Abstract

This study is based on the Cryptical Period Hypothesis by Lenneberg (1976) which states that ages 2 to 12 are ideal for achieving language skills like native speakers of a foreign language. Based on this hypothesis, the most appropriate time for Indonesian children to learn English as a foreign language is in elementary school. However, government policy through the 2013 curriculum no longer requires children in elementary school to learn English. Therefore, this study aims to compare the learning achievement of students between those who study and those who do not learn English in primary schools. This research is very important to be carried out for consideration by the government in determining policies related to learning English in elementary schools. This research is a comparative descriptive study. The sample consisted of two groups that were selected through purposive sampling technique, namely those who studied and did not learn English in primary schools and did not attend previous English courses. Data are grouped, as a percentage, and then compared. The results showed that students who studied English in primary schools had better English learning achievement than students who did not learn English in primary schools.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang bangun sebuah perangkat Automatic Transfer Switch/Automatic Main Failure (ATS/AMF) agar suplai listrik ke beban serta energi listrik yang dikonsumsi dapat termonitor dan terjaga kontinuitasnya. NodeMCU Esp32S digunakan sebagai pusat dari sistem kontrol yang secara otomatis mendeteksi dan memastikan ketersediaan suplai listrik dari PLN atau suplai cadangan yaitu Genset. Genset yang digunakan adalah generator 1 phasa yang berkapasitas 8000 Watt dengan tegangan output 220 volt. Informasi terkait konsumsi energi dan suplai listrik yang melayani beban dapat termonitor pada Smartphone Android yang terkoneksi dengan jaringan internet secara real time.. Hasil pengujian rancangan memperlihatkan pengalihan suplai energi listrik ketika terjadi gangguan atau hilang suplai energi listrik dari catu daya utama (PT.PLN) ke catu daya alternatif (Genset) membutuhkan waktu ± 21 detik, sebaliknya membutuhkan waktu ± 3 detik pada saat pengalihan ketika catu daya utama kembali normal. Selain itu alat hasil rancangan juga dapat mengoperasikan Genset secara manual melalui Smartphone Android dari jarak berapapun selama alat hasil rancangan terhubung dengan jaringan WiFi

Abstract

 Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menghitung biaya operasi unit pembangkit listrik tenaga uap (PLTU) yang dioperasikan oleh PT. Rekind Daya Mamuju. Besarnya biaya operasi yang diperlukan untuk membangitkan daya sebesar 2 x 30 MW adalah Rp 483,046,876.. Untuk mendapatkan tujuan penelitian, metode itrasi lambda digunakan untuk menghasilkan biaya operasi yang lebih murah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa total biaya operasi bahan bakar yang diperlukan adalah sebesar Rp 476,179,149 untuk kedua pembangkit tersebut. Dengan demikian besarnya biaya penghematan yang bisa tercapai dengan penggunaan metode ini sebesar Rp. 6,867,727.  Penelitian ini dilakukan pada tanggal 21 Februari 2021.

Abstract

The research investigated the implementation of Intensive Reading (IR) and Extensive Reading (ER) that is suitable for English class in Polytechnic that focuses on the ability of English practice. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR), which consists of three stages, namely pretest, treatment, and posttest.  Based on the results of the pretest, it can be concluded that reading skill of the second semester students from Computer and Networking Engineering study program before the implementation of IR and ER method were still relatively low, in the classification of poor (25%) represented by 11 students and in very poor classification (18.2%) achieved by 8 students. After three times treatment by using three different articles for English reading text, the reading skill of students increased significantly in the presence of 2 students (4.5%) in the classification of very good and there were only 6 students were in poor and very poor classification. Based on posttest result, reading skill of students enhance significantly with 5 students (11.4%) were in very good classification.
