Abstract

Total ear defects in the form of losing the entire outer ear or only part of the ear will definitely affect for patient's confidence. Defect or loss of the ear can be caused by birth defects, acquired diseases or accidents. So, it takes a prosthese that functions to replace the lossing ear part, namely auricular prosthesis, so that the patient will feel confident again with his appearance. Temporary prosthesis is an alternative method that can be used in the short term before the use of a permanent prosthesis (definitive prosthesis). The purpose of this paper is to find out how to make temporary auricular prosthesis acrylic resin with retention eyeglasses to improve aestetics in patient with ear loss case. The method used is a case study (model) which is conventionally made, with moulding using donor techniques. In making temporary auricular prosthesis consists of several stages starting from the acceptance of the work model, the making of the wax pattern, flasking, boiling out, coloring, packing, curing, deflasking, finishing, polishing and sticking of retention. The results obtained are temporary auricular prosthesis can sticking well with eyeglasses stalks, there is no porous, the color does not match the work order and the polishing results are less smooth but quite shiny. The conclusion is that temporary auricular prosthesis in cases of repair of ear defects can be made using acrylic resin with mechanical retention of eyeglasses.

Abstract

Patients with central diastema disorders often feel shame and less of confident. The disorder can be repaired by a Labial veneer restoration. This restoration is an improvement in the form of a layer on the labial surface of the tooth selected because it gives satisfactory aesthetic results and maintains the tooth structure. At this time, the method of fabricating labial veneer all porcelain growing rapidly, such as making labial veneer all porcelain with base layer using press method like all porcelain E-max press. This paper aims to determine the stages and problem solving of the difficulties that arise in the procedure of fabricating labial veneer all porcelain with the basic layer of labial veneer using press method. The method is based on working model done in dental laboratory, starting from work model preparation, wax contouring (wax up), Sprueing, Investing, Preheating, Pressing, Divesting, Cutting sprue and Build-up porcelain. Results obtained from making this labial veneer all porcelain is a tightly closed diastema that forms a contact of the field, smooth and glossy surface and good aesthetic.

Abstract

Patients with loss of nasal anatomy effect surgical defects after total rhinectomy, often feel shame and less 0f confident to socialize with the people around. The defect due to loss of the nose can be repaired by nasal prosthesis. This nasal protesa is generally made by using flexible materials such as silicone. Silicone type room temperature vilcanitation (RTV) material is a silicone material often used because it is easy to manufacture, has good physical properties that is more adaptable to the skin and can be used in the long term. The purpose: to determine the stages and problem solving of the difficulties that arise in the procedure of fabricating definitive nasal prosthesis with RTV silicone material. The method is based on working model done in dental laboratory, starting from the preparation of work model, night pattern making, duplicate work model, flasking, boiling out, silicone application, curing, deflasking, finishing prosthesis. The results obtained by the prosthesis with the basic color and still require further staining, the natural anatomical form and in accordance with the working model although there is little porous in some places. Conclusion: the fabrication of nasal prostheses with RTV silicone material can be done with good results with anatomical form and texture that are almost identical to the original nose, but there is a shortage of the prosthesis can not be repaired in case of fault during the fabricating process

Abstract

Introduction: Acrylic denture in its use often results in fractures and one of the causes is due to poor mechanical resistance, especially to impact strength. Several methods to prevent broken acrylic, include the addition of fibers that function as reinforcement. There are 2 types of fibers, synthetic and natural fibers. Synthetic fibers are relatively expensive, so an alternative is needed, namely the use of natural fibers (Ramie and banana stem). This study purposed to determine the effect of adding ramie fiber and banana stem to impact and flexural strength of acrylic denture base. Methods: Experimental Laboratory, number of 60 samples consisted of 30 samples for flexural and impact tests. The sample was an acrylic plate; size 65x10x2.5 mm for Flexural Test and 80x10x4 mm (Flatwise impact method without notched) for Impact Test. The fiber concentration added was 1.6% of the sample weight. The sample consisted of 3 groups, namely control, the addition of ramie and banana stem fibers. Flexural test with UTM and Impact test with Charpy method. Results: Flexural and impact strength mean value of the ramie fiber group had the highest value (132.7459MPa; 7.9859 x 10-3Joule/mm2), followed by the control group (99.8499MPa; 4.2757 x 10-3Joule/mm2) and smallest value was in banana midrib fiber group (91.6865MPa; 3.0303 x 10-3Joule/mm2). The LSD test of significance(p) between each group in flexural and Impact Strength tests showed a significant difference (p<0.05). Pearson correlation test showed a significant positive correlation between the two tests. Conclusion: The addition of ramie fiber can increase the impact and flexural strength of denture acrylic, but it is different from the addition of banana midrib fiber because the presence of flavonoids (phenol compounds) it contains causes a decrease in the strength of denture acrylic.

