Abstract

The aims of this research were to isolate and identify pathogenic proteolytic bacteria from external body part of GIFT tilapia and to study the role of the selected bacteria. Twenty bacterial isolates that were incubated at room temperature (25-27ºC) revealed proteolytic activity in nutrient agar containing 0.5% skimmed milk. Staphylococcus sp strain T.c2 and Necromonas sp.strain T.s2 isolates from infected tilapia  were selected based on the proteolytic index.  Postulat Koch test showed that Necromonas sp. strain T.s2. was pathogenic bacteria for tilapia and has a high value of proteolytic index. Keywords : Tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus, proteolytic bacteria, pathogen.   ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengisolasi dan mengidentifikasi bakteri  proteolitik patogen dari bagian eksternal ikan nila strain GIFT serta untuk mempelajari peranan dari bakteri proteolitik terpilih.  Duapuluh isolat bakteri yang diinkubasi pada suhu ruang (25-27ºC) menunjukkan aktivitas proteolitik dalam media agar yang mengandung 0,5% susu skim. Berdasarkan indeks proteolitik tertinggi, diidentifikasi dua isolat yaitu Staphylococcus sp. strain T.c2 dan Necromonas sp. .strain T.s2 dari ikan nila yang terinfeksi.  Uji Postulat Koch menunjukkan bahwa isolat Necromonas sp.strain T.s2  bersifat patogen bagi ikan nila dan memiliki indeks proteolitik yang tinggi.
