Abstract

Abstract: The study was conducted to find out whether or not there was any significant correlation between inferential comprehension and reading comprehension of the students of English Education Study Program FKIP Sriwijaya University Indralaya, whether or not there is a contribution of inferential comprehension to the reading comprehension, whether or not there is any significant difference between male and female students and whether or not there is any significant difference among students of different semesters in terms of their inferential comprehension and their reading comprehension. The researcher used population sampling in which the total number of the students was 126 students. It consisted of 18 male students and 108 female students. To collect the data, the researcher used 2 kinds of tests, namely inferential comprehension test and reading comprehension test. The results of the tests were analyzed by using the Pearson Product Moment Coefficient Correlation through Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 21.0, Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, t-Test, and ANOVA. The results showed that the correlation between inferential comprehension and reading comprehension was 0.627 in which inferential comprehension contributed 39.4% to the reading comprehension. It was also found that there was a significant difference between male and female students and also a significant difference among students of different semesters in terms of inferential comprehension and reading comprehension. Based on the findings, it could be concluded that there was a significant correlation between inferential comprehension and reading comprehension. Abstract

Abstract: This developmental research was aimed to design, try-out, and revise the effectiveness of model in English learning in elementary school. The method in this research was Research and Development (R & D). This research began with the development of learning material, learning process, and instrument evaluation that would be tested limitedly in three elementary schools and 6 teachers and would be tested widely in 15 elementary schools and 30 teachers through questionnaire, observation, interview, and result analysis. The improvement of the final product of questioning cycle model in English learning that collaborated humanism and constructivism approach was based on the feedback in the field trial. The special target that wanted to be achieved in this research was to create an interesting model in English learning for students and learning textbook-centered to make English teaching and learning process easy and fun for primary school pupils. Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this study was to find out whether or not there was any significant differencein English speaking performance of the 11th grade students of SMA Methodist 2 Palembang after being taught using Edmodo. The sample of this study was 26 eleventh grade students of SMA Methodist 2 Palembang which were taken by using convenience sampling method from the total of 136 students. This study used within- group experimental design that is one group pretest-posttest design. Two raters did the scoring for the students’ pre-test and post-test based on the rubric provided by the researcher. To collect the data, the students were given a pretest and a posttest. The  data were analyzed by using paired sample t test. The result showed: (1) there was a significant improvement in students’ speaking skill after they were taught by using Edmodo (mean diff=7.23; p-value=.000). The mean score of each aspect of speaking skill in the posttest was higher than in the pretest and p-value were <0.05, and (2) the majority of the students agreed that Edmodo was effective to use.
