Abstract

Background: The World Health Organization (WHO) states that premature birth occurs before 37 weeks of complete pregnancy and is a leading cause of death of newborns. As for interventions that could be done to improve this, includes listening to the mother's voice and lullabies (lullaby). Mother's voice can affect respiration rate, heart rate, oxygen saturation, infant’s oral feeding skill, premature infant weight gain, brain maturation, and the infant’s physical response. Objective: The purpose of this research was to find the effect of mother's voice recordings on the state of the heart rate of premature babies in the HCU Neonatal Room of RSUD Dr. Moewardi. This study was completed in the neonatal HCU room of RSUD Dr. Moewardi.Method: The sampling technique used is consecutive sampling method, based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. This study uses a quasi-experimental design with a pre and post-test design without control group. The analysis test used was paired t-test since the normality test results showed p values of 0.05 (normal distribution).Result: The results of the Paired T-Test showed a p-value of 0,000 (p0.05) which means, there is significant difference in heart rate between before and after the application of the mother's voice recording. Conclusion: In conclusion Mother's voice recording influences changes in the heart rate of premature babies. The implications of the mother's voice recording can be used for the treatment of premature infants in the HCU Neonatal room and NICU.

Abstract

Cannulation is an act of inserting a needle through the skin into a blood vessel (AV Shunt or Femoral) as a means of connecting the vascular circulation and the dialysis machine during the hemodialysis process, cannulation is a procedure that causes psychological problems in the form of anxiety and physical problems in the form of pain due to the insertion of a large needle during hemodialysis. Relaxation training can be done for a limited period of time and usually has no side effects. One of them can use the Guided imagery technique. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Virtual Reality (VR) relaxation on the pain scale during the Vascular Access Cannulation procedure for Hemodialysis Patients at Maguan Husada Pracimantoro Hospital. This study used a Pre-experimental research type with One group pretest-posttest design, conducted in the Hemodialysis Room of Maguan Husada Pracimantoro Hospital in March 2024. This study uses purposive sampling techniqu. The sample used was 56 people. The data collection tool used a numeric rating scale pain assessment sheet. The data analysis used was the Wilcoxon analysis. The results of the study showed that pain before Virtual Reality (VR) relaxation was carried out, the average pain of respondents was 5.96. Pain after Virtual Reality (VR) relaxation for 10 minutes 38 seconds was known to have an average pain of respondents on a scale of 3.36. The results of the Wilcoxon Strained Rank Test with a significant value (p value) of 0.000 < 0.005. There is an effect of virtual reality (VR) relaxation on the pain scale during the procedure of installing vascular access cannulation for hemodialysis patients at Maguan Husada Pracimantoro Hospital.

Abstract

Abstract

Cancer treatment experienced by children and adolescents has a wide range of impacts, including nutritional status. Nutritional status changes the shape of children and adolescents with cancer. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between malnutrition and the physical appearance of children with cancer. The design of this study was cross-sectional, the sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with cancer children undergoing active treatment who were school-aged and adolescents. There are 47 respondents. Multiple regression is a statistical analysis in this study. Data were collected directly at the hospital after obtaining ethical approval and permission from the hospital and the patient's parents/guardians, using physical measurements (LLA) and questionnaires (SPPC), as well as demographic data. Predicted factors of physical appearance (R2 = 0.36, p = 0.00) were sex (β = -0.17, p = 0.27), age (β = 0.02, p = 0.48), cancer type (β = 0.24, p = 0.51), and nutritional status (β = 0.12, p = 0.00). Being female, older, having solid mass cancer, and having a higher body mass index will affect the physical appearance of a child with cancer. Children with cancer are particularly susceptible to nutritional problems, both undernourished and overnourished, which directly affect their physical appearance. These changes, such as hair loss, weight changes, and skin color, create significant psychological distress on children and adolescents, especially due to concerns about social acceptance. Studies show that good nutritional status is positively correlated with better physical appearance, underscoring the importance of comprehensive nutritional interventions as an essential part of childhood cancer care. Nutritional status is the most significant predictor of the physical appearance of children with cancer, where better nutrition is directly correlated with better physical appearance. Cancer is more common in boys and blood cancer is most common, physical changes due to treatment greatly affect psychological well-being, especially in adolescent girls who feel greater pressure related to body image.

Abstract

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a critical life-saving procedure in the management of cardiac arrest. High-quality chest compressions significantly determine the effectiveness of CPR, including adequate depth, rate, and consistency. Rescuer stability plays a crucial role in maintaining compression quality, and the use of a footrest may help maintain ergonomic posture, reduce fatigue, and enhance the effectiveness of chest compressions. This study aims to analyse the effect of footrest use on the quality of chest compressions during CPR simulation among professional nursing students at Kusuma Husada University Surakarta. This research employed a quasi- experimental design with a post-test only control group approach. A total of 44 participants were selected using purposive sampling, with inclusion criteria of having received CPR training and possessing a normal body mass index (BMI). Observational instruments were used based on the five indicators of CPR quality according to the 2020 AHA guidelines: depth, rate, hand placement, interruptions, and chest recoil. The sample was divided into experimental and control groups. The results showed that CPR quality with the use of a footrest was predominantly in the high category (90%) compared to those without a footrest (81.8%). The Mann- Whitney test (p= .000) indicated a significant effect of footrest use on the quality of chest compressions. Further research is recommended under actual clinical conditions.
