Abstract

This study aims to describe the social reality during the pandemic that appears in the short stories Atai Balak dan Rencana Lebaran Corona. This qualitative descriptive research analyzes social reality with a sociological approach to literature. Data collection is done by listening and note-taking techniques. Data analysis was done by using the content analysis method and the sociology of literature approach. The results of the study show that 1) this short story can be a reflection of reality during a pandemic, 2) the life of the lower class community during a pandemic is represented in Atai Balak as the main character, and 3) social reality during a pandemic that can be found in the short story, namely related to the policy of Large-Scale Social Restrictions and the reality of increasing poverty.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan realitas sosial pada masa pandemi yang tampak pada cerpen Atai Balak dan Rencana Lebaran Korona. Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif ini menganalisis realitas sosial dengan pendekatan sosiologi sastra. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik simak dan teknik catat. Analisis data dilakukan dengan metode analisis isi dan pendekatan sosiologi sastra. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) cerpen ini dapat menjadi cerminan kenyataan pada masa pandemi, 2) kehidupan masyarakat kalangan bawah pada masa pandemi terepresentasi pada diri Atai Balak sebagai tokoh utama, dan 3) realitas sosial pada masa pandemi yang dapat ditemukan dalam cerpen tersebut, yaitu terkait dengan kebijakan Pembatasan Sosial Berskala Besar (PSBB) dan realitas kemiskinan yang semakin meningkat.

Abstract

Mantra Orang Jawa (MOJ) merupakan penulisan ulang mantra-mantra Jawa dalam bentuk puisi. Dalam kebudayaan Jawa, mantra memiliki fungsi yang tidak terbatas. Hal tersebut menimbulkan suatu asumsi bahwa dalam kumpulan puisi MOJ yang merupakan puitisasi mantra-mantra Jawa terdapat sebuah signifikansi (makna) yang khusus. Signifikansi tersebut tidak disampaikan secara langsung, melainkan melalui tanda-tanda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan proses pencarian signifikansi terhadap enam puisi dalam antologi MOJ yang disampaikan melalui tanda-tanda. Pencarian signifikansi menggunakan teori semiotika Riffaterre. Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan, keenam puisi yang menjadi sampel memiliki signifikansi yang berbeda. Dalam masing-masing puisi tersebut ditemukan adanya pandangan-pandangan khusus dari masyarakat Jawa terhadap kehidupannya. Pandangan hidup masyarakat Jawa tersebut berfungsi untuk mendapatkan kesempurnaan hidup.Kata kunci : mantra orang jawa, semiotika riffaterre, signifikansi (makna)

Abstract

This research was structured with two objectives, the first, to describe the ability to write personal narrative essays of PBSI USD students with Storybird media.  Second, describe what components of narrative writing need to be improved in Creative Writing lectures. This research is included in quantitative descriptive research. The population in this study were sixty-nine PBSI USD students who took the Creative Writing course. The source of the data in this study is the result of a narrative essay made by the sixty-nine PBSI USD students who took the Creative Writing course. To determine the level of ability to write narrative descriptions, the components of narrative writing that have not been mastered by students include orientation, complications, evaluation (if any), resolution, code, linguistics of narrative essay, and spelling. This research data collection was carried out using a narrative writing test using the Storybird media. Based on the results of calculations and data analysis, two results were obtained from this study. First, the ability to write narratives of personal experiences of PBSI USD students using Storybird is in the medium category with an average of 5,33, the standard deviation of 1.94, and is in the score interval of 4.36-6.2. Second, there are two narrative components that need to be improved in creative writing training, especially in narrative writing. The two components include the structure of the narrative text and linguistic components at the phonological, morphology, syntax, and spelling levels.
