science. The objective of this study was to determine that metaphysical foundations could support science and technology, offering insights into how religion and technology interact. The present research employed a qualitative strategy, relying on a literature review and the analysis was by semantic content analysis. The findings reveal that each civilization develops its own metaphysical system, which in turn shapes its unique worldview. These differences came from how each culture perceives reality and assigns value to it. In conclusion, the paper emphasizes to restore a comprehensive metaphysical system that could clarify various levels of reality and presenting the anatomy of being, in its multiple grades and sÉtates