Abstract

The manufacture of dentures, especially from polymethyl methacrylate affects the health of workers, especially those related to breathing. The manufacture produces dust of various sizes. The effects of exposure to dust cause discomfort at work and have a negative impact on health. This research objective was to determine the relationship between exposure to polymethyl methacrylate and subjective respiratory complaints. The method used was analytical quantitative research with a cross-sectional with a sample of 5 objects and a sample of 30 workers.dust content polymethyl methacrylate with a Portable High Volume Air Sampler and measurement of subjective respiratory Complaints with a questionnaire. There is a relationship between exposure to dust levels of polymethyl methacrylate on subjective respiratory complaints with p value = 0.006. The dust content of polymethyl methacrylate exceeds the threshold value at 2 sites (40% of the samples). There is a relationship between exposure to dust levels of polymethyl methacrylate on subjective respiratory complaints, p value 0.006 (p <0.05).

Abstract

Abstrak: Penggunaan gigi tiruan pada remaja dengan kehilangan gigi sangat penting, karena pada kondisi ini jika tidak segera dilakukan rehabitasi akan berpengaruh terhadap kesehatan secara umum. Remaja merupakan anak dengan usia 10-19 tahun, siswa-siswi SMK Assa’adah merupakan anak usia remaja yang mengalami perubahan anatomis, fisiologis maupun psikologis, sehingga mereka perlu pengetahuan tentang penyebab gigi hilang dan penggunaan gigi tiruan. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini ingin mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan remaja tentang penyebab kehilangan gigi dan penggunaan gigi tiruan, pemeriksaan gigi untuk mengetahui frekuensi kehilangan gigi dan dilakukan pembuatannya, evaluasi kepuasan terhadap penggunaan gigi tiruan. Metode berupa penyuluhan dengan ceramah melalui media power point dan video, pemeriksaan gigi, pembuatan gigi tiruan dan evaluasi kepuasan dengan mengisi kuesioner. Peserta  kegiatan terdiri dari  65 orang siswa-siswi SMK Assa’adah Jakarta. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan nilai rata-rata  siswa sebelum dan setelah penyuluhan sebesar 33,54 poin. Rata-rata nilai pre-test 53,077 dan  post-test yaitu 86,615 dan berdasarkan uji satistik  Wilcoxon Signed Test  didapatkan  ada pengaruh bermakna, nilai p = 0,00 (p 0,05). Pada pemeriksaan gigi, dijumpai banyak siswa yang mengalami kelainan gigi (55,4% ) termasuk 6,1% (4 siswa) yang kehilangan gigi dan tidak ada yang menggunakan gigi tiruan. Untuk 4 siswa dengan  kehilangan gigi dibuatkan gigi tiruan dan 1 minggu setelah penggunaan dilakukan evaluasi kepuasaan dengan mengisi kuesioner. Berdasarkan data dari kuesioner, didapatkan hasil interpretasi kepuasaan dengan skor 92,5% (ketegori sangat baik). Dengan meningkatnya pengetahuan tentang penyebab kehilangan gigi dan penggunaan gigi tiruan maka akan berdampak pada perilaku siswa untuk selalu menjaga kesehatan giginya dan dapat meningkatkan fungsi estetik dan pengunyahan pada siswa.Abstract: The use of dentures in adolescents with lost teeth is very important because this condition if not immediately rehabilitated will affect general health. Adolescents are children aged 10-19 years, SMK Assa’adah students are teenagers who experience anatomical, physiological, and psychological changes, so they need knowledge about the cause of loss tooth and the use of dentures. The purpose of this activity is to determine adolescents' level of knowledge about the use of dentures, and dental examinations to determine the frequency of lost teeth and make dentures, and evaluate satisfaction with the use of dentures. The methods include counseling using power point and video, dental examinations, making dentures, and evaluating satisfaction by filling out questionnaires. The participants consisted of 65 students of SMK Assa'adah Jakarta. The results of this activity showed an increase in knowledge of the mean value of students before and after counseling by 33.54 points. The mean value of the pre-test was 53.077 and the post-test was 86.615 and the Wilcoxon Signed Test statistical test found that there was a significant, p-value = 0.00 (p 0.05). In the dental examination, it was found that many students had dental abnormalities (55.4%) including 6.1% (4 students) who lost their teeth and none of them used dentures. For 4 students who lost their teeth, dentures were made and 1 week after use, satisfaction was evaluated by filling out a questionnaire. The results of the questionnaire of interpretation criteria of satisfaction with the use of dentures obtained a score of 92.5% (excellent category). With increasing knowledge about the causes of tooth loss and the use of dentures, it will have an impact on students' behavior to always maintain their dental health and can improve the aesthetic and masticatory function of students.

