Abstract

In the economic view, the manufacturing sector is important in relationship to its role in economicgrowth and the whole economy. This empirical work examines why manufacturing disparityexists, and what institutional and spatial factors empirically have an important effect onthe manufacturing sector development in Central Java Province, Indonesia. The variables thatare identified that have an influence on the manufacturing performance are ethno linguistic,legal rules, bureaucratic financial performance, democracy, city fascination, regional locationindex, the manufacturing base, infrastructure, the labor force, the intermediary finance institutionand the types of regional administration (regency and city). To analyze it, this researchuses the spatial econometric method on its methodological analyses. It is used to reduce thepotential problem that arose in the cross section and panel data which had spatial interaction,and spatial structure. This empirical work shows that all of the institutional variables havepositive and significant effects on the dependent variable. The other result is that every spatialvariable also tends to have a positive and significant impact on manufacturing development.For economic policy, labor activity, the roles of financial intermediaries and infrastructurevariables also have a positive effect on the manufacturing development.Keywords: manufacturing disparity, spatial econometrics, institutional, ethno linguistic,regional location index

Abstract

One way to tackle the problem of poverty is by understanding the labor aspects. This study aims to analyze the effect of employment aspects such as labor force participation rate, open employment rate and regional minimum wage on the poverty rate. This study used annual time series data between 2013-2017 of 15 regencies included in the red zone of poverty in Central Java Province. The best model to analyze data in this study is random effect model. The results show that labor force participation rate and open employment rate have positive and significant effect on poverty, while regional minimum wage has negative and significanteffect on poverty. The findings imply that the workforce should be well prepared to work or to create their own jobs andminimum wage should be increased.Keywords: Poverty, Employment, Random Effect Model.

Abstract

Banjarnegara Regency is one of the districts in the poverty red zone in the Central Java Province. In 2019, Banjarnegara Regency was in the 7th (seventh) position of the 35 (thirty-five) poorest regencies/cities with a poverty percentage of 14.76%.  This study purpose to analyze the effect of the average length of schooling, life expectancy and economic growth in the agriculture, fisheries and forestry sectors on poverty in Banjarnegara Regency in 2005-2019. The variables used are the average length of schooling, life expectancy and economic growth in the agricultural, forestry and fisheries sectors. The data used in this study is secondary data obtained from the Statistics Central Agency of Banjarnegara Regency. The results of this study are the average length of schooling and life expectancy have a negative and significant effect on poverty, while the economic growth in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors does not have a significant effect on poverty. The implication of this research is that the local government of Banjarnegara Regency needs more intensive efforts from the local government to increase development in the education and health sectors with the expectation of encouraging wider learning opportunities, upraising education levels, and improving the quality of health of the population. Keywords: Poverty, Average Length of Schooling, Life Expectancy, Economic Growth in The Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Sectors

Abstract

This research aimed to analyses migrants’ income contribution to income of the family at hometown, the influences of income, age, numbers of family to be responsible to, education, and marriage status on decision about migration in Kebumen. The method used in the research was survey of primary data which is gained through interviews and questionnaires. The data in this research were 91 migrants in Alian and Ayah Districts. Data analysis techniques used were binary logistic regression. The results showed that the contribution of migrants’ income to family’s income after migrating to the two districts was in medium level. It showed that the needs to live in migration place were expensive. Consequently, the income obtained in migration place could not give enough contribution to the family in hometown. Based on the analysis, the variable of the numbers of people the migrants had positive and significant effect for migration. Income and marriage variables status had negative and significant effect. While age and education variables had no contribution to the migration. Income is the most influential factor in migration, so the government or related organizations should give attentions to the citizen’s prosperity by creating making the job activities. The government and the society should cooperate in developing the economic potential in each area. It is also by giving the society some loans and work-skill coaching or education to increase their income. Those are to encourage the society to be more creative and autonomous.Keywords: Binary Logistic Regression, Citizen’s Prosperity, Marriage Status.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the condition of the Karangsalam rural tourism from the perspective of halal tourism concept and analyze the prospects for the development of the Karangsalam Village into a Halal Rural Tourism destination. To answer these objectives, this study uses descriptive qualitative analysis and SWOT Analysis. The findings of this study indicate that Karangsalam Village has tourist facilities, products and services that are friendly to Muslim tourists. The results of the SWOT analysis show greater strengths than weaknesses, and greater opportunities than threats. This means that Karangsalam Rural Tourism is very prospective to be developed into a Halal Rural Tourism destination. To advance the potential of halal tourism in Karangsalam Village, the local village government needs to contribute through the distribution of village fund allocations and community empowerment programs. Restaurant entrepreneurs also carry out halal certification to convince Muslim tourists.Keywords: rural tourism, halal tourism, karangsalam
