Abstract

PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya is a company engaged in logistics, container services. Since the end of December 2019, PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya began implementing a gate automation system at gate in exports. One thing that is done to support the gate automation is the Exception Area which is used as a data repair place for trucks that experience problems during the gate-in export process before heading to the stacking field. Containers that are constrained during the gate-in process indicate that there are procedural errors carried out by internal companies and external parties, such as drivers, forwarders, and importers related to administrative and technical problems. This research focuses on controlling the quality of container problems that enter the exception area by using a statistical method in the form of lean six sigma. The purpose of this study is to determine the average length of time to resolve containers for each problem, to know the quality of and the sigma level of the average length of time to resolve containers that enter the Exception Area based on the average number of container problems entering the Exception Area according to five problem criteria, knowing the problems that cause themost of the containers that enter the Exception Area. The results of the analysis in this study are the average length of time for containers that enter the Exception Area for each problem as a whole, the highest is caused by the system and the lowest is due to the closing time. The average number of container problems that enter the Exception Area in accordance with the five criteria, the problem has been controlled statistically with the most problem causes caused by the system, and the sigma level value is obtained from the average number of container problems that enter the Exception Area according to the five problem criteria which is 3,395, which means the variation or diversity of container problems that enter the exception area based on the problems of the containers that enter the Exception Area according to the five criteria, the problem is quite large.

Abstract

PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya is an international standard container terminal that always makes innovations to improve the quality of container export and import services. OCR is a container data identification tool that has begun to be used at the gate in the automation of exports of PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya. The existence of OCR at the gate in export automation creates a new time motion for transactions that need to be known about the processing capabilities. Using the control chart and Ishikawa diagram, it is found that the time motion transactions that occur at the gate in automation exports of PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya are statistically out of control and incapable of being caused by many factors, both internal and external.

Abstract

Goods from abroad entering Indonesia must go through several stages of inspection. One of the final inspection stages of imported goods is through the import gate out of PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (PT TPS). Import Gate Out is the entry and exit access for each truck that will carry out activities in the area of PT TPS. The gate itself functions as a place to identify containers that will enter whether they are in accordance with the data and as a place of confirmation for the commanderer who will leave the port whether it has been completed and is in accordance with the existing procedures. In the import gate out process, there are operators in charge to ensure that the incoming or outgoing containers are in accordance with the existing system at PT TPS. In carrying out its duties, gate operators are expected to have the skills and speed to serve every container that will enter or leave PT TPS. To determine the extent of the performance duration of the gate operator PT TPS a research was conducted on the service time of the import gate out operator using descriptive analysis and control charts. This research was conducted using data collection techniques by observation. The results of this study indicate that the average transaction per day is 33.5 seconds.