Abstract

Kehilangan gigi yang tidak segera diganti dapat berpengaruh pada penurunan efisiensi kunyah, kelainan fungsi bicara, mengurangi penampilan dll. Pemanfaatan gigi tiruan sangatlah penting untuk menggantikan gigi geligi yang telah hilang karena pencabutan, namun tidak semua orang memahami dan menyadari penggunaannya. Penyuluhan kesehatan gigi memerlukan sarana berupa media edukasi untuk mempermudah penyampaian informasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan membandingkan penggunaan leaflet dan video animasi terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan pentingnya penggunaan gigi tiruan pada mahasiswa Poltekkes Jakarta II. Desain penelitian Quasi eksperimen menggunakan metode pre-test post-test, jumlah sampel 32 mahasiswa aktif Poltekkes Jakarta II selain Jurusan Teknik Gigi, pada bulan februari-April 2020. Tahap awal semua partisipan dilakukan pre-test kemudian dilakukan intervensi dengan media leaflet dan video animasi selama 5 menit, setelah itu dilakukan post-test. Hasil penelitian dengan paired samples test (p0.05), didapatkan kelompok sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan dengan leaflet (p=0.027) dan video (p=0.02), kedua kelompok menunjukkan adanya perbedaan pengetahuan yang signifikan. Demikian juga didapatkan adanya perbedaan yang bermakna antara leaflet dan video animasi pada kelompok setelah post-test (p=0.002). Disimpulkan bahwa ada peningkatan pengetahuan setelah diberi perlakuan dengan Video animasi daripada penggunaan media leaflet.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: mahkota tiruan All Zirconia Multilayered CAD/CAM adalah mahkota tiruan yang dibuat untuk memperbaiki gigi yang rusak atau hilang menggunakan bahan zirconium yang mempunyai beberapa lapisan gradasi warna, sehingga estetik gigi tampak lebih baik dan alami. Dalam pembuatannya di laboratorium dental, mahkota tiruan ini menggunakan metode CAD/CAM, yaitu suatu teknologi modern dengan menggunakan perangkat Computer Aided Design dan Computer Aided Machining. Dukungan untuk mahkota tiruan dapat berupa implan yang ditanam dalam alveolar ridge atau disebut implan endosseus dan memerlukan tindakan invasif. Tujuan penulisan ini untuk menjelaskan prosedur pembuatan mahkota tiruan All Zirconia Multilayered CAD/CAM menggunakan dukungan gigi implan tipe endosseous. Laporan Kasus: seorang pasien laki-laki, 35 tahun dan kehilangan gigi 15, ingin memperbaiki kehilangan giginya agar tidak terlihat ompong dan fungsi pengunyahannya meningkat. Tiga bulan setelah penanaman implan, kemudian dibuatkan mahkota tiruan. Pembuatan mahkota tiruan dimulai dari proses mempersiapkan model kerja, scanning, menentukan margin abutment, desain full contour crown, proses milling, sintering, finishing, glazing, pemasangan dan kontrol. Hasil restorasi yang diperoleh bentuk anatomi mahkota tiruan sesuai gigi asli, warna dan kontak sesuai gigi sebelah dan antagonisnya, cekat, tidak ada kontak premature, tidak ada keluhan, pasien merasa puas dan nyaman. Kesimpulan: pembuatan mahkota tiruan All Zirconia Multilayered dengan metode CAD/CAM ini menghasilkan estetik yang lebih baik karena adanya lapisan gradasi warna sehingga tampak lebih alami, proses pembuatannya lebih cepat dan mudah dibandingkan dengan metode konvensional.
