Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan mengevaluasi dampak aplikasi pupuk kandang ayam dan abu boiler terhadap perbaikan pH tanah, ketersediaan fosfor (P-tersedia) serta hasil tanaman kedelai (Glycine max L.) pada Ultisol. Studi ini dilakukan dari Agustus hingga Januari di pekarangan Nusa Grand Abadi, Kecamatan Kota Baru, Kota Jambi, Provinsi Jambi. Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) digunakan berdasarkan arah kemiringan lahan, terdiri dari enam perlakuan: A1 = 5 t/ha pupuk kandang ayam; A2 = 5 t/ha pupuk kandang ayam + 2,5 t/ha abu boiler A3 = 5 t/ha pupuk kandang ayam + 5 t/ha abu boiler; A4 = 10 t/ha pupuk kandang ayam; A5 = 10 t/ha pupuk kandang ayam + 2,5 t/ha abu boiler; dan A6 = 10 t/ha pupuk kandang ayam + 5 t/ha abu boiler. Ada 24 petak percobaan karena setiap perlakuan diulang empat kali. Ditanami 75 tanaman kedelai per petak, dengan 8 tanaman sampel per petak, sehingga total 192 tanaman sampel dihasilkan. pH tanah, kadar P-tersedia, tinggi tanaman, jumlah polong per tanaman, dan hasil biji kedelai per petak adalah semua faktor yang diamati. Untuk setiap variabel yang daiamati, analisis ragam (ANOVA) dan uji lanjut DMRT pada taraf 5% digunakan untuk menganalisis data. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa pupuk kandang ayam dan abu boiler memiliki efek signifikan. Untuk mencapai hasil terbaik, komibinasi 10 t/ha pupuk kandang ayam dan 5 t/ha abu boiler digunakan. Ini meningkatkan pH tanah, P yang tersedia dan hasil kedelai.

Abstract

This investigation aimed to study the response of chili to the application of biochar and vermicompost, and to find the combination that produced the best growth and yield of red chili. The trial was conducted at the Teaching and Research Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jambi from May 2023 through to October 2023. The treatments tested were the application of five different soil ameliorant, i.e. 100% biochar, 75% biochar + 25% vermicompost, 50% biochar + 50% vermicompost, 25% biochar + 75% vermicompost, 100% vermicompost, and 100% NPK fertilizer.  The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized block design with four replications each consisted of 14 plants (7 of them were taken as sample plants). The results showed that the application of biochar along with vermicompost could increase the growth and yield of red chili. The use of 25% biochar + 75% vermicompost resulted in the highest growth and yield, indicated by average fruit number of 58.75 per plant and fruit weight of 173.71 g per plant, or 6.95 ton·ha-1.  Thus, our study proved that the application of biochar and vermicompost is crucial to improve drought-tolerance of red chili cultivated in dry land.
