ABSTRACT Children under five years old are vulnerable to health problems, such as diarrhea. The problem of diarrhea is about dehydration; therefore, one of the ways how to handle it is by an early stage of handling in order to prevent dehydration. The type of the research was descriptive quantitative. The population was 185 mothers who had under-five year old children, lived at Kelurahan Tegal Sari Mandala III, and had taken their children to Tegal Sari Puskesmas in the period of one year. 50 of them were used as the samples, using simple random sampling technique. The result of the research showed the description of the respondents’ characteristics as follows: the majority (52%) of the respondents is 25 to 34 years of age, was graduated from Junior High School (36%), most of them are working mother (46%), and most of them had lees than three children (46%). According to the respondents, the most effective information about the early handling of diarrhea was from television (68%). The knowledge of the respondents was in the moderate category (64%). The attitude of the respondents which belonged to the moderate category was (70%).The action of the respondents which belonged to the insufficient category was (66%). It is recommended that health workers at Tegal Sari Puskesmas and the agencies related to it should provide counseling and socialization properly with the message understood by the public about the early handling of diarrhea in order to prevent children under five years old from dehydration.

ABSTRACT Many factor affecting the members of youth organizations Budi Mulia (Album- Medan) to donate blood in medan red cross 2012. The importance of the availability of blood is to meet the need for blood transfusions that could occur anytime such as for accident victims, cesarean section and for patients with blood diseases such as hemophilia and thalassemia. Therefore, it is very important to know what are the factors that could affect members of youth organization such as ALBUM-Medan to donate their blood. The purpose of this study was aimed to determine the factors that affect members of youth organization ALBUM-Medan to donate blood. The factors were characteristics, sources of information, knowledge, social capital, attitude, reference groups, intentions and actions of members of youth organization ALBUM-Medan to donate blood at Medan Red Cross in 2012. This research used descriptive quantitative. The number of respondents in this study amounted to 62 people with total sampling as the sampling technique, where the respondent was a person who members of youth organizations ALBUM-Medan that register in 2009-2011. The results are presented in frequency distribution table. This is the result of the research, 33,9 % is 18th years old, 59,7% is male. The catagorized of youth’s sources of information is medium or 71,0%. The catagorized of youth’s knowledge is medium or 67,7%. And for the catagorized of the social capital is medium or 50,0%. The attitude of the responden considered good or 88,7%. The intention of the respondents considered good or 67,7% and for the youth’s action considered bad or 88,7%.

ABSTRACT Implementation of the Community Health Insurance (Jamkesmas) has the objective to improve access and quality of health services to all the poor and underprivileged in order to achieve an optimal level of public health effectively and efficiently. This study was a descriptive survey using a quantitative approach, to describe the behavior of the participants Jamkesmas in using health services in Kecamatan Padangsidimpuan Tenggara. The number of sample of this study was 95 households from 6361 population. The results of this study indicated that the knowledge of the respondents were generally in the category “not good” amounted to 76.8%, the attitude in the category of "medium" amounted to 96.8% and the action included in the category of "moderate" amounted to 50,5 %. The health workers were expected to provide good services either promotive, curative or rehabilitative to the Jamkesmas participants. The Head of Health Center was suggested to observe and provide health facilities required to carry out health services so that participants Jamkesmas would be more convenient using health care facilities.

ABSTRACT Antiretroviral therapy was a therapy that taken by people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) to increase their life quality. Although it hasn’t been able to cure disease but antiretroviral therapy could suppress viral load and increase CD4 of PLWHA. More of people living with HIV/AIDS who received ARV, hope their life quality be better if ARV was used obediently. Adherence was a patient's behavior to comply with the provisions given by health workers that include discipline and obedience. To assure adherence, it was critical for patient to receive and understand information about ARV, the ability/ willingness of long-term treatment, the drug-resistance, the side effects, the range of medicines and the time to initiate of therapy. This research aimed to know the associated factors of PLWHA’s adherence at RSU. dr. Pirngadi Medan in 2012. The design of this research was a cross sectional analytic with sample of 59 respondents and obtained by Accidental Sampling. The data analysis were used univariate and bivariate with Chi square test. By the univariate analysis known that respondents had a good knowledge (52.5%), good perception (76.3%), better health services (71.2%). Furthermore social support included in the medium category (57.6%) and adherence of PLHIV was high (57.6%). By the results of bivariate known that there was no associated between knowledge of ARV on adherence (p = 0.648) and there was no associated between perception on adherence (p = 0.231). In addition it was known that there was a associated between social support on adherence (p = 0.047) and there was a associated between health service to the perception patient undergoing ARV (p = 0.040). Health services and all levels of society were expected to continue to provide full support to them so as instill obedience and discipline to patient during undergo treatment and care with antiretroviral therapy.
