Abstract

One of skills which must be achieved by mathematics pre-service teachers is the basic skills of teaching mathematics. By having these skills, the pre-service teachers are expected to be able to become qualified teachers of the field they are going to have. However, there are still many mathematics pre-service teachers and mathematics teachers who haven’t achieved good basic skills of teaching mathematics. This was one of many factors that cause students’ low achievement in math. This study aims at solving the problem by developing learning materials with Search-Solve-Create-Share strategy to enhance the pre-service teachers’ basic skills of teaching mathematics. The research method used in this study is modified research and development method. In a nutshell, this study provides a significant contribution towards research in the mathematics education field particularly in producing suitable learning materials to enhance the pre-service teachers’ basic skills of teaching mathematics. Keywords: Basic Skills of Teaching Mathematics, Learning Material, Search-Solve-Create-Share

Abstract

One of the mathematical abilities that need to be owned by junior school students is a problem solving ability. By having the ability of problem solving, the students can be a good problem solver in every field that they do later. In fact, there are many junior high school students who have not achieved a good mathematical problem solving, especially in SPLDV topic. This research aims to improve students' problem-solving ability through the application of Pembelajaran Pelangi Matematika model in SPLDV topic. This type of research is a qualitative research using descriptive analysis method, any giving of the treatment was observed through observation sheets of student activity and observation sheet of teacher activities. To know the result of the given treatment, performed the final test and questionnaire. The results obtained from this study are the application of PPM models are able to bring students into the learning situation more meaningful and enjoyablein the process of classroom learning. The strategy of grouping students homogeneously brings independence and confidence of students to solve problems encountered. The steps used by PPM model make students did not feel depressed and even tend to be enthusiastic during the learning process takes place. Enhancing mathematical problem-solving ability of students at the high category and the students have a positive attitude towards the implementation of PPM model.The conclusion from this study is that the application of PPM models can enhance mathematical problem solving ability of students, especially in the SPLDV topic.

Abstract

AbstarctThis study was intended to know students’ achievement and ability development in mathematical problem solving through contextual learning. This study was conducted in experimental method comparing the mathematical problem solving ability of students that were taught through contextual approach and students that were taught by conventional learning. This research design used pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this study was all students of grade VIII at a school with 80 students from two classes as sample subject.  The experimental group was taught using contextual learning and control group was taught using conventional approach. The instrument which was used in this study is mathematical problem solving ability test and student affective scale based on Likert scale. From this study, it can be concluded that: 1) the mathematical problem solving ability of students that were taught through contextual approach is better than students that were taught using conventional approach; 2) the development of mathematical problem solving ability of students that were taught through contextual approach is better than student that were taught using conventional approach; 3) the students showed positive affective in contextual learning.

Abstract

AbstrakMemiliki keterampilan dasar mengajar yang baik dalam mengajarkan konsep matematika masih menjadi kendala bagi beberapa mahasiswa calon guru matematika, padahal keterampilan tersebut merupakan dasar bagi mereka untuk menjadi calon guru yang profesional.Oleh karena itu diperlukan suatu strategi pembelajaran yang dapat memfasilitasi para mahasiswa calon guru dalam mengembangkan dan menguasai keterampilan dasar mengajar matematika.Pembelajaran dengan strategi search-solve-create-share mampu mengoptimalkan keterampilan dasar mengajar matematika para mahasiswa calon guru. Tahap-tahap pada pembelajaran dengan strategi ini mampu memfasilitasi dan mengembangkan komponen-komponen keterampilan dasar mengajar matematika pada para mahasiswa calon guru.AbstractHaving a good teaching basic skills in teaching mathematical concepts is still an obstacle for some prospective teachers of mathematics, but these skills are the foundation for them to become profesional teachers. Therefore required a learning strategy that can facilitate prospective teachers in developing and master the basic skills taught mathematics. Learning with search-solve-create-share strategies can optimize mathematics teaching basic skills of the prospective teachers. The phases on learning with these strategies were able to facilitate and develop the components of mathematics teaching basic skills for prospective teachers.
