<![CDATA[Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat pemahaman siswa menggunakan three-tier multiple choice dan penyebab kesulitan siswa pada materi termokimia. Penelitian dilakukan di MAN Model Banda Aceh menggunakan rancangan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI MIA 5 yang berjumlah 17 siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini adalah purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data diperoleh dengan tes three-tier multiple choice yang terdiri dari 12 soal dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata persentase kemampuan siswa pada materi termokimia adalah 9,79% yang paham konsep, 24,50% tidak paham konsep, 63,72% mengalami miskonsepsi, dan 1,96% error. Berdasarkan kriteria pendeskripsian tingkat pemahaman konsep siswa, persentase yang diperoleh berada dibawah 30%-45% dengan kategori gagal. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan siswa kurang memahami pada persamaan termokimia dan konsep mol. Faktor penyebab kesulitan siswa antara lain siswa kurang mampu dalam menyimpan informasi secara luas, kurang fokus pada saat guru menjelaskan, sulit dalam memahami materi yang bersifat algoritmik, membutuhkan alat bantu untuk berhitung, dan kurangnya fasilitas laboratorium menyebabkan siswa gagal mendapatkan hasil yang akurat.Kata kunci : kesulitan, termokimia, three-tier multiple choice.AbstractThe objectives of study were to understand level of students understanding by using three-tier multiple choice and cause of students adversity in learning of thermochemistry. The study was conducted in MAN Model Banda Aceh by model of descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Subject of study was 17 students of class XI MIA 5. Then, technique of sampling was purposive sampling. Data were collected by using test of three-tier multiple choice which is consist of 12 questions and interview. The study indicated that the average percentages of students understanding were 9.79% of understand the conception, 24.50% of wrong conception, 63.72% of misconception and 1.90 of error. According to the description of level of understanding, the percentage was under of 30%-45% with a category of failure. Consequently, the analysis of data exhibited that the students have lack of understanding in learning of thermochemistry and mole concept. The students adversity was caused by lack of memorize in order to keep huge information, bad focus when the teacher teach, difficult to understand the algorithmic materials, require the counting-tools, and lack of laboratory facilities.Keyword: adversity, thermochemistry, three-tier multiple choice.]]>
