Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of compost pod husks and bark compost dose of the best cacao in the medium Red Yellow Podzolic  on the growth of seedlings of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq). This research was conducted at the experimental farm, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau Jl. Bina Widya Baru Simpang KM 12.5, Tampan, Pekanbaru. This study was conducted over four months starting from June 2015 to September 2015. This study was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 5 treatments and each treatment was repeated 4kali thus obtained 20 experimental units, each unit consisting experiment of 2 seeds. The total number of 40 seeds and seedlings observations were made at all. Parameters measured were as height seed, in the number of leaves, the increase in diameter stump, root volume, dry weight ratio of canopy seeds and roots. It can be concluded that composting pod husks on oil palm seedlings in the medium PMK significant effect on the increase seedling height, leaf number, root volume and dry weight of seedlings, but the effect is not noticeable to the diameter of the stump and roots canopy ratio. At doses of compost pod husks 125 g/polybag provide the best dose results in increase in the number of leaves, root volume and dry weight of seedlings. As for the high increment dose of compost plant pod husks best was 50 g/polybag. While on the increase in diameter tubers and roots canopy ratio dose of 100 g/polybag is the best dose.   Keywords: Palm Oil, Cocoa Fruit Feel Compost, Red-Yellow Podzolic Soil

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the interaction of cocoa pods compost (KKBK) and coconut water as well as finding the best dosage of compost and the best concentration of coconut water of chose on the growth of cocoa seedling (Theobroma cacao L.). This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors. First factor is the dosage of cocoa pods compost which 4 levels. Second factor is the concentration of coconut water which 3 levels. The combination of these two factors become 12 treatmens and with 3 replication there are 36 experimental units. Each experimental units 2 seedlings so that there 72 seedlings. Parameters observed are seedling height, stem diameter, number of leafs and leaf area. Analysis used Analysis of Variance and further by Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5 % level. The result of the research shows that combination of KKBK application and coconut water has no effect to all parameters. The combination of KKBK with dosage of 210 g/plant and the concentration of coconut water of 75 % trend to increase seedling height and stem diameter of cocoa seedling. The application of KKBK with 210 g/plant dosage has good effect on seedling height, stem diameter, number of leaf, and leaf area. The application of coconut water with 75 % concentration has good effect on stem diameter and  number of leaf,  and with 100 % concentration has good effect on seedling height and leaf area.   Keywords : cocoa, compost, cocoa pods compost, coconut water

Abstract

This study aims to get palm oil seedlings goodness although the seedlings in difference level of waterlogging. The experiment has been conducted in the greenhouse Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Pekanbaru from December 2015 to March 2016. This study used a completely randomized factorial design consisting of two factors and three replications. The first factor was the concentration of liquid fertilizer(LF) consists of 3 levels p0: No LF, p1: LF 9,000 ppm, and p2: LF 18,000 ppm and the second factor wasthe difference level of waterlogging, consists of 3 levels t0: No waterlogging, t1: Waterlogging to 3cm below of growing point level, t2: Waterlogging 3 cm above of growing point level. The parameters measured were:seedling height, stem diameter, number of leaves, seedling dry weight, shoot root ratio. The mean separation of the tested by Duncan’s new multiple range test  at 5% level. The result showed that no effect of interaction between the difference level of waterlogging and concentration of LF on seedling growth component Tenera palm oil seedling. The waterlogging 3 cm above of growing point level tends to inhibit the growth of seedling i.e. height, dry weight of roots and shoot root ratio of palm oil seedlings. Liquid fertilizer complementary positive effect on the dry weight of oil palm seedlings were experiencing on waterlogging to 3cm below of growing point level, but a negative effect on palm oil seedlings in waterlogging 3 cm above of growing point level.  Keywords: palm oil, waterlogging level, liquid fertilizer
