Abstract

Abstract The water in the pond at PT Bumi Siak Pusako-Pertamina Upstream Eor Plant Gathering Station is polluted by oil. The presence of oil in pond water triggers gene mutations in bacteria so that the bacteria can produce biosurfactants to degrade oil. The aim of this study was to obtain a biosurfactant-producing bacterial isolate and was carried out in January - February 2019. Bacterial isolation was started by taking 5 ml of pool water samples and mixed with 40 ml of Bacterial Fertilizing media namely Brain Heart Infusion (BHI) and then incubated for 1 x 24 hours . Then the bacteria are grown using Mac conkey media. Pure bacteria are biochemically tested and emulsified. Morphological and biochemical characteristics show that 2 species of bacteria, namely Provindensia sp and Citrobacter sp. Emulsification index results show that all bacteria obtained have the potential to produce biosurfactants. Keywords: Providensia sp, Citrobacter sp

Abstract

AbstractLaundry liquid waste is rich in TSS and TDS. Efforts to reduce the level of TSS and  TDS can be conducted by using biofilter. To understand the effect of  plastic bottle biofilter media with different amountsto reduce the TSS and TDS the laundry liquid waste, a research has been done in October-December 2019. There were 3 treatments applied, namely the number of bottles 25 (P1), 50 (P2) and  75 (P3) in anaerobic reactors with 3 replications in each treatments. Each anaerobic reactor contains a series of modified plastic bottles. The seeding time of the biofilm was 30 days and the retention time of the water was 8 hours. The effectiveness of TSS decrement was 61.7%, 73.8% dan 83.5% in P1, P2, and P3 respectively. While the effectiveness of TDS decrement was 47.1%, 61.3% and 72.1%. in P1, P2, and P3 respectively. Based on this research, it could be concluded that the of  plastic bottle biofilter media with different was able to reduce of TSS dan TDS in the laundry liquid waste. And plastic bottle media with different show a real different decreament of those parameters. Keywords: wastewater, detergent, contaminant, continue system, bacteria.

Abstract

AbstractUsed plastic bottles can be used for biofilter media, as microorganisms may attach in the bottle surface. To understand the effectiveness of the number of plastic bottles in the anaerob tank in reducing BOD5 and COD in laundry waste, a research has been done in October-December 2019. There were 3 treatments applied, namely P1 (25 bottles,  11.540 cm2 surface area),  P2 (50 bottles, 23.080 cm2 surface area) and  P3 (75 bottles,  34.619 cm2  surface area), with 3 replications in each treatments. The seeding time of the biofilm was 25 days and the retention time of the water was 12 hours. The effectiveness of BOD5 decrement was 48.4%, 61.1% dan 69.4% in P1, P2, and P3 respectively. While the effectiveness of COD decrement was 44.5%, 50% and61.8% in P1, P2, and P3 respectively. Based on data obtained, it can be concluded that the biofilter that was completed with plastic bottleswas able to reduce the BOD5 and COD in the laundry liquid waste and P3 provided the best result. Keywords: anaerob, bacteri, waste management, plastic bottle re-use

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe Outlet Waters of the Koto Panjang Reservoir get an abundance of water from the Koto Panjang Reservoir. The reservoir is used for fishing, plantation and other activities that have the potential to cause pollution, especially by heavy metals.Heavy metals are very dangerous because they cannot be destroyed by living things. This study aims to determine the heavy metal content of Pb in the organs (gills, kidneys, muscles) of baung fish (Hemibagrus mumurus) at the Outlet of the Koto Panjang Reservoir, Lubang Kolam, Kampar Regency. This research was conducted using a survey method by observing and taking samples of baung fish and water quality parameters (temperature, pH, depth, brightness, DO and CO2) from the Outlet flow of the Koto Panjang Reservoir. The content of heavy metal Pb was analyzed by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer at the UPT Construction Materials Laboratory of the PUPR Office of Riau Province. This research was conducted in August-December 2020.The results showed that the average heavy metal content of Pb in the kidneys of baung fish was 0.032 mg/kg, gills was 0.026 mg/kg and muscles were 0.007 mg/kg. It was concluded that the Pb content in baung fish was in accordance with SNI 7387:2009 and the fish was fit for consumption. Keywords: Hemibagrus nemurus, heavy metal, Pb, Koto Panjang Reservoir Outlet
